Very, very nice read. I really enjoyed this one. There was nothing particularly unusual about the plot, no sudden twists or turns or nothing overly melodramatic, or no big hidden secret revealed (okay, there was a secret revealed, but I doubt readers will be shocked by the secret)--this was just a beautifully detailed character driven story, and what wonderful characters they were! I absolutely fell in love with the hero, the heroine, and their extended families. Although this book is part of a series, it's not absolutely necessary to have read the first book (Laid Bare), but I suggest you do. A couple of the characters from that book have pretty big roles in this one, and you'll also want to get the hero's full backstory from that book. In fact, I'm so hooked on this book's hero (Brody Brown), that I just might have to pick that book up again and reacquaint myself with all his sexy wonderfulness!

Basically the plot is this: Elise is a petite, blonde, beautiful, 30-something divorced star ballerina, until a recent traumatic event derailed her career and nearly her life. Afterward, things are so bad in her native New York with her ex's vindictive parents, that she's packed her bags and moved herself and her precocious 7-year-old daughter far, far, away, to Seattle, Washington. Elise wants to start all over, forget about some horrible times in her past, and raise her young daughter in peace and quiet. She's not looking for a man, she's not looking for a relationship, all she wants to do is work hard teaching at her recently opened dance studio, and provide a stable life for her daughter. And if there just so happens to be a big, sexy, tattooed, motorcycle riding hottie living right across the street from her...well, he can be a part of her fantasies--that's good enough for her.

Brody Brown is big, bad, and sexy as all get out, works as a well respected and very successful tattoo artist and has his own shop. When he was 18 his parents were killed in a car accident, and he had to put his promising career as an artist on hold so he could get a job and raise his younger brother and sister. Brody is an alpha protector, always looking out for his family and taking care of those he loves. No sacrifice is too big for this gentle giant who puts his family's welfare first. Now that his brother and sister are adults with successful careers and lives of their own, his responsibilities have lessened, and he basically has a life of his own. He's got a nice house, enough money, friends and family, and the occasional lover. He's not looking for a wife or a relationship, but fate has a way of handing you stuff when you least expect it. One day while getting the mail from his street-side mailbox, he's sideswiped by a drunk driver, and his across-the-street-neighbor runs over to administer first aid. Such is the beginning of a beautiful friends-turn-into-lovers turn-into-something-much-more story.

I won't get too much further into the plot, except to say that Brody and Elise's initial mutual attraction turns into "why don't we be 'friends-with-benefits'" and lasts a good long while before they both realize that they've done the unthinkable, and have fallen in love (although both are reluctant to admit it). These two were perfect for each other, and it's testament to LD's storytelling that she can keep the reader engrossed in a story that basically just tells what's going on in the H/h's day-to-day life while their love story slowly develops. Everthing is told in a totally natural, believable way and time frame. Elise meets Brody's family, and starts hanging out with them and Brody's circle of friends. Brody meets Elise's energetic daughter Rennie, and they hit it off and develop a strong bond. Brody and Elise talk, revealing intimate things about their pasts as couples in a meaningful relationship do. Elise has to deal with a jealous former girlfriend of Brody's out to wreck their relationship while dealing with issues of trust and with feelings of guilt about past decisions. And all the while Brody is right there by her side, trying his best not to be too controlling (Elise hates that) but still being the protective guy that he is. The longer this couple is together lovingly helping each other over life's little (and one big, annoying hurdle near the end of the book that threatens Rennie's future), the more the reader wants them to realize that "hey, can't you see you're in love".

Sex scenes? Hot, romantic, erotic, yet tastefully done. And oh my, the things they do in Elise's dance studio...and their first 'encounter'...whew! Have a fan nearby because you'll need it!

Readers of the first book in the series about the Browns ( Laid Bare) will be happy to know that siblings Adrian and Erin (and her husbands) are back to offer friendhip and support and encouragement (and some razzing) to their beloved brother. This family may be a bit unconventional, but they are a loving and supportive bunch, much like in Ms. Dane's exceptional Chase family series of books.

I do love a story where either the hero or heroine, who's made a sacrifice or put their life on hold for some reason, finally gets their own well-deserved HEA, so this one was very satisfying to me in that respect. Readers looking for a hot contemporary about a couple of strong, deserving characters falling in love, and a story that's well developed, well told, and at times very emotional, will love this one. These characters are ones that you will strongly root for and admire, and they'll tug at your heart strings. I hope LD plans on writing younger brother rock star Adrian's story, because that guy needs a woman to love too! 4 1/2 stars

Warning: This book contains explicit language and sex (including oral); a m/m scene of oral sex, and a m/f/m menage scene--neither scene involves the H/h. Not for the faint of heart.

Opening Line: "Even at the close of the day, the sun was enough to make the ride home from work totally perfect."

Ever since I read Laid Bare I’ve been waiting for Lauren Dane to continue with her sexy ‘Brown family’ series and with Erin’s brother Brody as our lead character here she doesn’t disappoint. COMING UNDONE grabs your attention right away with its cast of familiar characters, erotic love scenes, perceptive writing and Brody. Wow, who wouldn’t fall in love with this bad-boy on the outside, tender and sensitive on the inside charmer, sigh. I have to say though not much ever really happens within this story; it’s more a character study which Dane does very well, drawing the reader into the emotional lives of her characters with amazing dialogue and chemistry.

Our story takes place over the period of a year so we also get to watch the entire Brown family grow and change and in chapter 16 Erin/Ben and Todd show us what they’ve been up to in a detailed ménage romp and um yeah...it’s hot. As a whole though I think true erotica fans will be slightly disappointed (with the exception of chapter 16) because of the lack of heat. Don’t get me wrong Dane’s sex scenes are amazing (mirrored ballet studio or tattoo shop desk anyone) and so well written they’re just relatively tame compared to Laid Bare and it’s over the top kink factor. Still this is an amazingly hot and sensitive read that fans will love.

Brody Brown has always been responsible for others giving up a promising art career to raise his younger brother and sister after their parents died. Now that they’ve grown and moved on Brody’s life has finally become his own and with a prosperous tattoo shop, nice house and freedom to do as he pleases life is good. However when Elise Sorenson moves in next door he can’t help but get involved in more ways than one.

