Stone City is a quiet town in rural Illinois with a crime rate of practically zero, that is until, a serial killer materializes and begins to wreak havoc by murdering the town’s beautiful, brunette women. After he strikes, all that’s left is a long line of bodies with toe tags and heartbroken families.
As the fatalities add up, citizens of Stone City panic and pressure the local authorities to put the culprit behind bars. Sheriff Earl Davis and his loyal lieutenant, Ricky Jensen, will stop at nothing to catch the killer, even if it means sacrificing everything to save their town.

Wow! Earl, the sheriff. A very well compiled character. The story was interesting and kept me reading to find out why these murders were happening. Childhood trauma or nature? Serial killers will never be completely explained. Loved this book! Thank you Lauren Lee!
This is my fourth book by Lee, and I have to say that she’s become one of my go to authors. I’m continually impressed with each and every book she writes. Her words pull you in, and her crazy/heroic/colorful characters keep you hooked until the very end. Lee has a sharp mind, and it’s evident in Running in Circles. The emotions swirling through the book are contagious. From Sheriff Earl Davis’s exhaustive resolve and Lieutenant Ricky Jensen’s wet-behind-the-ears but eager foray into his career, to glimpses into the killer’s mind and backstory… I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Lee writes with emotion, and I felt all the feels while sitting on the edge of my seat during this ride. Running in Circles is a story that tugs at your heartstrings while leaving you entirely appalled at the same time. At the end, I felt so many different emotions it was like I was the one running in circles. Because that’s what your mind does when you read this—skittering over the pages with a desperate determination to find the killer before he/she reaches his/her next victim. I found myself reading so fast I had to force myself to take a breath and slow down! Give Running in Circles a try… You won’t be disappointed!
Laurèn Lee is at it again with her newest novel Running in Circles!
Have you ever wondered why a serial killer becomes a serial killer? How one could be pushed so far to the edge of killing someone? But not just one person … a number of people? What was their childhood like? Their parents? Their friends? Can we blame the serial killer … entirely?
These are questions that often baffle us when we learn about serial killers, we want all the answers and sometimes, we just aren’t rewarded with them.
Laurèn Lee, however, has written the perfect book for you!
A serial killer is on the loose in Stone City and it’s up to Sheriff Earl Davis, lieutenant Ryan Jensen, and you—the reader—to put together the pieces and figure out who is responsible for bringing tragedy to their small town.
I found my heart breaking and justifying some of the serial killers actions as I learned more about their past and their motives for future murders. Laurèn Lee had me questioning about how I’ve treated people in the past and how I treat people now, while answering all the questions I’ve had. This serial killer may be fictional, but it burns the questions into your mind on previous serial killers … and even those in the future.
You never know what someone is going through, what could be their final push, and what they are capable of. We always claim that no one we know could ever be a serial killer … but the town Sheriff’s department in Stone City are forced to ask all the difficult questions, even the ones that seem unfathomable.
So do yourself a favor, treat yourself to this book and join Earl and Ryan in their investigation. Do you think you can figure out who the serial killer is before them? My guess is probably not, but that’s half the fun! I promise you won’t regret it!
This was a fast-paced, interesting read, that I found I did not want to put down! Great, multi-faceted characters. Suspenseful and thrilling. Kept me intrigued from the first page to the last.
