Aurus:

The High King of Ulfaria needs no introduction. What I need is an Omega.

And now, I've found one. Kim. She is small and perfect, as I knew she would be.

I will demand her obedience, then I will give her the perfect nest and allow her to bear my heirs.

She vows to defy me, but one way or another, she will submit.

Hold. My. Beer.

This is the continuation of the first book in this series, but could be read as a stand-alone. Kim is a human who is brought to Ulfaria. She is injected with a serum to turn her into an omega so that she can become Aurus’ mate.

I love the mixture of sci-fi and Omegaverse in this series. It really works! The smut was off the charts hot! I did have one issue with the sex scenes though… The authors described Kim’s 🐱 as her “poon”… REALLY?! POON?!?! WHYYYYYYYY?!?!?! I’ve literally never read a less sexy term for a 🐱. It was horrible!

Aside from that tragic word choice, the rest of the book was really good! Aurus was super j/p, which I loved, and Kim was a bad@$$, which was a nice a change since most Omegas aren’t. The world building was also really decent for such a short book! I actually think this would have been sooooo much better if it was longer! There was a lot of potential for an amazing, full length book, but because it was just a novella, it felt rushed. I think Kim’s bad@ssery could have been explored a lot more. I also wish there were more interactions between Kim and Aurus aside from just sex. They basically just boned a bunch of times and then they were in love. I hate Insta-love! If the book was longer, their love would have felt more genuine. For such a short book though, this was pretty good!

I'm loving this series.

Aurus was such an ass. I almost didn't want to read his book, because I didn't know if I could handle his arrogance. Kim was a little firecracker and obviously a secret badass assassin in her previous life, but she was just what was needed to bring Aurus down a few pegs. I really loved her and ended up liking Aurus in the end too.

Steamy fun, quick Omegaverse read.

So it's clear this 2nd installment was definitely just a filler book to help move the secondary plot along and show a bit of action fighting sequences towards the end.

It's also clear that neither of the 2 authors of this book knew how to write the dynamic between Aurus and Kim. In a word, it sucked.🥴

EVERYTHING about their dynamic was forced and a bit ridiculous. And too many things happening in this story was quite ridiculous and just fell flat. From the Erus sessions between Kim and Aurus, to her big reveal to the female Betas on "Self Gratification" .. Like really? You mean to tell me these glorified sex workers had no clue it was possible to pleasure themselves? And how this conversation came about and what followed was just horrible😩.. These were just 2 of the many things that annoyed me with this book.

No heat. No true emotions conveyed here between them. I did not believe that they liked each other, let alone that they fell in love with one another. In less than two weeks no less, with or without the forced bond claiming bite. It just wasn't there with them... 😕

It could have been. So many things could have been placed on the pages here to make their dynamic believable, sexy, loving and hot. But sadly, those things were not explored. And with two authors who completely got it right with the first book, that's disappointing to me.

The only things good here is that it's only 16 chapters. So a very quick read, and the battle sequence at the end. Still this only warranted 2 stars from me on this one.

Because book 1 was so awesome and I'm really curious about book 3, I'll return for that book. I just can't say I would recommend this second book. But since it's a series, there are a handful of things here that you will need to know. Actually, I would say there are 3 important things that you need to know that's revealed in this book.

I was hoping to like this one but sadly I didn't. 🤷‍♀️

Hopefully book 3 changes that for me and takes me back to the awesome good feels that book 1 gave to me. We'll see🤞

Brutal Claim is book 2 in the Planet of Kings series and another enjoyable read for me. Kim is the next human female taken and given the serum. She wakes up with no memory of what happened or much of a memory of where she's from, all she knows now is that she is in the Kings Harem. I liked Kim but similar to Emma in book 1 she was a little annoying at times. I do love how she stood up to the arrogant king. Aurus is known as the Golden King, his palace is gaudy and filled with wealth. He expects everyone to bow to him and I love how he planned to handle his Omega, but nothing goes as planned. This series is definitely addictive, and I am really enjoying it.

3.5 stars!