Once a world famous ballerina, Elise and her young daughter have moved far away from the horrors of her past hoping to start a new life. The last thing she wants is a relationship especially with a tattooed, Harley riding bad guy but what Brody offers isn’t a relationship instead he offers companionship with no strings attached. A friends with benefits you might say and it’s working for both of them until Elise’s past comes back to haunt her. Now as much as she doesn’t want to admit it Elise might need Brody for more than just a good time in fact he may be what she truly desires.

This could be read as a stand alone but readers would benefit from reading LAID BARE (because it’s awesome) and you get the entire back story on the yummy Brown family and friends. Cheers

I won't write a plot synopsis, since there a few very detailed ones at GR already.

I absolutely loved Coming Undone! The story takes place over about 1 1/2 years and you really get to know Brody and Elise. I've read all Ms. Dane's Chase brothers books, and the first in this series, Laid Bare. I loved all of her heroes. They are alpha in most aspects, but also so warm and caring that I just want to cuddle with them all!
Well, at the very least, any way....

There are quite a few secondary characters that I've become attached to as well in these two books. I can't wait to read "Inside Out", which is Cope and Ella's story.

As I read this book, I was going to say this book was more extra steamy vs. erotic. Brody and Elise get pretty hot together. However, there is a gratuitous chapter thrown in about 2/3 way through that revisits Erin, Ben, and Todd's bedroom from Laid Bare.

Content warning: m/m oral, menage; all secondary characters

Brody is probably my favorite of the Brown siblings because he just has such a HUGE heart <3.

It’s in everything he does and never expects anything in return. To him being able to be there for them is all the thanks he ever needs.

So when Elise comes to his neighborhood he is kind of taken aback at how much he is drawn to her and her kid.

I love the tentative relationship they have at the beginning, but how much chemistry they have right from the get go.

This book is full of turmoil and swoony parts and holy freaking HOT parts.

I can’t even tell you how much this book makes my heart happy.

I am a Brody fan but I am a Brody and Elise fan more. They together fit and it’s a love story more people need to read especially if you are a romance fanatic like me.

*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*

^^UNDONE,LAID BARE AND WIDE OPEN!!^^

Lauren Dane does it again, spinning an erotic tale with human emotion and sizzling sex. This book is the second in a series revolving around a family of siblings and the women/men they love. Although this book is not as epic as the first it’s just as good and emotional, then again my view could be biased because the first book had a very unusual coupling and I loved it.

Brody Brown is the caretaker for everyone, raising his siblings from the tender age of 17 giving up his hopes and dreams to become the parents that they lost in an accident. You might think that his live is without merits but it is the complete opposite he has raised two very successful people and he couldn’t be prouder plus he aint doing so bad himself. A successful tattoo artist surrounded by friends and family life isn’t too bad. All he needs is a casual romance and everything would be perfect. That’s what he finds in his neighbour Elise, what started as casual becomes so much more than he would have imagined.

Elise is escaping from a horrid past and moving to Seattle is just what’s needed. Finding great neighbours and good friends and living a normal life with her daughter. The upside is that she has a very sexy and inked up bad boy neighbour, he personifies what fantasies are made of. He lives inside Elise’s fantasy every night, and man is he good ;). Elise just wants a man without complications and Brody fits that bill what she doesn’t expect is to love him and adore the way he treats her and her daughter. Seems that healing and love can come in a big inked up package.

This book was hot, not as hot as Laid Bare but it doesn’t fall short, Dane knows people and writes what she knows on paper, and makes it raw. Her books aren’t just sex but a whole lot more and that’s why I enjoy her style of writing. Brody is strong and tough but inside a sweet and caring person and the balance of that was beautiful. Elise is strong after all she’s been through no crying sappy female in this one just a beautiful strong woman. The heat between the two characters could start a small forest fire that would last for a few days, hot, hot hot. Plus chapter 16 gave me a stroke it was bloody steaming when she gave me a taste of Ben, Todd and Erin. Blasphemy!! My fave trios. If you love erotica and a good story then check out Dane’s work, no disappointment. MMM CHAPTER 16, GOD!!!(Read Laid Bare)

I should let you know, that I am no huge fan of M/F erotica but Lauren Dane lights my fire, but I could blame that on Todd and Ben and oh yeh Erin the woman.

5 stars – Contemporary/Erotic Romance

I'm behind on my reviews, so I'll just keep this short and simple and say that it's a beautiful, sexy, sweet, hot romance and I loved it!! Hot bad boy with a soft, tender side, Brody, is flat-out yummy, sex on a stick, and I just couldn't get enough of him!

My only complaint is that I really dislike Brody's b*tchy ex girlfriend Raven and kind of just want her to go away. And I certainly don't want her paired up with Adrian in a future book. If you're reading this (and other reviews/posts) Ms. Dane, please spare us Raven-haters that agony! :)

I’m so glad that I continued with this series.

Book 1 was unexpected and left me confused. Book 2 allowed me to become more comfortable with Erin’s relationship even if I don’t understand the mechanics and think it’s unfair to Ben.

Brody and Elise’s story was cute. Elise and her daughter fit right in with the Brown’s. This story was a good segue from Erin to her big brother Brody.

However, there was an odd start to their relationship. One moment they were admiring each other from across the street, the next they were in each other’s lives sexually and constantly.

Also, there could have been smoother transitions between scenes. The author would move on, but then assume that we can read her mind. Put space between paragraphs, add a line between different scenes...something.

The most aggravating part of this story is that I would get lost and not know who is talking. I constantly had to reread dialog to figure out who was talking. Handles like “Brody said” or “Erin murmured” are needed for the reader to follow along.

Although I enjoyed book 1 and book 2, I’m not sure if this series is for me. I’m on the fence about book 3.

This book is a 3 star read for me, but Merry Christmas – I’m giving 4 stars.

