Not My Fault: Tales of Midlife Idiosyncrasies is a funny and lovely short story collection based on the real-life incidents of the author, Saurabh Bhat. Each story in this collection brings a new flavour to the table, but one spice remains permanent in the recipe with which this book is cooked, and that is humor.
The author has told all these stories in a humorous tone. There are stories of some embarrassing moments, some frustrating moments, and many more, and the best thing is that the author not only laughs at these but also makes the reader laugh with amusement. All the stories are fun and relatable.
My favourite short story was The Art of Forgetfulness. The author has a witty writing style filled with humor. The book is a short read and contains ten short stories. I enjoyed reading this a lot, and it also made me laugh. I do recommend it.

An eloquent piece of autobiographical fiction from a middle class famiy man-that is how this eloquent piece of art can be defined.The author is very much keen on emphasising his mediocrity and idiosyncrancy from the very beginning.It is his ubiquitous usage of high-flown language and rhetorics to describe the ordinary household events that generates much humour.Each chapter offers several instances where reader gets redirected to his own domestic sphere.A typical nuclear family engrossed with metropolitan culture is palpable throughout the work.While the modern day living induces greater amount of boredom and eccentricity, the author tries rusticate his life with his innate banter and playfulness.On one instance,author humorously narrates the story of his hair cut by his wife during corona times by adding more drama to the whole scenario.What is outstanding in his work is the excellent fluency in language with the most appropriate usage of words.The words form a garland of exquisite art and leaves an indelible impression on readers.His undaunting skill in narrating facetious events matches well with the mundane experiences which he refers to.Cultural diversity across India is portrayed through his detailed and vast description of food and culture in Mumbai and Delhi.Any outsider shall find this diversity and differences interesting and alluring. All the hosuehold members including househelps with definite set of tasks to do represents a typical Indian mindset.By adding an extra dose of drama to each and every mundane incident, he triumphs in creating his work an unavoidable and unforgettable one.Admiration from readers of all walks of life shall therefore ensues.

Firstly, huge respect and great appreciation to the author Saurabh Bhat for writing such a masterpiece of a book. Through the discussion of the story line, in the book were many surprises waiting page after page which made it super exciting. I personally don't like it as it destroys the author's effort of trying to weave a story and giving spoilers is never a great experience for me. However, "Not My Fault: Tales of Midlife Idiosyncrasies" by Saurabh Bhat is a delightful collection of hilarious and funny short stories that offer a glimpse into the idiosyncrasies of middle-class life. With his witty writing style, author takes us on a journey through various incidents that impact us in unexpected ways.
The book consists of ten chapters. A unique way of index is shown by the author. I really enjoyed this insightful book. It is so clearly and logically organised as well as being extremely readable. These Stories are easy to negotiate and it flows seamlessly. Author's choice of language, the specification of the language, the consonance of the language, everything has been shown to be skillful.
This is an entertaining and light-hearted read that offers a refreshing perspective on middle-class life. Author's witty storytelling and relatable characters make this collection a must-read for anyone seeking laughter and amusement in their literary escapades. "The advantage of having two accident-prone children is that after some time, you start getting the feeling that someone up there likes them — definitely not you — and that things get taken care of eventually."
A mix of humorous anecdotes and sly life lessons, Saurabh Bhat's 'Not My Fault' is such a treat. With this book, I have found my first best read of 2023. The author has a beautiful conversational tone when narrating a story, giving off a homey vibe. I love how he plays with the words and creates life around his character in such short sentences. Each chapter is a short story in itself, and it gently connects me to the happenings.
When I tell you I find it extremely difficult to select a favourite chapter, I mean it. Each of them was immensely relatable, so much so that I wish someone would forward the Family Nursing Home chapter to the family groups. Also, the line between fiction and real-life anecdotes almost disappears with each story. It feels unassumingly real but also like it was concocted out of the author's imagination.
Overall, this is a read that made me smile and feel happy. The witty yet smooth writing style made me complete the entire book in a single sitting.

