Benjamin "Swatty" Luther seems to have it all. He's popular, gets all the girls, and is captain of his high school's basketball team. He lives by his own code: The S.W.A.G Code. A code that assorts his dominance in the school. But that's his alter ego. His home life is far from perfect. His brother is dying from cancer and his dad can get abusive at the smallest convenience. Swatty: He's confident, outgoing, and always down to have a good time. Ben: He's scared, suffers from anxiety, and feels like the world is moving on without him. Until he meets her: Alexandra Santiago is everything he is not. She's smart, determined, and the only one at school who doesn't fall for his game. Both of their worlds collide when Alexandra is assigned to tutor Ben so he can graduate with his class. And the more time they spend together, the more they learn about one another. Then one day, both lives intercept and he must learn to face the reality that comes with his truth.
Sarah Swartz was born and raised in the town of Endwell, New York and has recently moved to Woodruff, South Carolina in 2022. She started writing on Wattpad at the age of sixteen after she saw a YouTube user mention the site. She decided to make an account and show support to this user. Shortly after making her account, Sarah decided to try her hand at writing. Her first book was called A Summer to Remember which was first published on Wattpad in 2012 but wasn't completed until 2015. She went on to write more than twenty Wattpad stories- only eight of them being full-length novels that she tolerates- since she joined and she is still an active user on the site. She continues to show support to the writer who introduced her to Wattpad in the first place. Wattpad is where she made the final decision that she wanted to have a career as a writer. Her use of storytelling and character caught the attention of several readers. To this day, she focuses much of her time and attention on completing edits and getting them ready for publication. When she's not writing, she can be caught most likely reading a good book or trying to find inspiration for a new novel. "The S.W.A.G Code" instantly became one of my favourite books by Sarah Swartz when I first read it on Wattpad. When I first learnt Sarah was going to publish it, I was thrilled. The story is so well written, and I honestly didn't want the story to end.
I don’t always leave reviews, unless I absolutely love a book. I don’t like to leave bad reviews, because who am I to criticize an author when I’ve never wrote a book. This book is not bad per se, but it’s not very good. The plot is decent. The writing is like a middle schoolers, the conversations are awkward and immature. I’m not sure if the author intended the book to read like that because the characters are young people or if that’s just the way she writes. Unfortunately I’m not a fan.
The story was beautiful, but there were too many typos and grammar errors for me to give it 5 stars. The romange also felt rushed, with contradicting actions ( ex: they grin while yelling at each other, during sad scenes, etc)