This is the second book in this series and features Aurus and Kim. While this could be read as a standalone, I would recommend that you read the first because you'll understand more. On a planet where Omegas are rare (basically non-existant) Alphas have to look elsewhere for an Omega. Human women are the key and once they are injected with a special serum they turn into Omegas.

King Aurus of Ulfaria wants an omega and Kim is delivered to him. He is expecting a submissive woman that will give him heirs and do as he says but instead he gets Kim. She's feisty, independent and a force of nature. I loved her attitude. LOVED it.

Kim defies Aurus at every turn but he soon finds that he loves working for her submission and even finds himself wanting to earn her heart. Aurus is dominant and arrogant in the best way and I loved their interactions and banter. This was steamy steamy steamy. However, I think the authors could have come up with some better wording in a few spots. Because THIS was NOT working for me.

"...snapping hole..."
"A wet spray spurts..."
"I howl as my orgasm starts..."
"...tight little hole which is weeping so freely..."
"...sticky white residue coating my poon..."

Side note: I've never heard of a vagina being referred to as a poon. Where did that come from? Gross.

Kim is not sold on her new life even though she doesn't remember her old life but the more time she spends with Aurus the more feelings she starts catching. Can Kim help Aurus see her as more than a possession and become equals? Will Aurus welcome the soul bond that Alphas and Omegas form? Will they get a HEA in a changing kingdom?

Honestly this was such a fun read. Was it perfect? No. But I found myself thoroughly enjoying all the characters, the light Omegaverse steam with elements of Sci-Fi, and the story as a whole. I would have liked more backstory on Kim...that piece of the puzzle kind of fell to the side. But I'm really looking forward to the next book in this series.

'Brutal Claim' is book two of Lee Savino and Tabitha Black's "Planet of Kings" series and if you've read book one, "Brutal Mate", then you've been anticipating this one as much as I have. If you haven't, then rest assured, this can be read as a standalone but once having done so, you're going to want to go back and catch the first book. You see, Kim wakes up feeling like she's partied too hard the night before and for some reason can't remember anything at all, including her name. Oh, and she has cottonmouth something severe. When she can finally get her eyes open and adjust to the light, she's seeing all these women of different colors and speaks a different language that she can somehow understand. After realizing this isn't a dream and having her "we're not in Kansas anymore, Toto" moment, she made presentable for the king. Do you remember King Aurus? If not, let me refresh your memory. He's the king of the golden palace that was no pompous he came across as a self-centered jerk in the first book. Trust me, he doesn't start off too well here either. But, in his defense, becoming isn't a hereditary position. He had to fight and prove he was the strongest Alpha to hold the position. A bit of an ego? Yeah, just a might. Used to getting his way and everything he wants? Absolutely. But he wasn't expecting the Omega he's received. The only thing that even came close to his requirements is the golden hair. Both of these characters are strong and surprises abound as they get to know each other. I loved the fact Kim held a 101 class in the harem. There is some kind of sadist glee as I was reading that. A great addition to the original story, and I can't wait to see what the consequences are to the dilemma that was discovered.

When High King Aurus, the Golden King gets his Omega, her golden hair is the only thing he got that he ordered. Yes, Kim was injected with the Omega Serum but she was not what King Aurus was expecting. Kim didn't do expectations. I enjoyed the story, Kim was scared at first but her sassy ways
get her through and she shines once she figures out what's happening and how she could fit in with her unique style. Aurus was a self centered jerk in the first book and started off with Kim the same way but he sure learned what it took to handle the strong but sweet hooman he was given.
More Omegas will be coming in future books, there are a few more kings in need of Omegas and I can't wait for their stories.

Another super hot read by Savino and Black.

Witty, fast paced and extremely sexy, this steamy Science Fiction Romance book is a must read for anyone looking for a spicy adventure to brighten up their new year.

I loved Kim and Aurus. Kim is very funny. The way she banters with this hot alien left my giggling throughout. Aurus is a typical alpha male who realizes over time how important Kim is to him.

The story develops well and is full of adventure, fun dialogue and very hot love scenes.

5 stars. Looking forward to the next one.

she arrives at his palace with no memories of earth or her former life. Still she knows she should not react this way to his stupid growl, or his scent, and his attitude makes her snap and defy him at every turn. Can this really be her mate she asks over and over as he tells her she is his at every turn.
This is a great read and loads of fun, filled with action, adventure, as sassy Omega and bossy Alpha! Plenty of steamy Knotty times!

