The Octunnumi Fosbit Files #2

The Octunnumi Fosbit Files Chapter I - aka - Book 2.

Rate this book
The Octunnumi still does not exist.

Fosbit and any files relating to a Fosbit still do not exist.

The Tarelen peoples that protect and provide sanctuary for the Avitens of Fethrist are still not real.

The abilities of the Tarelen peoples with their heightened skills, living in their Utopian world are still myth, their purpose here mere tales; rumours of their reincarnations enabling them to live many lives… still... ridiculous!

And there is definitely no magic.

None at all.

No, really, there isn’t.

Magic is not a thing.

There are also still no hidden worlds or mythical beings coexisting just out of sight.

Equally, there are still no secret access points to these hidden worlds that don’t exist, and there is no, 'unfinished business from the past' that is set to destroy, well, anything.

There is still no disaster looming.

Anyway, regardless of any potential threat that may or may not be present, this publication, The Octunnumi and any reference to any other beings is still a work of fiction.

And for the record, Scariodintts, should they exist, are still perfectly lovely beings whose purpose in life is still grossly misunderstood.

The Octunnumi, a just out of sight, doesn’t really exist world of mythical creatures and magic.

Of course the mythical creatures take great issue with this title as they are of course not mythical at all, being the native inhabitants of the planet Earth way before – well a long time ago; and as for magic, there is no such thing.

Like the aforementioned non-mythical creatures, the abilities of the Tarelen peoples are in no way magical.

After all, mind control, telepathic communication, telekinetic control over objects is no different to any one of us breathing and is that considered magic? No, of course not, although a rock might disagree.

Keep tuned for more information on publication dates

Alright y’all, I’m here and I’m giving the first actual book a try. (Book one was just a prologue, remember?)

Here is Book 2, yet Chapter 1. Confused? Me too. Into the nonsense we go… I hope this world realizes its awesome potential, because that is why I am here. Fingers crossed!

This is just…
Everything is so on point. The look of the book, the pages, the added extras. Even the one star-reviews on Goodreads are something else. I always love a good 1 star-review – usually it’s someone saying things like “this book could’ve used a good editor” and then typing an entire rant filled with typos. But The Octunnumi found a way to make even those better. A lot of their reviews are people complaining about the prologue being mostly worldbuilding… And I must admit, it is unfortunate that the book in no way warns you about this, for instance by putting the word Prologue in the title or something (as mentioned in my review of said prologue: if you can’t even read that one word, put. the book. down.)
The thing is: these people really know what they’re doing. You need the prologue to understand this first chapter. It makes this an easy read. No worldbuilding in this first instalment. You already know how everything works and who everyone is. And yet the story will surprise you – as any great book does. I found myself getting so caught up in the story I got startled when someone in my surroundings moved. Now that’s a captivating story.

A lot of mystery remains after this first chapter, not just about the story, but about the book itself: what is that written on the sides of the pages? ‘Join us’, but then it looks as if I'm holding it upside down...
And who is this Trevor Alan Foris? Does he narrate my life? Is he watching as I’m typing this review? Is he even a he, or is he a she, or something in between?

I guess time will tell…

Sending lots and lots of love to Trevor and this book. This is only 3 stars because it’s sooo detailed with the different language and the fact all chapters are split up into whole books that I forget what’s happening half the time. (This is all my personal experience and problems - nothing to do with the book!)

The prologue was the best thing I’ve ever read and I finished it so quickly. I had my beautiful cat by my side and I couldn’t put it down.

This one I just couldn’t quite get in to because I’d forgotten some things from the first one and then went in a little blind and then didn’t know what was going on half the time. My cat from before had also passed away so I didn’t have the same experience hahaha.

I LOVE the otherworldly-ness. I LOVE that the author / narrator speaks in the book!! I LOVE the idea. I LOVE everything. I never was a Harry Potter girl when I was little and this feels like what could be the new Harry Potter (well not quite the same in storyline but you know what I mean!)

I just want to sit down with Trevor and have a big conversation about what is happening. I love these books so much. I will buy them all, forever. I just need to visualise it better. Hahahahaha

I wanted to like this book so much. It has so much potential but I think it gets in its own way at times. I gave the first book a better rating because it was unique, beautiful, and just a prologue that I wasn’t supposed to fully understand yet. But I just couldn’t get into this one. The unique names and words make it very hard to follow, at least in my opinion. It’s fine if you just read through each scene without worrying about it too much, but I struggled when I tried to think about the main overall story. I never knew what was going on. I still don’t. Having to keep looking up which definitions went with which words was too distracting for me. I just couldn’t seem to remember them or certain characters. Also, I didn’t like that I had to go searching for the 50 or so blacked out pages at the end of the book, only to be met with a message saying there’s nothing there. Again, unique and a little fun, but not sure if it’s worth it. Maybe I’m missing something or maybe there really isn’t anything there. And if that’s the case, then why bother? I don’t know if I’ll continue with this series, which is so disappointing. But I just don’t see the point if I barely understand what’s happening a lot of the time. I’ll definitely have to think about it.

Oh My!
This book.....book 2, chapter 1.....did not disappoint.
Was it tough to read at times? Yes.
Did it have a lot of world building? Yes.
Did it make things clear from the last book? No.
Was it enchanting? Very much!

As with the Prologue, this book took me awhile to read. With the language and the world building, I was reading a few pages and stopping to allow it to properly absorb. I think what helped immensely was that I reread the prologue before starting this one. Having the story fresh in my head really helped with starting this book.
Others mention that it jumps around and is hard to follow. I did not find this to be so. I thought the Prologue jumped around WAY more than this book.
I know that when I go back and read this one again, I will understand even more than I did this time.
This is truly an enchanting experience.
If you love fantasy and can get past the made up words (I kept an anagram solver open on my phone, SOOOO much help!) then you will love the Octunnami! The worst part, is the waiting........

I wanted to like this book, i really did, but i can honestly say i have no clue what happened in this book.
The point of views jumped around way too frequently and nothing really made sense. It got so tedious that once i got to the blacked out pages and the butterfly link gave me no further information i just gave up.
Its one thing to have a unique way of telling a story with different fun features like the anograms etc but if you are also barely able to follow the story, in my opinion, its just not worth it.
All the extra work to be able to understand and follow the storyline would be fine if it helped the narrative but it just doesnt.

This is absolutely 100% confusing haha. It’s really good, like how that whole world is build up and the personalities of the different characters are worked out and detailed. BUT this is sooo confusing again, like way more than the prologue. And honestly it’s so frustrating how much is going on and you don’t know about and suddenly happens and has been going on but you haven’t read about cause it’s secret etc etc. So really amazing and frustrating reading this book but I absolutely need chapter two NOW!!

Barely followed what happened until towards the end, way too many unfinished sentences (or thoughts) and the language just was too much to follow. I ended up skipping a lot of names/words I didn’t recognize bc they weren’t essential and were too difficult to read. Switching POVs could have also been a lot better - I often had to re-read just to find out who I was reading about

This book is not quite as humorous as the first one and definitely has a more serious tone. It had a couple of good twists that kept me on my toes but it did feel mostly like build up for the third book and there weren't that many actual plot points in this book itself I felt. I didn't find it particularly hard to follow, like some reviews seem to have. I love reading about this world & find Trevor's character so fascinating! I'm not sure why there were 50 odd blacked out pages at the end of the book, but I assume as with all things Octunnumi, all will become clear in time! I'm hoping that book 3 is a bit more action packed!
