Through financial smarts, the internal power gained from cultivating wealth, and a heaping of raw cunning, Peter has found his way from lowly Gold clan slave to master of the Bo clan's fiscal empire and a beautiful collection of lovers and wives. But his true purpose in this strange realm of magic and martial arts remains unknown.
Until now...
As the tendrils of darkness begin to strangle the country, Peter will find out the truth. And to survive the dangers ahead, he will need to spread his golden touch and breakthrough to the next level of cultivation, all the while weaving through the deadly minefield of Imperial politics and the constant threat of death from all sides.
The first book was an interesting and unusual introductions to this series, using a unique system of cultivation that I haven't encountered in literature before.
But the second book just gets better as more information comes to light, new threats appear and that masterful epilogue!
Book 2 was amazing!!! Peter finally has a modicum of freedom but Bo Duijin hates him and any mistake could spell his death. We get more information about why Peter was brought to this world. There’s evil stirring. And Peter has to find a way to stop it before it destroys the world. Can’t wait for book 3
Excellent escapism reading! This is a fun twist on cultivation and fantasy. Peter is trying to solve a mystery to prevent a tragedy. Fun characters with action adventure and a war rooster. Come on! What's not to love about a war rooster? If you enjoy tongue in cheek humor, give this series a read!
The magic system which emphasizes the use of money to cultivate power is interesting and the female characters are very charming. However, there is a distinct lack of smutty scenes in this series despite it being a "men's harem romance" novel. I will continue to the end and find it enjoyable but its not life altering.
This is nothing more than a very long winded transition piece.
A very boring transition piece. Everything is far to drawn out, the climax is just ridiculous. This whole thing should have been three chapters at the start of a real book two.
