Shape Up or Shift Out #4

The Better Part of Valor

Rate this book
Ruby is a raccoon shifter and a baker in Blue Creek who is looking for her family. She knows they’re out there, and after the death of her brother, finding his daughters—who were given away against his will—is her only focus. Racoon shifters need to stick together, after all!

She decides to hire a private detective to help. He has to be a shifter, to understand all the variables of the case, and while she’d prefer to avoid predators, there’s something about Paul Lapin that makes her trust the coyote.

She’s especially glad for his professional skills when the family who gave the girls away show up with threats, because there’s no way she’s going to stop now, when she’s this close to a family reunion!

The fourth book in Mandy Rosko's Shape Up or Shift Out series brings the three newfound sisters to Blue Creek, home of their only living relative: their raccoon shifter aunt, Ruby!

This is an older heroine's story, involving finding family and romantic love! It is in Milly Taiden's new paranormal women’s fiction world: Barbara Wolfe's Sassy Midlife Tales!

For my regular readers, you may be surprised to find that this one has no bedroom scenes, but I still hope you enjoy!

Ruby and Paul's Story . . .

Ruby is a raccoon shifter. When her brother Ryan dies, she decides to look for his daughters who were taken and given away against his will. She wants to reunite her nieces with her family. She will need help, so she hires a private detective, a coyote shifter named Paul Lapin who is surprisingly gentle and very willing to work out a payment plan since she really can’t afford this extra money.

She is glad she hired him when the family who gave the girls away start to threaten her with a lawsuit, which Paul says is a good sign. They are trying to stop him from looking into this and their threat would be more harmful to them because of what they did. Will Paul protect her? Will he find the girls and return them to their shifter relatives? And will the two of them finally get a chance to explore what they both suspect? Could it be possible?

Raccoon shifter Ruby contacts coyote shifter Paul who is a private detective, to help her find her brothers triplets after he dies. Ruby and Paul are drawn to each other as fated mates, but neither will do anything until after the kids are found. The author put together a great book about Ruby and Paul, their families and triplets they are searching for. I was hooked right away and could not put it down. Fast paced, with the two knowing they are fated mates but not knowing how the other feels or what they want, so trying to remain professional. Loved their chemistry and the families coming together. Great ending.

Ruby had been working with a handsome coyote shifter named Paul to try and find the triplet daughters belonging to her brother.

Some lovely surprises along the way in the sweet people who were extended family to Paul, and in his very generous reduction in his fees for Ruby. A few unhappy surprises from the rather unpleasant mother to the girls.

A possibility of romance as well.

Sweet, sad and touching family reunions, alongside some aggravation, and bittersweet sadness that neither her brother nor his mate lived to see the girls reunited with their aunt.

Ruby hires Paul (a private detective), to find her brother Ryan's triplet daughters, but the other side of the girls family is doing their best to stop her finding them. I loved Ruby the raccoon shifter, Paul's caring nature, and the suspense/drama of their tale.

short and sweet

A very short but cute installment in the “Shape Up or Shift Out” series by Mandy Rosko. My only complaint is I wish they were longer books it feels rushed.

Lovely

A great addition to both the PDA and Barbara’s Sassy series! It is interesting and enjoyable to see the connections to both worlds.
