Mar King #2

Sir Bennet

Rate this book
The deal is done. After six years of torture at the bottom of Mount Verta, Dexter Bennet reconnects with Sara and his children for the first time. But, Sara is not alone. Dexter grows suspicious of the twin’s father figure, Guy. The man is caught breaking into their home at night, confessing his love for Sara, and, most disturbing, questioning his kids’ odd behavior. Something is off with the twins and Guy knows it. Dexter is desperate to figure it out first. The more he learns, the more he questions whether he ever made it out of Mount Verta. Due to violence, language, and sexual content this book is recommended for readers 18+.***

Ah! She did it again! If I wasn’t sure of Sara and Dexter’s love before, Sir Bennet only sealed the deal!

This sequel to Mar King really took me through it, from getting to know Kali and Nellie with their wisdom and just the ability to make me smile every time their names crossed the page, to the dark secret that infiltrated the minds of all these lovely characters.

With Sara, it hurt me to see her still afraid, to think that Dexter would just leave her, after everything they’d been through together. I feel like this was consistent from start to end, evolving over time until the last few chapters.

With Dexter, he embodied the protector of the family. Loving his kids and Sara with everything he had was wholesome and it didn’t feel forced whatsoever. It felt like everything was coming into place, whether they were going through something awful or something absolutely beautiful.

Once again, I am crying happy tears! And I can’t wait to read what Nicolette has planned for her next series.

Seriously, you need to read this book and read Mar King if you haven’t already! Another amazing read!

Sir Bennet by Nicolette Beebe was one of my most anticipated stories of 2021, and it was everything I knew it would be and more! 😍

As one of my favorite couples, we’re launched back into the world of Sara and Dexter, and I can’t decide who I love more. Between Sara’s fierceness and Dex’s protectiveness, these two are a match like no other.

As with Mar King, Sir Bennett’s world-building was so extraordinary, and on more than one occasion, this beautiful story played out like a movie in my mind. I love the intense emotions of these characters and found myself craving to know more about them!

Sir Bennet is a fantastic tale of love, loyalty, and family, and the lengths we go through to protect the ones we love. I highly recommend this sequel in the Mar King series and once it comes out, bump it to the top of your TBR stat!

The second book to the intoxicating read 'Mar King' *gasp*. Sir Bennet is a heartwarming, yet thrilling tale. Placed in a recovering world, you get to see how it heals. Each word written by Nicolette was simply beautiful and page turning. After reading 'Mar King' I HAD to read this one and I finished it just under two days. The supsense and TWIST was everything. I loved loved LOVED this book and the new-ish characters sprinkled within. The ending was everything to me and I still think about it to this day. My only hope is that there will be a third!

Wow, this book has it all! Other-worldly powers, journeys, family, and, of course, romance. The detail with which Nicolette writes her characters, their perspectives, and the environment they move in is uncanny. Even her supporting characters felt real to me. But what struck me the most was the ever-evolving relationship between Sara and Dexter. I loved them from the first book in the series, but now I’m obsessed. Looking forward to more books from this author.

Beebe has done it again!
Sir Bennet picks up pretty much where Mar King left off (storyline wise) and immediately sucked me back into the world I fell in love with in book 1.
It was good to see all the old faces again: Sara, Dexter, and Emily in particular. We meet a few new characters in this installment, and I have to admit Kali and Nellie are my new favourites.
I enjoyed the continuation of Sara and Dex's love story, and feeling the fear and turmoil that came with the challenges thrown their way.
Beebe has shown her amazing story-weaving magic once again - the world-building was phenomenal, the plot full of epic twists and turns that ensured Sir Bennet remained a bingeable read over every single page.
This book truly had it all - love, fear, manipulation, magic, violence and death. It showed the importance of family and friendship. It showed trauma and anxiety in an honest light. Beebe gave us characters that show immense courage and strength through tough times, and undying love and faith above all.
There were times I feared for our epic family here, Beebe giving barely any hints of a possible happy ending through the hardships and horror of the story. Honestly, I thought (a few times) that it was all over for Sara and Dex. How could they possibly make it through? I often agreed with Dex that he had never made it out of Verta.
Looking forward to seeing what Beebe gives us next!

