Digitizing Industry Knowledge For Software Development

Rate this book
A crucial skill for IT professionals is to have knowledge of the industry they are working in such as insurance, banking and automobile. Learning industry knowledge is not easy as there are multiple industries and its knowledge is vast, subjective and primarily available in unstructured formats such as books.

Knowledge Driven Development (KDD) is a knowledge management framework aimed at addressing this challenge. KDD is based on reuse of structured industry and enterprise knowledge to form digital project knowledge that in turn streamlines execution activities leading to quality software. Whereas KDD proposes a new project delivery methodology, Agile and Waterfall methodologies also stand to gain from its digital knowledge management proposition.

Industry knowledge structure of KDD is domain agnostic so the same structure can be used to learn multiple industries in a scientific way. KDD allows to formally seed industry knowledge in academia and in industry, it digitizes project knowledge bringing transparency in software development via exhaustive traceability between atomic pieces of knowledge both from business and IT.
