Anne Perreault was born and raised in Germany. Her family moved to a very obscure city in the Middle East by the name of Dubai, where she spent the next ten years on and off. During this time, she discovered her passion for ice skating, trained, rode, and fell off high spirited Arabian horses, and collected an assortment of stray cats that found their way into their yard. She attended an American boarding school in Austria. After graduating, she moved to England for a year to start her college education. After meeting her husband, she moved to the US and finished her undergraduate degree in Biology in NH. The couple married and moved to CT to start a family. During the next fifteen years, Anne was busy raising three wonderful children, teaching horseback riding, homeschooling her kids, starting a therapeutic riding center with a group of church friends after becoming a certified instructor, and gaining her masters in teaching secondary education. Because she wasn't busy enough and didn't have enough going on, she prayed for an adventure. God stirred the pot of her comfortable life by first sending her husband to Iraq for two years. After his return, the family moved to VT where they are building a little house in the woods together. Anne started writing late in life when she heard God's suggestion. It took a while to obey but she's enjoyed writing stories that point that God cares, that He is available for anyone - no matter what they have done.
I really enjoyed this story!! Nicolette took awhile to grow on me, but Blake!! Oh, my, he was my hero from the start!! How he could put up with Nicolette was beyond me at a few points! Nicolette claims to be a Christian; however, she definitely had a lot of maturing to do in her relationship with God when her life went in a direction she did NOT want to go! She was wanting God to be more of the genie in the bottle than the Ruler and Creator of the Universe, Who had good plans for her, in spite of her circumstances and life changes. By the end of the book, I was liking her more, when she finally realized her life wasn't over, and God take any and all circumstances and make us better than we were before, and have a closer, richer relationship with Him.
I received a complimentary copy of this book, was not required to leave a review, and the opinion expressed is my own.
I absolutely adored this story! Without giving away any details, because there are plenty of aspects of this book that I could easily talk about, let me just say that this book is aptly named. Both Nicolette and Blake have had their share of struggles and have both worked hard to move forward with their lives. They met each other while at their worst and yet took the chance at being friends. That was 4 years ago and they have been best friends ever since. Nicolette is now doing something she loves, training horses. And Blake, has started his own company along with his four legged best friend, Jax, that uses dogs to protect in big and small venues across the country. But, Nikki's past is about to catch up with her and both she and Blake will need to find courage in order to move forward with who they are individually as well as who they are as best friends. And that courage can only be found in Christ. In the knowledge that He knows what is best for their lives, they just need to trust. I loved the trials....the ups and downs....the realism in the situations they are dealing with...the humor....the banter....the message! Finding Courage is a must read story.
I was given an ARC of this book by the author in exchange for my honest review.
Nicolette Dubois and Blake Matheson are best friends who found each other when each of their life’s were at rock bottom. How will their story unfold, will they finally be together or be torn apart by doubt, blame and fear.
Finding Courage is a marvelous inspirational story by the very talented Anne Perreault. This story is full of terror, jaw dropping suspense, faith, friendship and love. I could really relate to the main character Nicolette because she faced things in her life that I myself have also faced. I absolutely love Blake and his K9 dog Jax both are my hero’s. This book is a absolute page turner.
Finding Courage, is a vividly breathtaking and an emotionally driven novel about a woman who's gone through a scary past, only for it to come back and haunt her. When she is faced with another hard trial that changes her world entirely, will she be able to accept the changes and give it to God?
Courage, is a needed commodity during this time.
This book for some, will give a much needed deep reminder that God is in control and what it means to go through hard things as a believer. "We walk by faith, not by sight." 2 Corinthians 5:7
Anne Perrault takes you on an emotional roller coaster ride.
When I started this book I thought I knew what was going to happen. Boy was I wrong. An unexpected twist took the story in a completely different direction and the title took on a whole new, deeper meaning. What a great read. The struggles these characters faced were about as personal as they could possibly be and dealing with the consequences that they could not escape brought depth to the story.
Anne Perrault does a great job of always bringing you into the story. She did not disappoint with this book! I love how this book dealt with trauma and healing after the trauma. She really touched on the different stages of emotion that people go through. I laughed. I cried. It was a great story.
This was such a sweet read. I honestly had no idea where the author was going with the story line and I was quite impressed. It was a fantastic clean read. It brought tears, tugged at my heart, and left me feeling complete. Would definitely read another book by this author!
The author has done her research for this well written novel. Almost losing her life to the man who took her sister and mother's . Niki learns to live the life she was meant to.
At a young age Nicolette Dubois has lived through so much. Since surviving the horrific death of her mother and sister, she feels guilt ridden. Relying on Gods grace gives her the faith and strength to carry-on. A horse trainer now, trying to set her past aside Nicolette starts receiving phone texts from one of the felons from her past. She is stalked again, this time praying someone shows up in time to find her. Her best friend, Blake Matheson, and his K-9 Jax are on the trail, leaving nothing to chance. Nicolette is able to face another dark and horrifying experience, one that also has Blake rethinking his life. I could not turn the pages fast enough unless I was wiping a tear from my face. Anne Perreault’s faith and humor shine through in this story of tragedy, loss, and faith, showing us nothing is impossible with God!
This is definitely a story about finding courage. The characters have a lot happen and they have to figure out how to deal with the changes. This is well written and definitely is hard to put down because of how much is going on. There is mystery, suspense, challenges, faith questioned, and romance. Definitely a must read.
Finding Courage was such a good book! It really took courage for Nicolette to face many of the obstacles that stood in her way! Fortunately she had a good friend, Blake for support! This book made me feel all the emotions. I had to keep reading. I needed to know the ending!
