This is an unofficial summary & analysis of Dave Asprey's "Summary of Fast This Way" designed to offer an in-depth look at this book so you can appreciate it even more. Download and start reading immediately! Dave Asprey is not your average author, and the reader gains a sense of this almost immediately. In Fast This Way, a prominent linear narrative describes Asprey’s journey on a vision quest. The vision quest parallels nicely with the concept of fasting – they are both journeys and involve some trial and error; they can also be dangerous if you are unprepared! Way before he took a vision quest in Arizona, during which he enlisted the help of a shaman, Dave trained in Tibet amongst folks who fasted regularly. It was here that he was spiritually introduced to fasting, up in the mountains, and discovered such delicacies as yak butter. In other words, Dave committed himself to the life of an experimental, DIY, self-made, self-help expert. With all his work, he immerses himself into the content about which he writes; and this expertise is communicated in tone, style, and content. Furthermore, Asprey is someone who fasts regularly and lost one hundred pounds through his Bulletproof Diet, of which he is the founder and chairman. In a personal sense, Asprey is someone who draws from experience, often touching on situations that are uncomfortable or hard to deal with, such as eating obsessions, and many kinds of addictions. This enhances his ability to make interesting and compelling cases for fasting – specifically intermittent or alternating, fasting – for the common person. In a professional sense, Asprey preaches what he practices, often tying in his personal experiences to what he would advise – and often this involves a ton of nuance and recommendations to consult your dietician. Bulletproof is a successful brand with tons of customers willing to give the bulletproof, intermittent fasting lifestyle a shot! Fast This Way came out in January 2021. It’s a timely and topical read, given that most people are stuck in lockdown (due to COVID-19) in some sense, and are getting contemplative – especially about what they are eating. Not that this trend is new in light of a raging pandemic – folks have been stressing about what they put in their bodies for generations now, and for good reason. The book sets itself apart from other books with its unique approach to the self-help genre. It is part of four books that make up the Bulletproof saga, which follows biohacking, often making full use of Asprey’s Bulletproof Diet, a regiment which he created. Fast This Way pairs well with his self-titled website, which contains extensive information which does well to add to the dialogues occurring throughout the book. And in these ways, the impact of the book is proportional to how immersed the reader/customer is willing to get inside of Asprey’s head. That inside perspective begins with his writings, and they are entertaining to boot.
