When ex-army officer and UNESCO archaeologist Max Hunter is sent to Normandy on the trail of England’s missing crown jewels, he thinks he’s in for a few easy weeks.
But when the ancient Mont Saint-Michel abbey is attacked by gunmen, Hunter and his research assistant Lauren Lane are forced to flee for their lives with a mysterious treasure chest hidden for centuries inside the abbey. After evading the assassins, Hunter and Lauren find something inside the chest with world-changing consequences.
The search for the truth joins Hunter back up with Amy Fox and the rest of HARPA, but even faced with devastating news about the team, they must race across Europe in the footsteps of an enigmatic warrior monk, trying to decipher his ancient code and beat the armed assassins to the greatest treasure of all-time.
This adrenaline-filled, fast-paced, action-adventure is perfect for fans of Dan Brown, Clive Cussler and Scott Mariani and will have you holding your breath as you turn the pages deep into the night.

International bestselling author of twenty-five thrillers, including fourteen in the Joe Hawke action-adventure series and The Hunter Files. All available for the Amazon Kindle.
After enjoying the series debut, I gladly reached for the fourth novel in the collection by Rob Jones. Max Hunter has enjoyed his time with HARPA, from the missions to the connections he's made with his teammates. However, his passion as an archeologist with UNESCO remains strong and he is in France exploring with a doctoral student, seeking to find England's original missing crown jewels. After being attacked by gunmen, Hunter is able to get a message out, which is relayed to his HARPA teammates. Soon, they are on the scene helping, as they discover mysteries embedded with the legend of King Arthur. Travelling across Europe, the team seeks to follow a coded message, all while being chased by a powerful group they have seen before on past adventures. Things get tense, particularly when a call comes in putting HARPA in jeopardy for good. Jones delivers yet another addictive piece for all to enjoy.
UNESCO archeologist Max Hunter has enjoyed his time with the Heritage, Artifacts, and Relics Protection Agency (HARPA), but his passion remains exploring relics closely tied to his field of study. He's off to Normandy with a doctoral student, Lauren Lane, to explore a mystery surrounding England's original crown jewels, which may have a connection to King Arthur. While Hunter hopes for an easy few weeks, he could not have expected what would happen when armed gunmen storm the abbey in which he and Lauren are working.
After the bullets stop flying, Hunter and Lauren reach out to a friend, who sends word to the idle HARPA team members that there is trouble. They scramble and rush across the Atlantic to help their flamboyant colleague, which seems to be what always happens. Reconnecting with Hunter and Lauren, the team discovers that there is a new mystery for them to solve. Coded messages speak of Arthurian legends and the truth behind the famed sword the ancient English king held dear. All the while, they must be wary of a powerful group with fingers in many pies, as they seek not only to capture the sword, but also neutralise HARPA once and for all.
As the journey takes the HARPA team across Europe, they remain unsure about what is happening. Seeking the sword and its mysteries, the team is forced to juggle a kidnapping or two, as well as complete radio silence from their director back in the United States. Something is off and it is only when a call comes with a desired trade that Max Hunter and the rest of HARPA will have to make a significant choice. Rob Jones keeps the cliffhanger dangling as the series reaches an intense crossroads. A stellar addition to the collection that has me eager to keep reading!
Rob Jones delivers another story that juggles the wonders of history with significant action, in ways he has not done before. Jones crafts a stellar narrative, while mixing in elements of history and mystery, as well as some biblical references that are sure to enrich the larger story. Numerous characters emerge from the series, adding to their development. Max Hunter’s story gets a little more intense as the series fan sees some of what he has been holding back. One-off characters prove great additions, bringing their own flavouring for readers to enjoy. Plot points serve well to keep the reader on edge and wondering what awaits them, entertaining and educating in equal measure. While I finished this book, I was offered an ARC for the next one, which I am prepping to start right away, if only to resolve the cliffhanger.
Kudos, Mr. Jones, for keeping me highly impressed throughout.
I really hate books with an open ending, in this case the story is not finished and one has to wait for the next book.
The author has the same enemies in this series as in his Jed Mason series. I wanted to read a good Indiana Jones like mystery, not to get involved with Illuminati (I would read Dan Brown for that) nor with satanistic cults (so not my cup of tea). The author obviously run out of ideas for enemies, and therefore once again introduced dark, satanistic Illuminati. The authors lack of imagination in this area makes not for a fun read, when you've had already read the Jed Mason series ( and I disliked this special case of illuminati already there).
I'm ending this series here and now, the series was interesting up until now. I won't wait and read Book 5.
The twists and turn to reach the conclusion were so much fun. The wonderful descriptions of the fantastic site the clues led the team to were mind blowing. Great read as always, thank you Rob Jones.
This book was brill poor Quinn being snatched up by a menace. The cliffhanger at the end is a shock what will the team do now and will they get Quinn back safely? I need to read more .....
Great read with tension action and adventure.Hunter and Amy are a great match for each other and both great leaders of teams in different ways.Looking forward to the next book
Action from start to finish at the team formerly known as the HARPA team goes on another mixed adventure in search of Excalibur. Action from start to finish with a tease at the end for the next adventure. Great read