Imagine reading a book when the couple from the first book keeps getting mentioned, oh wait it's an MMF book, so the trouple, not the couple.🤔

I can be a  bitch sometimes but I'm not bitchy enough to judge a book because the author chose to write about something I dislike in another book

But in the end, the real bitch was the author for including a sharing scene of the previous book characters in THIS BOOK, which clearly is not about them at all 🔪☠🤬

Is my fate to suffer from unwanted threesome scenes? 🤡

He sucked her tongue and then broke off to kiss her jawline, down her neck, and to her nipples, tugging hard on each ring there, just the way she liked it.
“Let me taste her before you fuck her.” Todd rolled toward them.
“Greedy bastard. You just came,” Ben teased

You should all suffer reading this 💩.

Obviously, I didn't finish reading this, I was traumatized for the rest of my life.

I wish I was open enough to just read this and laugh and get over it but no , I'm gonna be annoyed for a long time and shuddering every time I remember this book 😖🤡

Have you ever read a book that everyone really seems to enjoy, but you find yourself having the opposite reaction? This has happened to me in the case of Lauren Dane’s Coming Undone. I’ve been a big fan of Lauren’s past work and she really does write some of the best love scenes out there. But with Coming Undone, I felt something was missing. The plot didn’t keep my interest because the plot came across as too ho-hum, and the fact that the two main characters use each other for the soul purpose of being each other’s booty call didn’t give me that feel of a sexy and smoldering romance I usually think in terms of a Lauren Dane book.

Coming Undone is a sequel of sorts to Laid Bare, which I didn’t read. But I will say that I was able to catch up with the characters in a way I wasn’t confused. The heroine of this tale is Elise Sorenson who has come to Seattle, Washington with her daughter Rennie where they can have a fresh start. After a disastrous abusive marriage that left her unable to ever dance ballet professionally again, Elise has hope she can live without fear. But, she still has to contend with her deceased husband’s parents, especially her horrid ex-mother-in-law, who is making plans to take Rennie away from her.

What Elise doesn’t count on is her tattooed, Harley riding neighbor Brody Brown, who sends wonderful shivers down her spine. It’s been a very long time since she has had any sexual release with another man. She knows he is very wrong for her because of his lifestyle, but can’t help but wonder what it would feel like to have Brody’s goateed mouth pressed against her own. Brody is very interested in this widow, even though he thinks she would never be attracted to a man like him because he owns a tattoo shop and is constantly surrounded by a group of rowdy siblings and friends. Brody takes a big chance and admits his attraction to Elise. He visits her at her dance studio and comes out and says, “I think we should expand our friendship to friends who have sex.” And since Elise would love nothing more than to have sex with Brody, she hops at the chance and they become friends with benefits.

These two engage in a hot and heavy affair where they can’t stay away from one another. These two have quickies all over the place. Soon their physical attraction changes into something deeper and Brody can’t help but want Elise and Rennie as a permanent fixture in his life. A big plus is his sister Erin (heroine from Laid Bare), thinks Elise and her precocious daughter would be perfect Brody. He just has to figure out a way to keep his ex-lover Raven at bay who still wants him for her own, as well as Elise’s ex-in laws who harass her to the point where she thinks she’ll loose Rennie forever.

Coming Undone is a very simple read, meaning there’s not a great deal of action, unlike her past few books. I found myself wanting something more and something deeper to happen because the majority of the scenes had an incredible amount of interaction with many characters. There is a great amount of dialogue and scenes of everyday life that just didn’t thrill me. I also wasn’t turned on by the many scenes of Brody and Elise having quick sex. Their passion came across a bit too stilted and calculating for me to really enjoy.

Brody is a wonderfully written hero and Elise is well rounded, but I felt their chemistry was more tepid than hot, and their “let’s rip off our clothes and go at it” love making too cool. At one point I thought Elise and Brody would be better as just friends than lovers. The only real external conflict is Elise worried about Rennie being taken away from her clichéd villainous ex mother-in-law and Brody having to deal with the rebel like Raven who feels she has a claim on him because they were lovers in the past. I waited, hoping for a big reveal or something explosive, but it never came.

There’s a lack of depth and overall conflict in Coming Undone, but for those who like a read in the terms of what you see, is what you get, then this latest by Lauren Dane is for you.

This is the third book I've read by Lauren Dane, and I think I'd probably say it's my favorite so far. It was a great read all around and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Series Note:
This book is the 2nd in Dane's unofficial "Brown Siblings" series. For the most part I'd say it's not necessary to have read the previous book, but there are a references and situations that would be clearer if you did read it. Plus, it's a great book also so you should read it anyway.

Summary:
Elise Sorenson escapes to Seattle after her life pretty much falls apart. Her abusive ex-husband is dead...after he injured her so badly that her dance career is over, and she's just won a court battle with his parents over custody of their daughter. So to start over she moves to Seattle and opens a ballet studio. Everything is going well for Elise and her daughter...and they only get better when she meets hunky neighbor Brody Brown.

With his tattoos, bad boy looks, and Harley-riding ways, Elise wonders if she should stay away. She's had her fill of bad boys, but once she gets to know Brody, she realizes he's one of the few genuinely good guys out there. It doesn't hurt that there is a blazing chemistry between them. Neither, though, are looking for a relationship so they settle on a friends with benefits compromise. But as the two grow close, feelings grow and each secretly wants more. First, though, Elise has to settle some issues from her past before she can hope to move on with Brody.

Review:
The absolute best thing about this book was the character of Brody. He is like my ultimate Alpha Bad Boy-Good Guy. I mean, he's got the whole bad boy thing going with all the tattoos (and being a tattoo artist), the overall look, the Harley, the attitude and all that...but he's is such a nice guy. He's kind and caring, genuine, sweet, loving, etc. Just an all around fantastic character. I loved reading about him.

I liked Elise as well, but not nearly as much as Brody. Elise got on my nerves now and then with her semi-lack of trust in Brody about her past and how she seemed to blame herself for every little thing. But she was still a strong woman to have made it through what she did.