1 Star

At the time of writing this review I am merely at 45% and I am going to finish this BUT I dislike the heroine so much! How I actually liked the first book and rated it 3 stars compared to this one boggles my mind. Ugh.

Kim acts like a fucking petulant, excitable and scatter brained preteen. I could not stand her. Once the first rut was over I realized that no, this chick isn't going to grow on me. She was just plain awful. Her personality is literally all over the place. Supposedly she has memory issues due to the omega serum they gave her so she barely remembered her name let alone Earth and what she did, where she lived or her talents etc. And as if that wasn't bad enough the authors thought why not make this girl have mysterious ninja skills where she seemingly can handle and wield a weapon with skill and leap over seven foot charging Alpha aliens and land on her feet? Or jump off a balcony and scale down a long curtain by stabbing a knife through said curtain to slow her momentum?? TOTALLY BELIEVABLE!

NOT. What the hell am I even reading? I was legit looking forward to the rest of the series after book one but damn, if this is an example of what to expect I'll just pass.

Also can the authors perhaps explain to me why a grown mature woman (at least we're expected to believe) would call her pussy by the term POON? For fucks sake. I hadn't heard that since I was a kid and it's such an awful descriptor and such a classless term that my brain deleted it from my memory ages ago. Why bother wasting valuable space on that? Seriously, this FMC Kim repeatedly refers to her pussy as her poon. It's gross, immature and even if Kim wasn't such a one dimensional terrible character the use of that word alone would've ruined the book for me. It didn't do the authors any favors since to me it showed a lack of imagination and taste tbh. That word is atrocious and shouldn't ever be used to describe our powerful vay jay jay.

Apologies for the ranting tone with the cursing but damn that word is just unacceptable to me. Ick.😳😬

I was looking forward to this story and for the most part it satisfied. The heroine was a bit of a kick butt kinda gal, who didn't take anything from anyone, including her alpha. This was also your typical Omegaverse story with the A/O dynamic of a couple unable to keep their hands off of one another. Now for the issues. The authors used a word for the Omega's nether regions that for me, at least was off putting. Probably not the word you're thinking either. This one was just disconcerting. The other issue I had was that the heroine had amnesia and this was never really a resolved issue. Nevertheless, a good story and I'll be continuing to read this series.

I enjoyed this second book in the series. The heroine was a badass and deeply sympathetic. The hero started out conceited and arrogant, so it was a delight watching the heroine bring him to his knees and unravel him! The heat level was SIZZLING in this novel, with delicious kink elements. I would have preferred more room in the novel be allocated to plot and world building and have a longer word count if necessary to be more balanced in that way, but I still enjoyed the heat, romance, and heat level. I look forward to reading the next book in this series and will buy myself a keeper copy of this book.

I've read this because Aurus was such an ass in book one and the blurb described him as even more arrogant, that I wanted to know if he's getting a badass mate who keeps him on his toes and rips him a new one.

When they first meet you really get that Kim doesn't want to be there and only that serum is making her body react. She herself is frightened, confused and doesn't want it. In my opinion this first time is a rape. There is no consent, on the contrary. I don't like tropes like that. Consent is the most important part. And it's not funny nor in any circumstance tolerable, even for any creative freedom, to deny consent. The designations here are totally irrelevant. There is no excuse or explanation to allow a rape. And then this Korcan milk!? Seriously. Rape juice!?!? 😤😤😤

I loved how she fought in the arena. That stupid serum ruined it all. I really liked her. How she "reformed" the harem. Though some times she acts quite childish/immature. But that girl fighting is a blast.

And Aurus kept being an obnoxious arrogant and condescending asshole. Just giving her the claiming bite, again without her consent. Abhorrent. Or the discussion about her IUD. She has no choice in letting it be removed!? Asshole!!!!

Thank God she turned him into someone more tolerable in the end and they want to make sure women come freely to Ulfaria. We'll, dang that this Hunter King stole the data... now waiting for February.

