About the author

Axel was born in Hamburg, Germany. At school he was good at art, but didn’t think of a career in illustration until he won a cuddly purple cow in a drawing competition.

He moved to England in 1982 to learn English and study illustration at the Bath Academy of Art and then set up home in London. Axel illustrated a number of books for various publishers, and in 1993 Kate suggested him as the illustrator for Julia Donaldson’s first picture book text, A Squash and a Squeeze. This was the start of a hugely successful partnership: their bestselling modern classic, The Gruffalo, has sold over three-and-a-half million copies worldwide, and the TV animation was broadcast on Christmas day 2009.

Axel has illustrated a number of other highly successful books, including Muddle Farm, and his books have been translated into 42 languages.

Axel lives in London with his partner and young daughter.

Unokaöcsémnek vett kupacnyi mesekönyvet olvastam elő, jó móka volt ez a kötet is, nagyon szép, kézbevaló, keménylapos kiadás, és szép színes, részletgazdag és aranyos képekkel.
Pipp és Polli meséi picit didaktikusak, de szerintem a kicsik könnyen megszeretik őket az egyszerű problémák, állatos témák és a kedves kivitelezés miatt. Egy kiscsiga kerül elő a kertben, Pipp és Polli pedig ennek kapcsán konfliktusba kerül a hangos játék miatt... Később persze már közösen és vidáman zajonganak, és a csiga sem fél. :) (jaj spoiler?! :D)

This book was about a bunny and a mouse. Pip is the bunny who loves to garden while Posy is the mouse who loves to play and be loud. One day while Pip was gardening she found a snail who seemed very sweet but Posy was playing loudly and scared the snail so Pip yelled at Posy to be quiet. This made Posy sad so she left. The snail finally came out again but when it did a bird came down and began to fly away with it. All of a sudden a loud voice came and scared away the bird and made it drop the snail. The loud voice was Posy and Pip and the snail were very grateful for Posy saving the snail so they all played and read with Posy the rest of the day.

I really enjoyed this book because I loved the message it taught which was even when you make a mistake you can always be forgiven and do the right thing. I thought this book would be easy to follow along with and the pictures were bright and engaging. I also thought the illustrator did a good job at making the emotions of each of the animals very visible and conveyed their feelings very well.

I could use this book and read this to my class to teach them a lesson of forgiveness and doing what is right. This book would be perfect to teach two lessons which would be to forgive and also if you mess up you can always make it right and do the right thing. I think reading this to a class will be very beneficial but also a fun read for all of the kids.

Pip (a rabbit) and Posy (a mouse) are enjoying some time outdoors in the garden. Everything Posy wants to do is big and loud. Pip wants quiet, especially after he finds a sweet little snail he’d like to befriend. When Posy’s joyful noise scares the snail, Pip says some mean things and banishes her from the yard. At first, he relishes the quiet. But then - a crow appears and menaces Pip’s new snail friend. How to scare away the crow and save the snail? Posy’s big voice to the rescue! The grateful friends reconcile and take turns playing exuberantly and calmly.

This is a story about accommodating different styles of play, sharing space, and being flexible, loving, and forgiving. It’s a good one for modeling respect for different moods and needs. Children may enjoy taking turns acting the expansive Posy parts and the meditative Pip parts. The text is brief and effective and the characters expressive and likable. The illustrations are bright and show just what’s important for the story.

For anyone learning how to share space and toys. This could be part of a library story time about siblings, starting school, or even sound. The Pip and Posy books have been picked up for a television show in Britain and can be watched on YouTube. These books will be popular with families familiar with the videos.

POLA I PIOTRUŚ. ŚLIMAK, to już 6 tom serii i wiem, że nie ostatni - co mnie bardzo cieszy. Pięknie wydane książki z prostym i jasnym przesłaniem. W każdej części Camilla Reid porusza ważne dla dziecka tematy. Jaki wybrała do ŚLIMAKA?
Reid w ŚLIMAKU pokazuje dzieciom, jak wielką wartością są różnice. Nie jesteśmy tacy sami, a mimo to potrafimy odnaleźć (przy dobrej woli) wspólny język. U dzieci jest tak samo - jedno lubi głośną zabawę, a drugie ciszę i grzebanie w ogródku - jednak to nie znaczy, że razem nie można się świetnie bawić.
ŚLIMAK opowiada historię, która z pozoru może wydać się banalna, ale tak naprawdę pokazuje, że razem, z naszymi różnicami możemy "ratować świat". Każdy ma jakiś talent, który ubogaca otoczenie, a przyjaźń polega na akceptowaniu siebie i innych takimi, jakimi jesteśmy.
Cudowne ilustracje Axela Schefflera jak zawsze robią robotę. Z mej, dorosłej perspektywy, to główna radość, bo jestem żywo zainteresowana sztuką jaką jest ilustracja dla dzieci, a Scheffler jest jednym z najlepszych ilustratorów - współcześnie.
Oczywiście polecam całą serię. Fantastycznie się prezentuje i niesie ponadczasowe wartości. Dobre i dla dużego i dla małego - razem można odkrywać świat POLI I PIOTRUSIA.

I'm so excited about this book just arriving in the post! I hadn't realised a new book in this fantastic series had come out until yesterday. In this story Pip makes friends with a little snail but unfortunately Posy is wanting to do lots of 'noisy play' and keeps scaring him away. It all works out in the end when Posy manages to scare a bird away that was about to fly off with the poor snail.
My 2 year old son absolutely loves these books. I think I have read Pip and Posy: The Super Scooter over one hundred times! I cannot wait to read this to him. I know it will be a new favourite and he'll be saying 'again', 'again!' These stories are so relatable to young children and as always the illustrations are stunning. We love talking about all the things happening in the pictures. Another brilliant book.

Pete ja Pulmu -kirjoista on tullut nyt meidän taaperon ykkössuosikkeja. Kun suuntaamme kirjahyllyä kohti toinen alkaa hokea "petepetepete". Näissä on ihanat värikkäät kuvat ja riittävästi yksityiskohtia ihmeteltäväksi. Tarinat ovat sopivan lyhyitä ja selvästi kiinnostavat pikkuista. Niissä on aina jännittäviä hetkiä ja joku tärkeä opetuskin. Tämä Etanakaveri oli meille sarjan ensimmäinen kirja, se kertoo erilaisuuden hyväksymisestä. Tärkeä sanoma hauskassa paketissa.

Η Τέλα κάνει φασαρία και ενοχλεί τον Τικ που κάνει τις δουλειές του ήσυχα και ωραία στον κήπο. Και ενώ φαίνεται πως η Τέλα τρομάζει το σαλιγκάρι που βρήκε ο Τικ, τελικά οι... φωνές της θα αποδειχτούν σωτήριες την κατάλληλη στιγμή.
Μια ακόμα διασκεδαστική ιστορία από τη συγκεκριμένη σειρά με την, όπως πάντα, υπέροχη εικονογράφηση.

Alex Schefflerin taattua tyyliä; Pete ja Pulmu ovat hyviä ystävyksiä, mutta kovin erilaisia. Joskus erilaisuus aiheuttaa riitoja ja toisinaan se on hyvästä. Tässä kirjassa käydään molemmista asioista esimerkki läpi!

The first Pip and Posy story that I read with my little one. It was ok. I think I will need to read a few more to get to know the characters better. The illustrations are by Axel Scheffler (he drew the illustrations for the Gruffalo books).
