“Everything is relative, especially where Einstein is concerned!”
Steve Minion, Heaven’s Emissary to Hell, reunites with his pal Orson Welles to catch a supernatural thief in this comedic “catch me if you can” tale. Go with them on a wild ride through the Circles of Hell, outer space, inner space, even the lower dimensions. Can the guys measure up? For that matter, can they measure anything, when nothing seems constant except their friendship?
The action is nonstop. Wrestling, rodeo tricks, hurtling through the sky, even hiking through perhaps the creepiest valley ever known.
A Room of Steve’s Own or Give Us Some Space! is the ninth volume in the satire/fantasy comedy series, Circles in Hell. It has been compared to other works of “Hell Fiction” including The Screwtape Letters and Good Omens and to the paranormal humor of Tom Holt, Christopher Moore, Gary Larson and Douglas Adams.
My work could best be described as satire, with a little fantasy thrown in. This is a good characterization of my comic fantasy series, CIRCLES IN HELL.
I absolutely love this series. The series starts off great and just keeps getting better. The thing I like the most is the unpredictability of the plot. Just when you think you know what to expect, you get thrown one hell of a curve ball. All of the characters are well written, no two dimensional characters here! It is amazing that the author can make you care as much about ancillary characters and their story as the main protagonist. I found myself wanting to know as much about every new character encountered as I did the main characters.
Continuing in the Circles of Hell series by Mark Cain, this book has Steve Minion stumbling into a mysterious adventure. Thankfully he doesn't have to tackle the mystery alone, he manages to get help from Orson Wells, who is now the main handy man in Hell now that Steve is saved. A box of Albert Einsteins soul excess has been stolen, as well as not being good for business in the afterlife, it has ramifications with time and space too - the effects of which are being felt all over.
This was an enjoyable novella in the series, not quite as long as the other books but still a fun romp. I didn't enjoy it as much as the other books in the series hence the 4/5 rating. I can't say why I downgraded it really, it was a combination of things that just felt jumbled towards the end of the story. Still fun though.
Another excellent addition to one of the best series around. A humorous, satirical and smart take on the denizens of Heaven and Hell. Steve and Orson take us on a wild ride with Otis, Edison, Satan, Beezy, BOOH and St. Peter.
The series is highly original. The characters are well drawn and the stories well constructed. There is no recourse to unnecessary profanity or toilet humour. A refreshing enjoyable reading experience.
A really good story about Steve helping out Orson and saving he'll by tracking down Edison 's stolen box of bad stuff. I really enjoyed it and hope there are more books to come!😀
Steve's adventures, even now as he has been "promoted" continue to impress. I enjoy all of the characters in the book and the story was fast-paced. Please keep us posted on Flo and BOOH, too. Thanks for this escape!
It was good if not a bit odd. I want to look at Mr. Cain and point at this book and ask "Whaaaa? How?" It was GREAT but I can't explain this one to friends. Haha
Reading a story in this series with beloved characters is like coming home, although I'm quite glad I do not live in Hell. My only complaint is that it was too short.
I have been looking forward to reading this for a while as I had a fair few books to get through first. From my perspective it lacked enough of the usual characters. Fingers crossed I enjoy the next instalment more.