On the romance front...great chemistry between these two characters. I thought they fit really well together and the development of the relationship throughout the book was fantastic. Plus, they had some smoking hot sex together! Seriously hot stuff there. And I liked how even though the scenes were erotic and hot, they didn't take over the book and make it a sex-fest. The story was very well-rounded.

I would say this book falls solidly into that contemporary romance genre where the book is all about the characters and the relationships and the trials and tribulations of life. It's a pretty basic story, but the way Dane tells it...the characters, the emotions, the relationships, the sex...all make it stand out and keep it from being boring.

And I loved that the H/H/H from the last book (Erin, Todd and Ben) had a good sized role in this book. I loved those three together and Dane gave us a nice peek into their life (a very vivid peek, at that....)

I just enjoyed this book all around. It had just about everything I love in a good romance book. I think Brody will be a character that stays in my mind for a while...not sure if he can beat out Tara Janzen's Christian Hawkins as my fav, but Brody's up there near the top.

WARNING, this book contains: explicit sex and language, oral sex, light ass play, masturbation, and a scene with m/m oral sex and m/f/m sex (not involving the H/H).

Another old TBR that I’ve owned for years and forced myself to finish. I’m in the minority here, but I didn’t care for this one.

Elise (single mom of Rennie -- almost 7) moves across the country to escape her abusive past and get distance from her overbearing ex-in-laws. Brody (her neighbor) has raised his siblings and finally ready to enjoy some me time. The two are instantly attracted but leery of relationships, so they start a no strings sexual relationship. This part was done well. We have a confident mature woman wanting to enjoy sex without acting like an immature twit pissed that the dude isn’t offering commitment. 👏

I had two grumps…

❌ The plot was boring. Other than them thinking each other is hot and constantly having quickies, not much is going on. There really isn’t any action, barely any conflict, several secondary plot-blockers, little relationship development, even the OW drama was sparse and generated zero feels. Most of the time we’re just ambling around watching them do day-to-day crap with a bunch of people I didn’t care about.

❌ Raven is my most hated type of OW. You know the blunt, misunderstood character that says what she thinks with no filter and does what she wants while everyone tolerates it because “she is what she is”. No comeuppance, no consequences, and I bet anything she’ll get her own book with some sad twist that makes her a victim. All while here, she was rude, tried to temp Brody knowing he was with Elise, and attempted to break them up after she knew he loved her. She just breezed in and out of the plot being a bitch with everyone (except his brother) justifying and overlooking her behavior. I wanted to smack the bitch. At the VERY least Brody should’ve called her out and cut her off until she could act like a grownup.

Adrian glared at Raven, who exhaled hard. “Just how you like it. You really need to buy a clue. It’s not always everyone else. It’s you. You cruise around through life, bulldozing over people and calling it being free-spirited. It’s not free-spirited, it’s fucking selfish bullshit, and apparently I’m the only one who will call you on it.

Bottom Line- I might have rounded up had this been on KU, but this was not (IMO) worthy of the 5.99 price tag. I had anticipated A LOT more OW drama and angst… it delivered neither. OW frustration—sure—but it takes interaction not placating to generate drama.

This came very highly recommended from several trusted sources, but, wow, it misfired on so many points for me. The characters started off very promisingly, but then turned flat, like so many little paper dolls who had sex, and talked at each other, and had sex, and kept secrets, and had sex, and recited their secrets, and had sex. (Okay, to be fair, it's an erotic romance, so yes, they're going to have a lot of sex, except the heroine had been beaten and raped and brutalized not a terribly long time before, which was pretty jarring. And also to be fair, the sex was well-written, except I couldn't get the paper doll metaphor out of my head, because everything else just seemed to be filler before we could get to another sex scene.)

The ex-in-laws were such caricatures, I couldn't take their threats seriously (yessss, let me tell you in a public bathroom how I'm going to take your daughter away from you and make her hate you because you were so bourgeois that my son turned into the drug addict who raped and beat you so severely that you had to retire from your dancing career. It doesn't have to make sense because I am eeeeevil.) Also, really? Judges use the public restrooms in courthouses while they're involved in a custody hearing? How convenient. Alsoalso--please. A principal dancer with a thinly-veiled ABT who kills her ex-husband after being held prisoner in her apartment and beaten and raped by him, and who then goes through a very public custody battle with the aforementioned eeeeeevil ex-in-laws--how is this not the topic of every link first 100 pages of google hits after her name? (This is an issue because a)new!boyfriend knows something bad has gone down, but not what, and doesn't think to google her, or even think about not googling her and not invading her privacy; and b) sister of new!boyfriend DOES google her and finds only stuff related to her dance career.) I could go on, but it's probably best just to let it goooooo.

Two stars but only because I did manage to finish it.

After raising his brother and sister when his parents died, Brody Brown never expected himself to truly get involved in a relationship that would require anything more than some shared intimacy. When he meets Elise Sorenson for the first time, he thinks he has had a glimpse of an angel. His new neighbor and her six year old daughter continue to draw his attention and now for the first time in his forty years he is wondering if they are what he has been missing all along.

I love this story, Brody is a charmer and Elise is shy and quite opposite of Brody but they work. The one thing I really enjoy about this story is it takes the time to unfold, like when you meet someone for the first time and that hesitant kiss with promise that it leads to something more, only to wait in anticipation to see if it actually does. Beautiful story.

***reread, this is such a great story. Brody is just yummy, he is badass but also a gentle giant.

This book was freaking awesome!!!!!

I just finished it and I am just really at a loss for words except, it was just awesome!!!!

Re-read 9/2011

Brody Brown remains the #1 hero in my opinion. Everything about him was just so, so swoon worthy. He is every woman's fantasy, hell probably some men too.

This book was just as good if not better the second time around. I loved the camaraderie among the Brown siblings and the other people in their lives. I also have to admit I still dislike Raven immensely, but I no longer hate her. I guess I just sort of pity her. I think it is safe to say that we have all known a "Raven" in our lives.

Thanks to Ms Dane for a well written, emotional story that was just as big a treat the second time around.

it was nice to know that after two years of having sex with no one but her hand or her toys, her libido could still rev up at the sight of something so spectacularly male.

