Die Pünktlichkeit des Mercedes am nächsten Tag war nur mit seiner Weißheit vergleichbar.Anyways, I got this book from a friend of my mom's for my birthday and I thought I'd give it a shot since it's so short. It's Amélie's attempt at working through her first relationship to a Japanese man when she was in Tokyo as a 21-year-old in 1989. The first half is really not that bad – their budding relationship, intercultural clash etc. – but it really went downhill in the second part – obnoxious mountain climbing and Amélie presenting herself as the martyr that she most definitely isn't, the ending also showed her despicable character (instead of denying the marriage request of her lover, she keeps him in the unknown for months and then books a one way ticket back to Brussels without telling him).