Blake and Nicki have to learn how to navigate a relationship from the beginning. When Nicki is attacked Blake feels like its his fault because failed to keep her safe. This book has can't put it down suspense along with strong family values!
I'll be honest, I thought for a minute that this book was going to be anticlimactic but man was I wrong! This is a wonderful love story about how to be longsuffering and patient in a relationship with someone you love. A beautifully written book that shows how God can truly walk with you through some of the darkest times in your life and just how much animals can be His tools to make Him tangible in your life. The author does a great job (as usual) of putting smatterings of humor throughout to let you know that just because things may be difficult, you can find laughter in the hardest of times. I definitely recommend this book!
This was an interesting book to me because it was part suspense and part drama. Adjusting to life not going your way is hard. The main character had her fill of that.
An excellent story full of faith, love, family, friendship, and gripping suspense. I loved following the budding relationship between Blake and Nicolette. Their struggles and victories were so real! Watching Nikki find her courage was such a stressful, yet touching, journey. Anne, you hit the ball out of the park with this one!
It’s not often that you see really hard issues being tackled in Christian fiction. Generally, growing up reading CF, the ‘hard issues’ consisted of two characters not both believing in God, or someone cheating on their spouse. Sometimes drugs and alcohol get involved, and then tend to become very cliché. Those situations where the blurb on the back hypes the book more than it should have. I didn’t find this to be the case in Finding Courage. Anne Perreault deals with some hot topics in this one, which to be honest, without giving spoilers, I can’t say what they are. But she deals with them in a very honest, realistic way, without ever making the reader feel like they’re being patronized in the interest of selling books. I fell in love with Nikki instantly, and the drama between Tobias Whiskers and Jax is hilarious. It’s a book that will walk you through some heavy times, but lift you up at the same time. All the stars.
This was my first time reading this author and i thoroughly enjoyed this book! I read it in one night as it was so interesting! I hope the author has a sequel to this book as I would love to know "What happens next" in this couples life... The difficulty of coming to terms with what life deals out... Dealing with what it means to surrender your own will to God's will....and discovering that it isn't God punishing you but it's just life...and that God was really right there all along even when things were rough were some nuggets this couple found sorting through their trials and tribulation. I think the discovery that life wasn't over, even though they had faced hard things was a beautiful lesson portrayed in this book! I highly recommend this book!
This is an exceptionally good read! Niki and her father survived a home invasion where her sister and mother were brutally murdered. She meets Blake and they become fast friends. The one man that escaped from the police for the murders kidnaps Nikj! Without giving away the story, suffice it to say...don't miss this thrilling, heart pounding book as above everything, she has to learn to trust God. And maybe find true love.
Finding Courage is an emotional book and very intense in some places. Certainly some parts that could be triggers. I was caught up in the story and couldn’t wait to find out how it ends. And I enjoyed the happy ending as well as the drama, trauma, tears, and courage that led to a happily ever after.
Loved this sweet story...Nicolette was bitter and hurting but Blake’s understanding and patience won her over. It has emotional highs and lows which I love.
I just wanted to say, what a voice! You have a way of pulling the reader straight into the heart of the story, and I really felt the emotional depth of Nicolette’s journey. As a fellow author, I truly admire the strength and tenderness you wove into her character, and the loyalty that shines through Blake and Jax. Your storytelling has a quiet power that lingers even after the last line, and I can tell there’s so much heart behind your words. I think any reader who has known pain or loss will find something healing in this narrative, and authors like you make me want to keep creating.
I'm always excited to connect with other writers who pour their souls into the page like this. Did you enjoy sharing this story with the world? I’d love to hear more about your journey writing it, and if you’re open to it, I’d be happy to share some of my own work with you too. There’s nothing better than building community with people who get it. Looking forward to connecting more!
“C'mere.” He took her hand, spun her around and soon they were two-stepping across the kitchen floor. She was laughing so hard, apologizing every other step as she trod on his toes. Blake didn't seem to care but he let go of her to flip the eggs. “Blake.” Nicolette panted a laugh, and withdrew before he could take her into his arms again. He was a seriously good dancer and she found that not only her feet didn't work, but her knees were turning to pudding. And when his eyes stripped her bare of her defenses, she shuddered. “Nik?”
Anne Perreault never disappoints. Boy, she puts us readers through the gamut of emotions every. single. time. But it is always ALWAYS worth it. Every time I finish one of her books, I feel like I'm a better person for having read it. Seriously. She isn't afraid to have real life problems and their repercussions in her stories. She digs deep. Sometimes things work out the way we think they need to, and sometimes they don't. But Anne always helps us to understand why. Finding Courage is not an easy read. It is INTENSE. But you'll be glad you read it.
Anne Perrault has woven a wonderful story that goes beyond our everyday read or romantic suspense and into the emotions of women's literature. The action is secondary to that, and the reader becomes involved in the characters' fight to overcome the obstacles life throws at us. It is also a better love story because of that depth.
Blake and Nicolette's story is a beautiful picture of determination and unconditional love. Overcoming tragedy, trauma of her kidnapping, and resulting injuries brought both closer, leaning on God for strength and wisdom for going forward together. It's a truly inspirational story.
Not my usual reading genre. I enjoyed this one. Surviving a horrible past is hard enough. Learning to survive and overcome a terrible crime committed against you is unimaginable. Faith in God and some strong family support helps. Finding your soul mate and love is a blessing through God's help. This one is for those whose faith is unwavering and always believe in him.
This book is so special! Blake and Nicolette faced so many challenges and their friendship and their love prevailed. Anne Perreault has truly written a book that I will highly recommend. I will be reading everything of hers I can get my hands on!!!!
