It All Began With A Note

Rate this book
One mistaken note brought them together. Their geography will tear them apart. Keeping things strictly physical will prove a challenge…

The scribbled message was supposed to be for Tess’s best friend. In no way, shape or form was it meant for the hot, sexy as hell American who makes it his mission to see what the note was all about.

When Jon introduces himself, Tess is immediately intrigued. Wanting more adventure than her conventional life affords, she throws caution to the wind, and decides to step outside her comfort zone with the handsome, yet sweet stranger. She promises herself he’s nothing more than a vacation fling.

But just when Tess begins to accept that some connections aren’t meant to last beyond the sun and sand, the universe has one final surprise—one that could turn a fleeting romance into something neither of them saw coming.

This is such a delightful read about a couple that met at a Mexican beach resort. It brought me back almost 30 years ago, when I met a man on a vacation that led to a 3 year long-distance relationship.
Jon is a caring and sexy leading man. Tess is a nice girl that leads a rather mundane life until she decides to be “Jessica” on her beach vacation. Before she knows it she is zip lining and on a quad tour with Jon. Their vacation fling is getting serious for them both. Too bad that in real life they don’t even life in the same country.

I found this book to be a quick, enjoyable read. It is well written and the characters are true to life and believable without being too heavy. The female and male leads are sweet and relatable and I liked their story.

This follows a girl named Tess from Canada, who is visiting Mexico with her friend Camille. While on vacation Tess meets a man named Jon.

Tess and Camille are staying at the same resort, but they are in different rooms. One morning Tess leaves a note under Camille’s door, but it turns out she slipped it under the wrong one which happens to be Jon’s door.

Jon finds this note and then he seeks out Tessa. He doesn’t even know what she looks like. He’s just going off of what he sees around the resort to try to find her.

Once he finally finds her, they have conversation and they seem to hit it …

He let her know that he is slowly losing his vision and he just wants to see everything. He wants to remember everything should I say. So they do all these excursions together.

They only have about a week together and she falls for him and then vice versa. He also confesses that he really likes her and he’s not ready to part way.

She lives in Canada and he lives in the United States.

Side note: I think this is a cute way to tell a story of how you met someone in such a random way.

Anyway, so within the six days, on the last day they both are in love with each other….

This book definitely gave me like it’s a movie type of book vibe. I did kind of find it funny when Jon he was waiting for the shuttle so he can go back to the airport to go home. They said I love you and all that jazz and then he said I’ll call you. I don’t know why but I feel like did they even discuss exchanging numbers this whole time lol

So after Jon leaves, Tess is having doubts about the long distance relationship, which she mentioned before.

She wants to end it, but not..
Fast-forward a few months, and Jon makes a surprise visit. He tells her how he’s gonna become a citizen. He did all the paperwork yada yada

He is a doctor a few months later and turns out his vision is no longer tunneling. Happy happy.

And has it happy ending he ends up proposing.. The book is kind of predictable for the most part so yeah. We love a happy ending though.

This is book one in The Accidentally in Love series and it is Tess and Jon's story and what a great start to a new series and definitely a must read. When Tess found out that her fiance was cheating on her she walked away and managed to convince her best friend Camille to go on holiday with her so that Tess can get away from all the betrayal and just relax so after putting a note under Camille's door she went to the beach not knowing that she had put it under the wrong foot until a very handsome and sexy man appeared before her instead. Jon had received a very devastating diagnosis that he would go blind with in the next three years so his best friend's decided that they were going on holiday so that Jon can tick of his bucket list and enjoy everything that he can while he still has some of his sight left not knowing that he would meet Tess. The more time that Tess and Jon spent together the harder they call for each other but what happens when it is time to go home especially as they live thousands of miles apart from each other. Will Tess and Jon be able to make a long distance relationship work or will they both loose out on something very special and a happy ending that they both deserve. I absolutely loved this book and it takes you on a roller coaster ride of emotions that had you in tears but still couldn't put it down as it was a real page turner and totally addictive and I can't wait to read the next book in this series.

I Voluntarily Reviewed a Copy of This Book.

I absolutely loved this book!! With quotes like “Don’t be sad that it’s ending, be happy that it’s happened.” And “And since you plan on breaking her heart, treat her like a lady should be treat until that moment comes....” how can you not?

