If you are a youth soccer coach and care about developing an appreciation of the game among your players, this book is a must read. Wein's primary thesis is that young players should be trained in fun, imaginative ways to develop skills, work together and, most importantly, taught to think for themselves and with each other as they play the game. Unlike most American coaches who try to dictate everything on the field, Wein realizes that the best players make their own decisions. They just need the skills to think more creatively. All of Wein's books should be required reading for every youth soccer administrator in the U.S. He is the most knowledgeable person on youth soccer development in the world. (I read German edition.)
