The ultimate guide to the NFT How non-fungible tokens are poised to transform the digital world. Non-fungible tokens, or NFTs, are the most important digital innovation since the creation of blockchain and cryptocurrency. NFTs share the best elements of both of these, while also representing an entirely new step forward for technology. But how did NFTs arise, how will they impact art and business in the decades to come, and—perhaps most importantly—how can savvy entrepreneurs position themselves today for success in the NFT-driven world of tomorrow? This guide by industry leader and entrepreneur Marc Beckman delves into the underpinnings of NFT technology in a way that makes the subject clear and comprehensible to the layman, while drawing on Marc’s branding experience to explore exactly how NFTs are poised to change fashion, sport, fine art, and even social justice. In this book he explores how NFTs will create entirely new asset classes and investment possibilities, such as fractional ownership in dynamic works of art. And in doing so, he also tells the story of how he personally discovered and became entranced by this powerful new tool, and where he believes NFTs will take business and branding throughout the 21st century.
Instead of a comprehensive guide, this is more of a general overview of NFT’s and their speculative utility. This book is not without some useful information, however this sparsely sprinkled information makes up about 40% of the book. The other 60% serves more as an NFT hype marketing piece and general content filler, without much real substance. Even so, I might have still rounded up to 3 stars but, after continually finding myself stumbling over typos, i decided two stars was the highest i could rate a book that managed to bore me on a topic I truly find quite exciting.
I see somebody gave a social media huckster a book deal.
All I wanted was a book that explains the appeal of NFTs, why they matter, and their inherent risks. Instead, this is a pitchbook published just before a market correction that took a gigantic chomp out of its thesis statement. NFTs as a vehicle for nonprofits to fundraise and distribute exclusive benefits? So, instead of a wealthy, tech-wary donor giving directly to an organization and the organization directly rewarding the donor (which works just fine today, thank you), we have to install an intermediary that takes their share off the top?
I have yet to read anything written by anyone that makes me believe this technology is anything but a niche product. Though this author claims NFTs could benefit virtually every industry on earth, he failed to explain HOW the technology will jump the gap between early adopters and the mass majority. Sure, the government could move to blockchain technology to increase transparency. They could also procure technology and software that isn’t from the 80s. This author has his head in the clouds instead of operating in the real world. This is a timeshare pitch disguised as a book.
This is very insightful book. I don’t have any knowledge about NFTs , and reading this book gave me some clarity. I learnt a lot from it. Of course it’s not a deep look into NFTs but it was great amount of knowledge for the first timer like me. The author writes clearly, with sense of humor. If you are starting your journey on the subject, this book is good one to consider. It's great introduction to the world of NFTs.
Page turner that makes up for a great introduction to NFTs and blockchain - finished this book in a day. The author explains the concepts in an easy way with many examples and real world possibilities of current and future applications. Great read!
While this book gives a high level overview of what an NFT is, the goal does not appear to be a guide to them or give the reader a deeper understanding but to act as an advertisement or hype piece for NFTs. It made this reader take everything that was said with a grain of salt.