Tess needed to get away after breaking off her engagement so she booked a last minute trip to Mexico. She invited her best friend Camille to come along too. As they had separate rooms on different floors Tess wrote a note and slid it under Camille’s door, or so she thought. She actually slid it underneath Jon’s door, who happened to be there because his best friend said he needed to get away. Jon was curious as to who left the note so he went searching for T-bird. He found Tess.

Being on vacation and wanting to take it all in Jon liked hanging out with Tess. Tess kept hearing Camille’s voice to live a little and decided to do just that. They do and have all kinds of adventures all the while becoming closer and closer to each other. All good things must come to an end as Jon leaves three days before Tess. Heartbroken Tess and Jon decide to try the long distance thing (2 different countries) until she no longer thinks she can take it.

What Jon does is so sweet and amazing!! Highly Recommend Reading!!

I received this as an ARC for my honest and voluntary review.

Every once in a while, I run across an author who turns my world upside down, makes me feel things I'm not sure I want to feel, and surprises me with a twist I never expected. I found all of these things in this book. I'd never read anything by this author before, but I'm always looking for romances that take me someplace I've never been. This story was magical, heartbreaking, uplifting, and something I'll remember for quite a while.

Tess's trip to Mexico turns out to be so much more than she ever dreamed it could be, and I think it's what all women wish would happen on our vacation - that someone like Jon would enter her life because of a simple mistake and teach her that she has more strength and love inside her than she ever imagined she could possess. And she's lucky to have a friend like Camille, someone who is her complete opposite, who sticks by her side and helps her over all of the difficult bumps on her journey even if she needs to give her a little push once in a while.

This touched all of the giddy places in my heart, made me laugh out loud, and had me grabbing the tissue. It's not a straight-forward love story but holds twists I never would have thought of and an unexpected ending that is perfection. I'm so glad I tripped over this story, and I look forward to continuing the series. Brilliant and heartfelt, it was the perfect romantic read for my day.

Tess has a new job, a new apartment, and got rid of her cheating boyfriend. She and her best friend head for a resort in Mexico to clear their heads and have some fun. She slips a note under Camille's door one morning, and a random guy shows up at the beach to meet her. OMG - wrong room. Jon's on vacation because his friends are getting married, and he needs some vacation time. Plus, he's slowly going blind, and has a bucket list of things to see and experience before that happens. She's from western Canada - he's from Maine. They have a week together before real life takes over. They never planned on falling in love. This story sucked me in on page 1, and never let go - not a slow moment in the book. I love how Jon pushes Tess out of her comfort zone, and his stories of the stars. Her friend Camille is so protective of her, and conspires with Jon in the end. This is my first read from this author, and I just purchased another of her books.

It All Began With a Note by H. M. Shander is a sweetly romantic story.

It begins with Tess and Cammie going on a beach vacation to help Tess get over her ex-fiance. Tess plans to do nothing nothing but relaxing on the beach and enjoying herself. The day after their arrival, she slides a note under Cammie's door telling Cammie to join her on the beach. However, Tess put the note under the wrong door. While Tess is lounging on the beach waiting for Cammie to arrive, a deliciously handsome man, Jon, approaches her, thinking he was invited to join her on the beach.

Of course they hit it off beautifully! Out of safety, Tess gives her name as Jessica. Cammie has been telling Tess to loosen up and have fun on this vacation and Tess/Jessica is about to do just that! This is a sweet romance.

There is one sex scene which truly could have been left out of the story. It was, ahem, a very hot sex scene, nonetheless. Leaving it out of the story wouldn't have any affect on how the story progress.

Overall, a great fast, enjoyable read.

Such a lovely story - a fling that leads to true love. Could be a cliche, but this has so much tenderness and emotion. Throughout the story, I worried about Tess. She had such a tender, loving heart and was so obviously NOT fling material. Jon, too, though he perhaps used to be more of a love ‘em and leave ‘em type, was NOT really a playboy. Perhaps because of his condition or his past, he wasn’t looking for anything but sometimes life gives us what we need when we need it and we just have to be brave enough to try. Loved Tess and Jon - a very emotional story of love and loss and how perseverance can claim the reward in the end.