All in all 3 stars for the action and the badass FMC and the good writing.

zero substance

I mean, there is no story, no plot. Characters are super one dimensional. Here is this woman who is thrown into an alien planet with no memories, but somehow pulls fight moves from the Matrix, isn’t really interested in knowing if she has a husband, a wife, kids, or really anything back on earth. Nothing, she doesn’t care. Oh but the one thing she remembers is that she has an IUD. That alone made her highly unlikeable to me. As far as the male main character- nothing other than he's basically totally ok with rape as long as it serves his purpose. I mean, they inject her with a drug, without her consent, that will basically have her sexed up out of her mind. That's dubious consent at the very least, oh and she's of course totally ok with that as well. There isn’t any instance of them getting to know each other, much less establish a relationship. This books is pretty much about nothing other than them having sex. It’s not good at all. I mean I thought the first book was bad but this is definitely worse.

Iffy character building

I wanted so much to like this book because I like both authors, but the truth is that this book was no where near as good as the first. Aurum was not likable which I get was part of the plot but he had no real redeeming qualities until bam suddenly they are bonded and happy…even though she was very happy before that. For being such a strong headed ‘badass’ kind of character, Kim just flips like a switch to being happy with him and not wanting to escape anymore which made no sense with how set she was on it the whole book. And we never find out what her background is…how does she have fighting skills? Neither character was well built. Like there were established personality traits but no explanations for them and suddenly at the end they both lose those traits. No backstories, hardly even any secondary characters. Really disappointing honestly because it could have been so much better.

This intriguing book 2 in The Planet of Kings Books Series is a well-written story with well crafted characters. These wonderfully written characters, flaws and all, are brought to life in this well-constructed world. This story makes you want to wish these characters overcome their problems and come together. These characters have wonderful chemistry and unique personalities. This is a must read if you are a sci-fi romance lover. I cannot wait to read more books by this author.

Oof I did not like this one as much as the first. The relationship felt so forced and one sided until *event* happened in the last half of the book and then it turned to insta-love. I just felt uncomfortable reading a majority of the book and that’s a bummer because I seem to be in the minority in it.

REVIEW: another quick read. Loved the FMC, Kim, who is feisty, brave, and can fight. Alien romance with arrogant alien MMC.

There was breeding, biting, fated mates, and the mars needs women and we must repopulate the planet tropes.

Con: No pregnancy which is what I expected based on the series content and Book 1. Disappointing.

Happy Reading!

Exciting Read

Right about now, I'm wishing there was another planet on the hunt for willing females, because if it's anything like the planet of the Kings, I'd be signing up for it.
Sex, drama, some entertaining banter between the characters, and a happy ever after make for a good read.

3.5 Stars (But will put this to 4 for rating)

This really to me an erotica with romance, than a erotic romance. This is also a very quick read, with tons of stuff going on - if you're into the Omegaverse AND you are reading this purely for the hot scenes - there are tons (like literally) which is good, but I felt that the steam level went down with each future scene. Descriptions were curt and it wasn't that hot anymore, that when you get to the later half of the book scenes with the smut - it's really just lukewarm. (We're even talking about kink level too, it goes down)

Now for the leads, the FL goes through a whole range of extreme emotions - very in line with your typical FL who has been abducted, a tomboy at heart and is refusing everything from the ML. But wait, the sex is too gooood so it has her conflicted with the ML and so she ends up falling in love near the end? The ML is also the "I have a harem" type, but the FL is the one that makes him stop his lusty ways to only focus on her. The way the two fall for each other is really more "lust in each other so hard that they are attached". Sure they have a mate bond insta thing, but to the point where it's really only the bond that is keeping them together. I felt if that was removed as a point in this story, there's no way they'd fit each other. I just wasn't really convinced that the two made each other better together as well, and instead it felt they just were really good in satisfying each other's lust.

I will note that if anything the ML was mostly consistent with character, which I can take. (Arrogant but then gets a soft spot for the FL) but the FL went through a quick ride of weird acceptance.

Plot, is really fast paced - I think there were a lot of side elements that weren't needed, that instead it made it comical (which if the authors were going for it was spot on).

