Krátká knížka plná spoilerů.
(Nebojte se, autorka upozorní, že bude spoiler, ale pro mě by byla škoda si nepřečíst kousek už tak dost krátké knihy).
Nemám úplně ambice něco svého napsat, nikdy mě nelákala ani literární věda, ale tahle knížka mě prostě něčím zaujala a nejsem jí zklamaná. Po jejím dočtení mám chuť si přečíst pár těch zmiňovaných známých děl, která jsem ještě nečetla. Většinu jsem naštěstí četla, a ty vyspoilerované všechny.

Jde sice o literární teorii, ale zdá se mi moc pěkně zpracovaná (možná mi spíš připadá jako zajímavá diplomová práce na téma Zápletka v literatuře). Navnadila mě k přečtení i nějaké další z knih tohoto ranku, jako např. Kingovo O psaní.

Je určitě lepší mít už něco načteno, než se pustíte do psaní, ale i do čtení této knížky. Teprve pak bude lépe pochopitelné, o čem autorka mluví.

Really cute little book! It's a great pocket guide to not just various plot structures but a lot of different plot terms. My major beefs with this one are pretty much limited to disagreeing with a few ideas and, of course, wishing that they included the Save the Cat beat sheet in their many other great rundowns. There were some new concepts for me here, but also a lot of really useful stuff in terms of categorizing and listing out known concepts in one place. I do wonder why such a pocket guide couldn't be made to better fit into a pocket (it's quite square, and large enough that it wouldn't fit anywhere other than a purse), but the idea is so adorable and the space is so well used I can't seriously ding it. Worth checking out for beginners wanting a one-stop shop for plot terms and ideas!

This little gem covers a heck of a lot of ground in 58 pages.
I’ve read a large chunk of the books summarised herein, and this is a great little reminder of key arguments and/or primer for further reading (a list is included). But having said that, it still introduced me to terms and concepts that I’ve yet to encounter on my writing adventure. So there may be something for everyone here.

I now like reading a bit before writing as it gets the cogs turning nicely- I wrote over 5k words in 2/3 days whilst reading this and, Amy Jones’ sister title in this series, Literary Devices, which I’m very happy with.😁

Shrnutí narativních postupů k vyprávění příběhu, od starověku až po současnost. Asi nic, co by vás vyloženě mělo nějak překvapit, pokud už máte načteno/načuměno, jako spíš, že text dobře analyzuje postupy, takže vidíte, jak přesně jsou aplikovány v rámci knihy nebo filmu a to se hodí, buď jako berlička, pokud jste třeba zaseklí v určitém aspektu psaní, nebo pokud vám chybí idea, jak dál, co dál. Vonnegutovy křivky jsou něco, co tu samozřejmě nemohlo chybět a vždycky mě pobaví, když si je vybavím. Text je celkem hutný, často dost k věci, ale místy skoro až repetitivní. Slušná věc. 7.2/10