Raven, the woman he’d once loved until she’d broken his heart, and then he’d come to like her and realized like was better. Safer.

“Anytime. Momma says we’re part of a community, and community means you help each other.”

“This is exclusive?” Erin looked to Raven, who sat on the other side of the yard. Raven wasn’t Brody’s girlfriend, hadn’t been for years, but they occasionally slept together, or had in the past, and Erin wondered how strong Brody’s feelings still were for their friend.

They shook hands and it was fine, but Elise’s internal radar was flashing red. This was a woman who’d meant something to him once. Still did, if her presence meant anything, and she had no reason to doubt that. The people there were close-knit.

Great, probably an ex- or not so ex-girlfriend.

“So have you retired your bachelor shoes?” Raven’s tone was mocking as she leaned back against the counter, watching him. “No. We’re not going steady. But I’m an adult and I can like the people I’m with. I prefer it that way.” Raven snorted. “You’ll get over it when the novelty wears off.”

“Where was her father during all this? Staring at a canvas while you did all the work? God, sometimes men are such lazy assholes. They can spot a doormat a mile away. He had your number,” Raven said.

“I’ve known Raven for about fifteen years now. She is who she is. You can’t make her anything else.” He shrugged.

She shook her head. “Oh, no way. She’s important to you, clearly an ex of some sort on some level. This is a no-win for me.”

“Even the most well-adjusted woman on the planet would be weirded out by the constant inclusion of the exgirlfriend of the man she’s seeing. It’s petty, I admit it.”

“Where I had all this stuff anchoring me—family, a job, a community—Raven didn’t. She was a free spirit and I couldn’t get enough. She was everything I couldn’t be.

I fell and I fell hard. She told me not to. She told me that she wasn’t into longterm exclusive relationships. And when it came to it, she cheated. Well, not really cheated; she fucked someone else and didn’t hide it. To her, hiding it would have made it cheating.”

So you can probably guess I didn’t end it. I kept at it for a few years on and off. It broke me, or I let it break me. Whatever. But when Adele was killed, she came and ran my shop for months. She refused to let me pay her anything but straight commission. She handled everything up here. She stepped in during the hardest time of my life and she gave me exactly what I needed.

“So she’s just, well she’s just Raven. She’s not perfect. She’s not even likeable half the time. But she stood up for me and my loved ones when we needed it most. She’s been an amazing friend to Erin through all she’s gone through. She’s special to me, but I don’t make the mistake of not knowing exactly what she is and what she’s capable of. She’s not selfish, not really.”

Raven had come on to him at Thanksgiving, and no, she hadn’t understood his promise to Elise. Part of him had been very sad that she’d wanted him to break a promise to anyone else. He’d said no, and Raven would be out of Seattle for a while, but Elise Sorenson was a very smart lady.

“Like I need to play on the Wii when you’re there willing to fuck me. Video games are what men invented to fill the sex void. Any man who’d choose video games over sex deserves to live in his mother’s basement with his mint-condition, in-box Star Wars figurines and his real doll.”

“Hi, Elise.” Raven approached and put her arms around Brody’s waist. It wasn’t unusual, Raven was physically affectionate with most of her friends. At the same time, it made him uncomfortable, it felt forced and for an audience.

“Your girlfriend is like model-perfect.” Raven approached and handed him a soda. “Is that why you’re always needling her?” Adrian asked.

His anger wisped away at the sadness in her tone. Raven was a lost soul. He’d never be her lover again, but he still cared about her. Despite her flaws, she’d helped him when he’d needed it most. He’d never forget that. He smiled, wishing deep down that she’d get her shit together and let herself be loved.

But I’m going to work really hard not to do it too much, and you’re going to try and accept me the way I am. Flaws and all. Because I’m good in bed, and I can carry heavy things and reach high shelves.”

“Hey, Brody.” Raven plopped herself into his lap and put her arms around his neck. He raised his brows at her. “Raven, what brings you to my lap?” “I like it here. It’s just the right size for me. You haven’t played with me for a long time. I feel neglected.”

“Pfft romance. See, that’s what I mean. Before she came along we didn’t need romance. We had fucking. Do you remember fucking?”

“Isn’t it just like Little Miss Helpless to heap her crap on you, the big man who will fix her life for her. The Brody I knew would have steered clear of a woman like that. Is her pussy magic? What is so appealing about her? She’s got a kid. You can’t go out very often because she’s got a kid! You don’t go to shows anymore. You’ve turned into an old married man and your wife is like a freaking PTA president or something. Don’t you miss exciting women?”

She launched herself at him, her lips landing on his, and for one moment he responded because he always had before. And then, just as quickly, he grabbed her by the waist and set her back from him.

“If you just give us another try, I know we can make it. You looked at me like that once, why not again?”

“Oh sure, blame me. We used to have adult fun, now there are kids everywhere and we have to watch our mouths. Boring. By the way, Brody kissed me not too long ago. Don’t think I can’t have him if I want. I have had him. I’ll have him again. You can’t hold him, you have nothing to offer.”

She shrugged. While she was willing to try and see another side of Raven, while she’d actually seen part of that today in the hall near the elevators, she wouldn’t expose Rennie to Raven again anytime soon.

I won’t have her around that sort of instability. I don’t want to be around it either. I dealt with it enough for ten lifetimes and I won’t do it again. She’s something to you, but she’s nothing to me and she doesn’t want to be, so fine. But don’t ever imagine that I’d put my child at risk, because I won’t.”

Raven made a face. “It sucks that she’s so nice.”

I loved this book!

After the kink-fest of the first in the Brown Siblings series – Laid Bare – I delayed starting this one until I felt brave enough to read it. But apart from one very unexpected visit to Erin, Todd and Ben’s bedroom, this is a gorgeously swoony, fairly straight (and freaking HOT) romance.

Brody is Erin’s sexy, responsible, tattoo-artist older brother (who I fell for a little bit in the last book), and this is the story of him meeting and falling for Elise, a single mother with a tragic past, yet who is brave and strong and 100% together. These are two of the most genuine, kind, loving characters that I have ever read. They are honest, and no-nonsense, and FUNCTIONAL (yes, with shouty caps).

