When light is removed, all that remains is darkness. A crouching, ravenous, darkness.
While the summer holidays present a break for normal students, sixteen-year-old Maleek Warden knows no such a luxury. Whether it's trying to track down the elusive Christopher Lyles or dealing with the rampant demonic activity in a region gone dark, Maleek and his friends have their hands full. And if that alone wasn’t difficult enough:
Mysterious, supernatural blackouts plague the country—blackouts which seem to animate people towards violence. And an underground society of masked cultists is plotting something right under their nose.
If Maleek and friends are going to recover the stolen sacred items, restore the region, and stay one step ahead of the shadowmen, Maleek just may need the help of unlikely sources… perhaps from the woman whose partnership draws him more than he cares to admit.
And to make matters worse, something is wrong with Maleek. It's not just the ancient writing spreading across his skin, nor his unruly powers. It's something deep inside. Something cold… alive… and evil.

Here is the continuation of the dangerous and fantastic adventures of the three teenagers Dante, Lysa and Maleek.
Unfortunately, I did not manage to find the magic of volume 1, which I had literally adored, in this volume 2. The reading was curiously more difficult, and the events more complex to follow.
This remains a very good sequel full of action, surprises and mysteries. Given the end of this book, I wonder what volume 3 has in store for us...
To discover for lovers of action-packed youth fantasy.