Anyways, this was indeed a really quick read that I finished in one go - although I didn't care for the ML and FL themselves it does have me curious to read the future and other couples in this universe. It felt that the other couple that was mentioned seemed to have a better dynamic, and again if you are reading this for the smut - it's not too bad as well despite that the level of heat goes down throughout the book.

“Brutal Claim” is the second book in the series - “Planet of Kings” and it does not disappoint! The plot is different from most SciFi stories. In this book, Lee Savino and Tabitha Black continue to give us a wonderful, amazing and intriguing SciFi series where each book tells its own story, no repetition and no reiteration. In the first book: “Brutal Mate”, we meet the human Emma who has been abducted from Earth and has her story with Sexy, Handsome, Alpha King Khan. His planet Ulfaria needs Omega’s to repopulate their planet and Earth women seem to be the answer. He is excited to have found his mate but Emma was taken without her knowledge or consent. Emma is attempting to explain to Khan that this is a problem.
In this story, we find ourselves in Aurum, the biggest kingdom on Ufaria and the High King Aurus wants an Omega. They did not believe this was possible until Khan returned with his Omega. Now, using the knowledge gained from Khan, King Aurus has gotten is Omega Kim. Sounds easy, right? Well, Kim is not happy and just wishes to return to Earth. Aurus and Kim are strongly attracted to each other. They are discovering the depths of their feelings for one another, their roles in life and their desires. The story is packed with events that keep you on your toes and the edge of your seat. Their chemistry is blistering hot. Lee Savino and Tabitha Black are wonderful tellers of stories and this one fits right in! The characters are well developed, the story is enthralling filled with fun, suspense and hot, sexy romance.
I would recommend this book to anyone.

This was a wonderful read, loved the characters and the plot simply wonderful read

This was a simply wonderful read from start to finish it was a riveting and I enjoyed every single moment of this second book that was in this series, Aurus was a great character and I have to say that once I started reading about him, I was surprised about him being allowed to become the King.

He was a typical alpha male full of himself and his own worth and as he finds his other half Kim her pint-sized stature does not stop her ensuring that he is in his place, she loves him and she knows that he loves her and as she is going through the Omega changes, she will back down to no one for anything.

I assure you that you will love every single moment of this book and you will be like myself and find that once you begin reading it will be impossible to put down until you reach the very end.

I assure you that you will love every moment of this book it is simply a fantastic read.

I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing.

The Heroine of this book….

I was sooo excited for this book! I really loved the first one and was impatiently waiting for this. But dang, The Heroine of this book was horribly annoying. I will say I’m not big on the “Snarky” Heroine trope mostly because no one can really doing it properly. But, honestly I HATED this Heroine! Ugh! She was simultaneously petulant AND pretentious. I didn’t even know that was possible. She acted like a brat and even when it was in her best interest to calm the heck down, she didn’t. She acted like she knew what was best in a world she knew nothing about! And the one-liners? Ugh, they were so corny!

Another thing was the progression of the relationship wasn’t believable like the first book. At least from the Hero’s point of view. Aurus had moments in which I could see the heroine falling for him. But Kim honestly had no visible redeeming qualities or “moments” where she truly endeared herself to Aurus for him to fall in love… it was just from 0-60 in no time.

If it was a completely different type of heroine I would have loved this book. But she was so bad I almost couldn’t finish it. I hope the next book is better.

Loving this Planet of Kings Series!!

Planet Ulfaria has multiple kings & alphas. But they cannot create more alphas without an omega. Someone has figured out how to take a human and convert them to an omega. This is book #2 - and just as entertaining as book #1 (Brutal Mate).

Humans do not quite fit the “quiet” omega profile these alphas are expecting. This creates humorous interactions. A delightful learning curve on both sides - yet a match made in heaven. A fun read!!

Another entry in this series. This time is Kim that’s abducted although she can’t remember anything of who she was before - would have liked for her to figure it out and remember at some point.
He’s a completely dick to her to start. She is clearly saying no, tries to run and yet he overpowers her, torments her until she is saying yes and the ruts her. Erm yeah, bit uncomfortable to read.
Almost redeems himself in the last 10% by not being so awful or neglectful and realising he loves her.