Upon meeting, Brody and Elise are immediately drawn to each other. With both of them acknowleding the chemistry sizzling between them but neither of them wanting any emotional entanglements, they agree to a 'friend with benefits' arrangement. The sex may be steamy but the romance is a slow burn as what starts out as casual but monogamous changes into a very easy boyfriend-girlfriend relationship, and then into so much more. There is no mucking about for these two, they just roll with what they’re feeling, and live their lives. Elise’s past comes back to cause problems, but they just face it and carry on, and I loved every moment of it! There was no unnecessary drama, everything was straight up, and wow that was refreshing!

Elise’s precocious daughter, Rennie is a great character, and there’s lots of time with Brody’s family and friends that we met in the previous book. But the focus is well and truly on Brody and Elise and their beautifully unfolding romance – told from both of their POVs, bonus!

A gorgeous little read, I recommend this to anybody who loves a good, easy, romantic story. If you’re freaked out by the kinkiness of the first book of the series, you could probably skip it and go straight for this one. Although you would miss out on some of the earlier character development, Coming Undone would still be enjoyable as a stand-alone.

I loved it, and can't wait for more with the story of the flirty man-whore himself, Ben's brother Cope.

4 swoony stars.

About 80% in & I can't take anymore. I'm done.
Lauren Dane manages to retell the same story in many different ways.

Lauren Dane books I have read:

Giving Chase - Heroine is stalked & abducted by ex-boyfriend. Hero is there for her, tells her she is perfect, consoles her & brings her back to the world of the living where everything is bright & cheery & perfect.

Taking Chase: Chase Brothers, Book 2 - Heroine is running from her old life, her ex-husband who almost killed her & finds the hero, who ultimately resolves her problem (ex hubby) & makes the world right & cheery & full of rainbows again.

Laid Bare - Heroine is attacked by a stalker, who ends up murdering someone special to her, and now she lives with the echo of her loss. Heroes (there are 2) therapeutically fuck her back to her senses after she confronts the stalker now killer. Everything is bright & cheery & so very fucking wonderful again.

Coming Undone - Heroine is beaten by her hubby, now harassed by his family, runs right into the hero's arms. Where - and I'm only guessing here since I made it to 80% of the book - he makes everything right & bright & cheery & sooooo fantastically great again.

Also, the sex in this book was BORING. DOWNRIGHT BORING. The author added a sex scene from the characters of Laid Bare to spice up the book because it was so damn BORING.

So, why my 2 star rating? Because I ALMOST finished the book.

If you're in the mood for a story that centers around a dominating man, who really isn't dominating at all; a self doubting abused female who needs to meet said man to set her life straight and BORING sex, this is most definitely the book for you.

Coming Undone: 2 star DNF

This book has gotten some rave reviews. I love the characters and the premise behind the book. Sexy Tatted up bad but covert good guy. A strong heroine fighting her past with a cute tot. Great themes here!! But...OMG this book IMHO is written terribly. The prose is so unnatural and choppy. It's a hard read! Sentence fluency and word choice needs to be corrected. Did no editor catch this? Every review said the sex was great and I can only hope that the climax (I can easily guess what the "life threatening situation is) is good. However, I have to be able to get to the sex and the climax of the book. this book for me was not worth reading in order to get to the seemingly good parts. Not to mention I couldn't wrap my mind around his sisters menage a trois (hope i spelled that right) relationship. The worst part about this book...IT WASNT EVEN GOOD AT BEING BAD. Some books are so freaking bad you can't help but finish them and laugh your way to the end. This book was just bad enough for me to be able to hate it put it in the scrap pile.

I can't believe this author has a contract and more books in this series will be published. Thats just to true to be good

This is one that pretty much everyone has read (and loved) already. I'm on a mission to finally read all those books I've had forever - and this series floated to the top.

I loved Brody - I mean, who wouldn't? Hot,successful, tattooed, motorcycle riding sweetheart. There isn't anything not to love. He's perfect.

I really loved Elise too. Again, strong but still soft, awesome mom, charms (almost) everyone in her path. Never seemed to over react and keeps it all together when the rest of us mortals would be heading for the loony bin.

Maybe that was the issue. Maybe they just both felt a little TOO perfect. Too understanding, too rational all the time. Real people just aren't like that (at least not every moment of
Every day).

At the same time, I can't help but appreciate a slow-to-grow relationship between truly awesome and comparable people.
I loved that Elise was such ann great mom and really put Reenie first all the time - and it was lovely to see Brody fall in love with the little girl as well as her mother.

I see why people loved this one - and I wish I could have loved it too. But still, a good read overall.

Coming Undone is the 2nd book in the Brown Family Series by Lauren Dane. This book follows Brody and Elise. Brody raised his siblings for years. Now that they are grown, he is finally free to live his own life and run his business. Brody doesn't have a problem with being single, he's got his family and he's fine with things the way they are until he meets Elise. Elise has moved to Seattle with her young daughter to find peace and quiet and start over; she never planned on falling for someone especially someone like Brody. The two forge a quick and easy friendship when each ends up needing help from one another in unlucky circumstances.

I read book 1 Laid Bare because it sounded good and I owned this book; I started reading this book mostly because I owned it. Any other reasons you may ask? Not really. I have to admit though that I am in love with most of the characters. Even from book one I fell easily in love with them and became invested in their lives. As for the rest of this book, it really just didn't work for me. The pacing seemed too slow, nothing ever seemed to be happening and when it was it was the same things being said over and over again, and the story seemed to take forever!

I had originally planned to continue on with the next books in the series, but after finishing this one, I decided I wasn't going to-at least right now. For now, I think I'm going to take a break from Dane's work and check out some other things.

I hope I can convey what didn't work for me in this book. I had heard a lot of good things about CU and for Brody alone I would give it 5 stars, but will give it 2 instead. What an incredible hunk of guy. Brody...wow...It was like LD plucked the perfect man out of my head and wrote about him.