A lovely Insta love story. Tess is on vacation with her best friend taking a break from breaking up with her cheating ex and losing her job from harassing co-workers. Jon is on vacation with friends to enjoy the sights and just enjoy life after a diagnosis that will render him blind in a couple years. When a note is slipped into his hotel room he is intrigued and goes to seek the owner of the letter and that is where he meets Tess. What starts as a vacation fling turn something more but can't be because they live in the opposite ends of the world. I liked this story. Thanks to Jon, Tess is more adventurous than she ever has been and Jon teaches us to enjoy the beauty of everything. Look forward to reading more from this series.

“Don’t be sad that it’s ending, be happy that it’s happened.” Beautiful!! Who knew slipping a note under the wrong door could lead to a fairytale vacation??!! I’d probably end up with some weirdo the way my luck goes!! Tess and Jon caught feelings pretty quickly while in paradise. With Jon facing the reality of his medical diagnosis and Tess a bad breakup, its a wonder they even bothered trying with each other. I TOTALLY loved this book with it’s elements of love, passion, fire (in the form of Camille...lol), adventures, tears and astronomy lessons. Read it!!

Tess breaks from a relationship and invites her friend to join her in a tropical vacation. They are in separate rooms and Tess puts a note under the door of her friend to join her at the beach. She just happened to put it under the wrong person's door and he joined her there. They start a friendship that turns into much more. Tess and Jon live thousands of miles apart, but seem to make the long distance relationship work.

A trip to Mexico changed Tesses life. She meets the man of her dreams.
Not with out some bumps in the sand though.
A trip with her bestfriend Camille Tess follows her heart to a happily ever after.
Some sass, some sex, some passion with a little bit of romance.
Unavoidable drama and Ah Ha moments for the new couple when they finally became a real committed couple.
Looks like Camille will be next to find a real connection if she can finally find it in her to shed her cheating boyfriend.

This book pulled me in right from the beginning, and continued to get better as it went along. The main characters are realistic and very likable, and the descriptions of them and the Mexican resort were fantastic. I wished I was in Mexico with them and could help along the romance which began with a note put under the wrong room’s door. I gave this book a 4⭐️ rating because of the superfluous use of the “f” word in the first part of the book. If you can overlook that, this is an excellent book. I received copy of the this book from the author. All opinions expressed are my own.

I am really loving this series! Having read Camille’s story, it was so enjoyable seeing what Tess was up to on their vacation in Mexico. Her relationship with Jon was a total delight. She called him her Knight in Shining Armor, and he truly was. He was gorgeous, romantic, caring, and persistent. Even when she was ready to give up on an impossible long distance relationship, he persevered, determined to find a way to be together. I loved it!.

One mistaken note brought them together. Their geography will tear them apart. Keeping things strictly physical will prove a challenge…

She meant to slide the under her best friend's door, not his. Now he's the one meeting her on the beach. Will this end being a one time, holiday fling or will it lead to more? Will the long distance between them keep them apart and make them find a way to make it work? Grab your copy today and find out.

Love, love, love this story. The way the author writes, the story drags you in from the very beginning and I felt like I was right there watching everything that happened. I have read a lot of good books lately, but this story of unexpected love was just endearing and it was the best love story I have read in awhile. Looking forward to reading many more titles by this author.

It All Began With A Note is the first book in the Accidentally in Love series.

This sweet romance has charming characters that meet because Tess put a note under Jon's door by mistake. The storyline is well written and engaging, with humour, personal and medical issues and a long-distance friendship. Is there any hope for a couple that lives in two different countries?

I loved this story and cannot wait for the next one in the series!

A captivating, heartfelt read. It all begins with a note and a wrong door. This love story is one of those that takes you on a journey through an unbreakable and undeniable love between two people. Although in the beginning it was all supposed to be just fun but it ended up being something so much more. Definitely recommend reading.

Great little romance book. Easy to read. The chapters were the perfect length. I loved the Mexico setting. I’ve been to Mexico twice and her details took me back there.

I’ve never been a true believer in falling in love so quickly but this fast love was so sweet and their love for eachother felt powerful.

I recommend this to any romance novel lover.

I enjoyed the concept and I enjoyed the ending but I really feel like the holiday aspect of it went on for far too long!

I found myself getting bored and not wanting to carry on reading.

That being said, I pushed through and enjoyed the ending but I just wish we could have had more of that and learnt more about what happens after the holiday rather than just a chapter and half.
