Frankie the Frog's class gets a visit from Miss Worrywart, the new school nurse. To keep the students safe from the puddles around campus, she makes them wear floaties—all day long! But something doesn't sit right with Frankie. How can he show Miss Worrywart that her rules have gone too far?
In FROGS DON'T NEED FLOATIES, readers will learn to weigh costs and benefits while standing up to fear.
"A much-needed tale for the current era. Frankie inspires us all with his willingness to stand up for what's right." —Bright Side Book Reviews
"This sweet story about a class of frogs who is made to wear floaties—and later, scuba masks—cleverly exposes the irrationality that escalates when we let fear be our guide."
"Frankie's quit wit and cleverness are sure to smack a smile on any reader's face!"
"It's awesome! It has the same similarities as what we are dealing with right now." —Nine-year-old reviewer
My grandkids read this aloud to me today during today's social studies lesson. They have been homeschooled since masking at school became a thing, so they never got to experience what Frankie unfortunately had to go through in this story. Still, they both totally "got" this story, and were very please by Frankie Frog's solution to his problem with the school nurse's worry filled rules. My granddaughter had the biggest compliment of all "Do we get to keep this book?" When I answered yes, that I bought it, she was very happy! This means we will be reading it again and again! The illustrations were also great, and my grandson made sure to find Frankie sitting in the classroom at his desk on one page. That sort of consistency is important. :-) Highly recommend - especially for children currently being masked at school.