No my problem was with Elise and her "I am a failure" line. I got so sick of it. She is a great mother and running her own business and was a successful ballerina until her ex broke her leg in 3 places..oh yes that was the night she shot him to death...well duh I would have to. It is called self-defense.

Brody and his sister told her this, but yet she was still saying it. Then she tells Erin Brody's sister about what had happened before she told Brody. I just didn't get that. I would understand if this was a chiclit book, but this was a romance about Brody and Elise. I just felt he should have been told first.

Then we have the entire weak plot of the grandparents. I would have had a cease and desist order against those two freaks before you could say court order. But I know we have to for the story...it just didn't work for me.

Then we have Brody and Elise together for over a year now and all this time she keeps saying that her and a daughter are a package deal. I can understand if Brody didn't let on like he didn't like Irene, but he was always clear that he liked her and eventually loved her.(like a dad would, I mean.) So the constant reminders got on my nerves.

The love scenes were hot and plentiful, but they couldn't save the story line for me. Don't even get me started on the Rayven chic. Ugh. For those that don't like menage situations, there is one chapter of Erin and her mens in a sex scene, but you can skip that chapter and not be lost.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

3.5 stars
4 stars for the couple
3 stars for development
3.5 stars for dialogue, phoenix tattoo, and family

Took me some time to get to this series. I took a leaf from my tendency with KA series and started out with the second book, mostly because this plot with Brody and Elise held more appeal.
The 1st book, a menage, which I'm normally not in the mood to read, may be next coz a glimpse of the threesome in this book was...interesting.

Loved the heroine's gumption, and I doubly loved the hero's...everything (except his friendship with a certain woman)!

Yet, it still took me too long to read this story because there was something unappealing about the sequence and development of the plot. Also, though I give this couple credit, their characters and backstories just weren't give enough emotion or colour to justify the seriousness assigned to them.

Full review to come. Then, maybe my rating will inch up. Or not:D

Good

3.75 ⭐️

I enjoyed this one more than the previous as I didn’t find Brady as annoying as Todd. I loved Brody and his need to protect his family. While on the outside he was big and scary he really was a teddy bear. I enjoyed that his past with Erin and helping her after her attack made him aware and quick to understand Elise’s fear when loomed over and grabbed. He adjusted his approach very quickly when he realised.

I loved Elise, I thought she was a great female lead. She protected her child, and even though her dreams were crushed and she couldn’t dance professionally again she always looked on the bright side and never complained.

Her in-laws were horrible and got exactly what they deserved, actually they deserved more but at least they got something taken from them.

1 star - Ugh! This book was so blah! "He - I think you're sexy. She - No, I think you're sexy. He - I want to do you. She - I want to do you too." I could have written this book that's how bad it was! The pinnacle of badness is when this woman - who is over 30 years old - tells this man - who is almost 40 - "I love you like cupcakes." He - "Wow, that's a lot of love. And as a plus, you can lick me anytime." What the fu*k!!!! The story is just superfluous to the badness of the writing, so I won't even give you a cursory rundown.

Now as bad as I'm ranting about the book, I have really liked Lauren Dane's other books. She just has to keep the monkey away from the keyboard.

She was coming undone and there was nothing to do but let it happen.

The second book of Brown Siblings series, featuring Brody Brown, the oldest son, and Elise Sorenson.

I have a mix feeling about this one. Not quite good as the first book, Laid Bare . Some part are boring, with capital B. Just people talk, chat, greeting each other, have parties, like what you do to your neighbor. Elise and Brody relationship not as deep like Erin-Todd-Ben at Laid Bare. It can be understanding, since they just friend with benefit for the first, but I just feel a little connection with them.

What I love from Coming Undone is family theme at this book, both from Brody and Elise family. Like always, Brown siblings support each other and Elise parents help her to face her ex parents in laws, The Sorensons, while they try to get Elise's daughter, Rennie. Rennie herself is adorable. I don't mind with character have a child. Sometimes it can be annoying for some story, sometimes it feel natural like what Ms Dane do in Coming Undone. Rennie is cute, energetic, and chatter, you will hope to have daughter like her :).

Elise is strong woman, but she's to much blame herself, always feeling guilty, sometimes make me want to slapped her and get over it. Brody, has a bad boy vibe, pierced, tattooed, he is a tattoo artist after all, and riding a big bike. But his heart as big as the moon. He's kind of big brother do you wish to have for and a nice, caring man you want to married with.

This is what Brody must look alike, just minus tattoo ( I can't do photoshop, so I can't give it tattoo :( ) :

VROOM, VROOOM, RAWRRR!! :))

The steamy factor not too hot as the first, what make me a little bit surprise, ad not too frequent and creative (except that one when they have sex face the mirror, fyuuuh).Because well, Elise and Brody must deal with Elise issues. She live with her daughter Rennie. And of course she doesn't want her daughter know she have "intimate relationship" with Brody, even at the last they show their love and act naturally. But, fans of Erin-Todd-Ben will rejoiced, since Ms Dane write their sex scene, and I admit that is hotter than Brody-Elise do.

Brown Siblings series seems have heroine deal with their abused past, like Erin at Laid Bare, and Elise at this book. Next book is about Ella, Erin co-worker and Andrew Copeland, Ben's lil' brother. Ella is abused too, and I want to know how Andrew will heal her at Inside Out

The second book for the Brown family. I found it not as good as the first, but its still a good erotic romance. You’ll read about the whole family again plus you get another glimpse into Erin’s bedroom with her two men, so this one does have m/m and more m/m interaction then in the first book. You still get excitement, mixed emotions with a added bonus of a hot tattoo, body piercing man with a goatee named Brody who owns his own tattoo studio.

Spoilers
Elise and daughter Rennie moves across the street form Brody after something horrible happens to her a few years back. Elise finds Brody across the street to be a hot looking bad boy. Well one day while Brody was checking his mail someone runs over him with a car , Elise see what happens she tells Rennie to get the cell phone and first aid kit. Brody calls Elsie a angel. When Brody comes home form hospital is when things heats up between them. Both Brody and Elise have a relationship more like friends with benefits, but no sleeping around on each other.

