The Power We Exploit is book 5 in the DI Daniel Ward series by Meg Jolly. A concert has just been held in Bradford to raise money for local food banks for Christmas meals when Santa carries out his horrific plans. What a terrific mix of characters and the humour throughout adds some lightness to the story. The team are down a couple of members, so DC Holly Dean joins them on a temporary basis. She brings something extra to the dynamics of the group. Love Olly, Daniel’s dog, who certainly has it made with Doggy Day Care and a heated bed. Really enjoyed this.

After a Christmas concert one of the stars is found strangled by flashing fairy lights. Ward and his team are struggling to find leads. Then after a second victim is found CCTV shows they have a serial killing Santa. A gripping race against time to save the next intended vistim takes them to a Santa fun run.

Not everyone is in the holiday spirit especially Santa!

We are introduced to a new member of the team in this outing DC Holly Dean and she definitely brings something more to the table.

As always I love this series and Meg Jolly never disappoints.

As always another brilliant thriller with DI Ward and his team. A well written storyline that has you captured from start to finish. I also love the way the author has introduced a new member to the team. She definitely brings a very different approach.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this on the edge of your seat thriller, full of clever twists turns and revelations.
