USA Today bestselling author Cate Lawley writes humorous, action-filled mysteries that frequently contain paranormal elements.
When Cate's not tapping away at her keyboard or in deep contemplation of her next fanciful writing project, she's sweeping up hairy dust bunnies and watching British mysteries.
Cate is from Austin, Texas (where many of her stories take place), but has recently migrated north to Boise, Idaho, where soup season (her favorite time of year) lasts more than two weeks.
She's worked as an attorney, a dog trainer, and in various other positions, but writer is the hands-down winner. She's thankful readers keep reading, so she can keep writing!

While it was very nice to revisit everyone in the Magical Cul-de-sac again, the story itself felt rushed and very helter skelter - like a quilt with some beautiful fabric bits, but with only very thin and uneven thread trying to hold it all together. It also didn't really pack the emotional punch I was expecting considering the story, and *especially* as a culmination of the series itself. I understand why Clearance had to be sidelined for this one, but if I may be allowed to continue the quilt theme - without his insights, or even the opportunity to explain what he little he could, the whole thing just... Fell apart. The thread broke, the seams unraveled, and what has the potential to be a lovely patchwork quilt was reduced back into a pile of fabric.
So yeah, a pretty disappointing finish for me, but still an enjoyable read as long as your not looking for any great revelations or epic battles.
I honestly want to give this five stars. But I can’t. It’s a decent end to this series. I enjoyed it. But there are too many flaws for it to be a five. One is the numerous spelling errors. They weren’t in the other books so I assume that was just a proofreading oversight. Not horrible. The bigger problem is an entire story beat related twice. You’ll know it when you see it so I won’t spoil anything but… that was an odd choice to do and it caused some pacing problems. Overall good but could have been better.
An unusual group of neighbors who battle a variety of paranormal issues. The series, so far, has been entertaining. I hope there'll be more! There are all of the necessary elements of humor, suspense and mild romance, so I recommend reading these stories.
Sorry to see this series ending because I love the main characters, including of course, Clarence. I liked how the story wrapped up and look forward to reading more from this author. P.S. I am already a huge fan of the Vegan Vamp series!
An exceptional romp through fantasy and magic. Humor is embedded in deeply serious settings with very well fleshed characters. Exceedingly entertaining and hard to out down.
