Sara Bennett writes with passion. She has been published by Avon HarperCollins in the USA, and also publishes independently. She recently wrote a series of Regency novellas about Second Chances called Mockingbird Square. The four novellas are Unforgettable, Enraptured, Surrender and Reckless. They're available at all eBook stores.
Currently she is writing a second series of Mockingbird Square. The first three novellas, Fascination, Seduction and Temptation are available, and Obsession is under way.
Sara also writes paranormal romance as Sara Mackenzie, steamy historical romance as Evie North, and Australian Women's Fiction as Kaye Dobbie.
Could've been much better. The epilogue was dreadful but overall the sensuality level was quite high. The intimacy scenes are
There were some really uncomfortable and implausible situations which led me to abandon it midway before picking it up again to make up the numbers on my reading challenge.
Enjoyed this book immensely and am looking forward to reading the rest of the series. It's nice to have a historical romance set in a later date than the expected Regency England. The story focuses on Vivianna Greentree, the eldest of three sisters, kidnapped and abandoned as infants and adopted and raised into country gentility. Old enough to remember her childhood abandonment, Vivianna is determined to save the lease on an orphanage that is threatened by Lord Oliver Montegomery, who wants to turn the property into suburbs. Unknown to Vivianna, though, Oliver has another, more dangerous motive for tearing the old house down, one that involves treason and the unsolved murder of his older brother.
I loved this story and am looking forward to more by Ms. Bennett.
No conocía a esta autora y, me ha sorprendido gratamente. La historia engancha y es entretenida hasta el final. Es una pena que no hayan traducido mas novelas suyas, me hubiera encantado leer las historias de las hermanas pequeñas.
Lessons in Seduction" is the story of Vivianna Greentree, a prim-and-proper young lady with a dark past who helps manage a home for orphans, and Sir Oliver Montgomery, an aristocrat who wants to see the orphanage (which he owns) torn down brick by brick to help solve the mystery surrounding his brother's death. Vivianna, very much the crusader, continually harasses Sir Oliver not to destroy the house, but she meets continually with staunch resistence. Eventually, under the tutelage of one of London's most famous courtesans, Vivianna attempts to seduce him into getting what she wants... I found this book rather annoying. Prim and proper Vivianna suddenly under the tutelage of a courtesan? Trying to seduce a man to get what she wants? It seems like it's a rather porn-movie-esque attempt (aka, unbelievable) to bring sex into the book. Vivianna is an annoying, single-minded character who rather annoyed me. Despite the premise of the book practically forcing the sexual content on you, the sex was actually rather bland, partially because of the lack of emotional connection between the characters and the reader, and the lack of emotional connection between the characters themselves. The subplot between Aphrodite and Vivianna is corny to say the least, and I never quite understood why she didn't just allow Sir Oliver to build her another orphanage when he offered. Ridiculous, really.

This book introduced me to Sara Bennett and I am a fan. The passion between the Vivianna and Oliver leaps through the pages. It was done in a way that rather than just lust you'd feel chemistry. There are questions raised throughout the book regarding Vivianna and her sister's origins but I assume it will be answered in the next installment of the series. This book knows what it is. It has an identity. It's supposed to be sexy. Yes there is an essence of mystery but it was written in way that it doesn't get through in the back or spoil the plot instead it drives the main character. I enjoyed it very much. I hope to read the next book soon.
a Pick from Michelle and thankfully the first in a series! Slightly later time peroid (I don't normally enjoy Victorian historicals, but love Regencies) - so far, so good! A bit like early Enoch in theme and plot.
Edit - once I got to the end I could take it or leave it. Just not "real" enough for me.
I liked the prologue however the promised seduction didn't happen for over 100 pages following that and I ended up skimming to the end. I also wasn't sure about the twist with Aphrodite, especially when Vivianna was taking sex tips from her. Seemed a bit odd when it turned out they were mother and daughter. I will not be continuing with this series.
Enjoyable, but not a keeper for me. The Madame Aphrodite connection was way too coincidental for my taste. However, I liked Bennett's writing enough, so I will check out further titles in the series.