I found Elise easy to read. With all she goes through she is strong. Daughter does not get in the way, Dane does a great job with adding her in the story. Brody is great sexy hot guy anyone would want. The only beef I had was Raven, but I guess you have to have a bad guy somewhere. This book brings Adrian Brown in more, so you get to know a little on him. I assume the next book will be about him.

Well, one thing is for certain, the emotional intensity was definitely present throughout COMING UNDONE. I am in love with Brody...what a wonderful man.

Single mom, Elise has been emotionally and physically abused--duh! What novel would be complete without the wounded dove? Now, in a new town she finds friendship and love in the most unexpected place...in her front yard, well, technically across the street--semantics. This was a great story of new beginnings and letting go of the past...of loving and being loved. I started this book jones-ing for some hot sex and I got a whole lot more. I was actually crying at the end-seriously. Whew! Emotional.

Another thing that I loved about it, was that we saw a lot of Erin, Ben, Todd and Adrian. I am looking forward to book 3. I have yet to be disappointed! Check out this series if you like contemporary romance reads!

Oh, wow!!!! This book was absolutely perfect.

All I can say is that there is NOTHING sexier than a tough, badass man who's really just a big marshmallow inside. Brody Brown was all that and more. And the fact that he was also covered in tattoos: even better! The man definitely knew his way in the bedroom, as well as to Elise's heart.

This book is definitely going into my "all-time favorites" shelf. It had everything. One minute I was fanning myself after reading the sizzling hot sex scenes, and the next minute tearing up at the romance. All that was combined with a charming, adorable child and crazy relatives to make this book one of the best that I've read.

So much better than Laid Bare. I've had this one for a while but put it off because I didn't like Laid Bare. I had to reread my review as to why, but this book was awesome. It was everything I expected it to be sweet, sexy and I loved both Brody and Elsie and I can't wait to read book 3, Inside Out (Brown Siblings, #3) by Lauren Dane and I look forward to release day of book 4!

Reasons to love this book:

•Our Beloved Characters: I read and loved Laid bare, and COMING UNDONE is focusing on Brody who is Erin’s brother from Laid Bare…that means that we get to meet again all the characters we came to love. I’m always torn when there is to be another book with a different POV, when you’ve loved a character and got your HEA you want it to stay that way. And reading a book where you know you’ll see them through someone else’s eyes is scary, it can ruin a character for you…well it can for me. This is not the case here, i was SO happy to see Erin, Ben, Todd and Adrian again it was a pleasure to see what happened to them after the end of Laid Bare. (And there was an ‘extra pleasure’ but it get its own point a bit later in my review ;) ) If you haven’t read Laid Bare get out of here!….errr no i mean it’s not a problem it can be read as a stand-alone (but who would want that?!)

•Brody: That character alone would be reason enough to read this book. Sexy, sweet, funny, Big Tattooed Brody…Hot indeed, Brody is teh smex on a stick seriously…well It might help that i love tattoos and muscles lol (this is hardly ever a bad combination) . Brody is the neighbor every woman dreams to have. I just love how responsible he is and he’s always been there for his family and those he loves in general. And what a lover! Oh yes ladies that man knows what he’s doing…

•A strong heroine: Elise is a very loveable character, i loved how dedicated she was to her daughter. She’s suffered a lot but she’s strong and doesn’t need someone to save her. Elise is haunted by the traumatic events from her past. I was a bit annoyed at the fact that she wanted to ‘survive’ by herself and did not want to burden the people around her, which made her very stubborn sometimes…but she cannot bear to be controlled again, which i understand. (I know I'm contradicting myself here, but you know sometimes you have to learn to lean on someone else a bit).

• Family: This book is filled with great characters and one of them is Rennie (aka Irene). Elise’s daughter is an amazing child. I was afraid when i read that the heroine already had a child…Children in romances, particularly when from a previous marriage, are often a baggage, a burden…not here…Rennie is as much the heroine as Elise. The relationship between Brody and the child was so sweet my cheeks aches from smiling. Also family is important for all the characters, Brody’s relationship with his siblings is fantastic, I'm an only child and i would have loved to have this kind of relationship with siblings.

•The Smex: I left the best for the end, the smex! I have to say the smex is sizzling between Elise and Brody, Holy Cow i had to sit on ice to cool down a bit! Don’t you forget that our heroine is a Ballerina….how flexible is she? lol well you’ll have to read it to know the answer ;)
•The BONUS Smex: Lauren Dane is getting cookie points for chapter 16….Oh my, chapter 16! I won’t tell you what this one is about I'll just quote you the beginning of the scene:

‘She unlocked her front door and put her coat in the closet and
her bag on the table. Moments later she heard the groan and she ran
hot, knowing just exactly what that sound meant. She undressed
quickly and quietly, then headed up to the master bedroom and
stopped at the entrance.’

That’s when things get real hot i tell you! I think I've read this chapter 4 times already. You can’t blame the girl! (Dirty minded much? oh yes!) Warning you might burst into flames while reading this chapter. You might want to leave a fire-extinguisher near just in case.

What didn’t really work for me:

•A sense of Déjà-vu: The story is a bit too similar to the one in Laid Bare, the heroine is going through nearly the same thing : her past haunting her and coming back to bite her in the ass/trial/resolution. Don’t get me wrong it works perfectly for the story and i enjoyed every moment of it but i did get a sense of déjà-vu sometimes. (well i had to find something negative to say, hadn’t i?)

Now that we got the story for Erin and Brody i can only hope we’ll get Adrian’s book?(last of the siblings) Well a girl can hope, can’t she? Adrian is verra drool-worthy , and a Rock Star is bound to have lived a few smexy things of his own ;) There are so many amazing characters is this ‘series’ that I'm sad to part with them. I felt a bit sorry for Raven and i was hoping to see her get some kind of HEA too.

I’ll be pre-ordering COMING UNDONE soon because this book is definitely going on my keeper-shelf as soon as it’s released. COMING UNDONE doesn’t disappoint, both Hot and Sweet you won’t be able to stop once started. I will be rereading it that’s for sure. Thank you Lauren Dane for delivering once again an amazing book