I don’t even know how to write this without my brain exploding..... I kind of managed to finish this book in three days. It could have been one of I wasn’t so hell bent on dragging the ending out. As usual the Mar King series did not disappoint. The new bonds and additional characters such as The BENNET TWINS😍 grasped my affection in no time at all! I also adored the suspense and the constant beautiful and delicious yet ugly and haunting character development between Dexter and Sara. How no matter how many times they were all tested as a family by the Father of Fear, they never gave up on each other. My mind was EVERYWHERE while reading this but for all the right reasons. I’ll just close with the fact that I’m PATIENTLY WAITING for the next installment out for another novel written by this lovely author.

A good fast paced Read

A great sequel with an excellent storyline. Characters are grounded and real with enough craziness to make them fun to watch and care about. That story is engaging and keeps you guessing so that you keep reading to find out what happens next.
Take a chance and you’ll find that you enjoyed the ride.

Do you know the feeling of getting off one of your favorite rides at Disneyland then running to another favorite ride? You wait, wait, and wait. Then FINALLY you are on the ride. And it was absolutely worth the wait.

That’s what Sir Bennet is like. After reading Mar King, I was left feeling like I finished my favorite book. Then, I heard there was a sequel. So I waited. And I waited. And I waited. Then, I was able to read it and it was more than I expected.

Sir Bennet continues off where Mar King finished. I wasn’t entirely sure where the story could pick up after that ending, but the author did a phenomenal job continuing a story I thought was all tied up. One thing that was done very well in the first book that was again executed perfectly in this one is the romance. So, if you are a romance reader, you should definitely read this book. I mean, after reading the first book, how could you not read this one?

I want to say more about the book, but I don’t want to give away any of the twists! Bottom line... Romance. Action. What!? Read it.

Plus, you really have to read up on how Dexter and Sara's kids turn out. Just reading their characters makes the book worth it.

I truly loved Mar King but wow did I like this book even more. It had me questioning reality and hallucinations, which honestly made me feel like I WAS the characters. Again, Nicolette’s writing truly captures what you’d completely expect to see. When reading dialogue from the children’s point of view, it’s 100% clear as day because it is exactly how 6 year olds would behave. And what I loved most of this book is I could actually feel Sara’s fear, rage, strength and courage when it came to wanting to save her children. The lines “you’re not a soldier. You’re a goddamn mother. And Atraeus just messed with the wrong one.” I FELT THAT! so empowering from a mothers point of view. I felt like I could put myself into the book to protect my daughter. Absolutely loved it and would read again.

I thought nothing could be more dramatic, more intense, more exciting than Mar King, but Book 2, Sir Bennet, is all of those things and more.

Meeting Dexter and Sara as parents -- as adults with complex relationships trying to navigate a post-apocalyptic world -- was an entirely new kind of adventure. While Book 1 had me furiously turning the pages to find out if the pair would escape near death by way of screechers or murderous gangs deep in the forest, Book 2 dove deep into the internal worlds of two complicated people in love (arguably even scarier than screechers).

Sir Bennet is an emotional roller coaster that lets you experience the euphoric highs and gut-wrenching lows of building a family and trying to protect it . . . with a little magic and evil thrown in.

Sir Bennet is an enthralling sequel and captivates you until the end. The story begins right where Mar King left off and immediately pulls you into the excitement and intrigue. Nicolette does a fantastic job of switching between characters and pulling you along until the end. Definitely worth reading, especially if you love romance with a twist.
She will have you eating out of Dexter’s hand and fighting to find Sara in your own life!

I honestly don't know which book I like more, Mar King or Sir Bennet, but what I can say is I love both of them books and characters. Despite taking an unfortunate amount of time to finish reading this is another well earned 5/5 for Nicolette who continues on from the previous book and builds further on a flawed yet loving relationship that keeps getting better and better.

I enjoyed this way more than I thought I would!

I have some wild baby fever now, I'll tell you that. There were so many points in this book where I couldn't tell what was a reality and what was not real for these characters. SO WELL WRITTEN!

I do feel like the ending felt almost too easy, but at the same time these characters kind of deserve easy?

I will be purchasing both of these books to have on my bookshelf. Will be reading more from this author

The author once said that this was her soul and now I am pretty damn sure she made it my soul too. Not only is the world building and romantic story absolutely riveting, but I spent 100% of my time reading this book either laughing, crying, completely angry, or moved. This is by far one of her best works I have read and I am desperate to read it again.