Ours is a nation that is renowned to have so many different faces and if we are to peel each and every single layer, we will certainly find a variety of so many distinct facets.
Despite of this, there can be see a dichotomy that exists in our lifestyle and thoughts that most of us possess, but do not even have a clue about until we are reminded of them.
Therefore, all of this makes us different from any other, alongwith strongly confirming the stance that there are certain things which can happen only in our households, and the same can be seen in the book, ‘Not My Fault’ by Saurabh Bhat.
The hilarious take of the author on some of the incidences that took place was albeit quite funny and there were also many times, wherein we as readers, could picture our own selves into the situation, and see how the incidence would pan out for us.
Making someone laugh is definitely not an easy task, yet this book does it right from the first story, to the very end page, hence it is safe to say that the credit surely goes to the amazing writing style. Hence I am going to give this FIVE STARS ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Just completed "Not My Fault : Tales of Midlife Idiosyncrasies" written by Saurabh Bhat. I am unable to stop myself to express my feelings after gone through this story. As a reader I have gone through several short stories but this was the outstanding.
One of the standout aspects of this collection is author's skillful portrayal of relatable characters. Each story features individuals who could easily be our neighbors, friends, or even ourselves. Their quirks and eccentricities add depth to the narratives and make them all the more enjoyable.
The author has successfully implanted the emotions in the characters, given them perfect space to develop and plotted and ample of unpredictable twists and turns in every chapter. It will hook the readers till it's the very end of this reading. The language of the book is very simple and clear, understandable.
Overall, I loved the book and strongly recommend fellow readers to give it a try. And lastly, I'd thank the man who edited this cover, else it would have taken more or less months to come across the read, post finishing the other books of my collection.

Let's start out by praising the stunning cover. It radiates a strong sense of aesthetics and would look lovely on any book shelf. The colour palette is also really attractive.
Furthermore, despite what some may say, I absolutely judge a book by its cover, just like the majority of people, and I suppose my assessment of this book was accurate. It was incredibly enjoyable to me. I enjoy reading short stories, and they frequently assist me in breaking out of reading slumps. There are ten short stories in all, and while I liked them all, "The Flat Tyre" was my fave. The negotiation of stories is simple, and they flow naturally.
The lockdown conundrum is hilariously and effectively captured in these stories. Laughable dialogue and some much-needed satire have been added by the author.

I know that a book should not be judged by its cover. But looking at this beautiful cover, I could not resist myself from picking this up to read it.
The book has not disappointed me at all. Author Saurabh Bhat did an excellent job in writing this book 'Not My Fault'.
This wonderful book contains 10 short stories-each of them is unique and has its own flavour. They are based on daily events of any typical middle-class family.
Some stories are so relatable that I was visualising the scenes described in the book by the author.
Perfect blend of humor, emotions, family drama and many more other aspects are found in this book, in every story.
Among all these amazing stories my personal favourites are — The Delhi Wedding Part 1 & 2, Dog Bytes, The Art of Forgetfulness.
The language of the book is simple yet beautiful.
I highly recommend this book to everyone who is looking for a flavorful read.

Not my fault by Saurabh Bhat is an interesting story. The book is a combination of 10 chapters and 105 pages. That much short the book is. This classic story of a middle class family man. Who writes the mundane dat today activity happening in a family in the era of of pandemic. While the modern day of living comes with its boredom, the author tried best to humour throughout his daily life. He humorously narrates the story of haircut, which was done by his wife and instructed by his daughter in the time of corona. That mere moment was mundane. But it held warmth and familiar feeling..
Each chapter was related to day today life. The simplicity every chapter held plus the author tried to humour the readers throughout his writing.

The book consists of lots of short stories ,the entire book is funny and and interesting.In this book we can find a happiness of a original human being,And in this book saurab uses the self-deprecation ,and according to me this is a great and interesting book by saurab bhat.And the language used is also very interesting and good to read and makes us feel comfortable through out the entire story.

This book is a collection of short stories about some hilarious situations and encounters in life of middle class family.
My most favourite one was about attending a wedding. The protagonist and his family prepare for a rich wedding way in advance before they even got the invitation. They book flight tickets and did shopping. The protagonist also compares Mumbai and Delhi weddings. The various situations at wedding were totally entertaining to read. Another story about catching a train at the last moment and typical Indian things at a railway station was also hilarious.
I liked all the stories. Every story is relatable at some or other point of time to any Indian. The language is suitable to all types of readers. I have enjoyed reading this book. If you're looking for something light and humourous to read, this is a perfect book to devour on a weekend afternoon.

This book is a beautiful compilation of our day to day idiosyncrasies and the way we as human have to deal with it, especially the people who have approached the mid life and are facing a crisis whether to face the adversities bravely or in a satirical way.
There are short and easy chapters on various incidents that we face in our daily life and you will feel very drawn to each story and be able to relate to them. The way Saurabh tells stories, with his personality idiosyncrasies serving as a backdrop and his language being like a perfectly balanced flavour, makes you want to hear more even if they wouldn't be the subjects of much interest to an audience. I really love reading short stories and that is why when I got to know about this book, I immediately pick it up to read it.
I must say that this is the most relatable fiction book that I recently read.
