The fear of failure: How to become an action taker, stop worrying, overcome procrastination and perfectionism

Rate this book
How many times have you missed out on something that could have changed your life, all because you were too afraid? Is the fear of failure making you procrastinate? Does your perfectionism stop you from taking action? Then you need to keep on reading...
Everyone experiences failure at some point in their life. In our society, success is celebrated, while failure is considered something that we need to stay away from. But should failure be something we're so embarrassed about, that's making us feel worthless? Knowing how to handle failure makes a massive difference when it comes to our mental health and our capability to get back on our feet ... As an entrepreneur, author, and human being, I'm no stranger to failure; I don't think there's anyone who hasn't experienced it in one way or another, which is why I felt inspired to write this book. I have wasted many years and so many opportunities because I wasn't feeling ready or good enough. Constant worry and self-doubt in my abilities made me feel imprisoned, hopeless, and miserable. I was trapped in awful imaginary scenarios. Fear held me back more than any other obstacle. I understand how it feels when the voice inside your head always looks for a way to hold you back. But now it's time you start nurturing a new one that reminds you that you're good enough and that encourages you to push through when all seems to fall apart. Between the pages of this book, you will
● Where your fear of failure originates from and how to overcome it ● Stories about some of the most successful people in the world and how they handled their failures ● How to fight off perfectionism and become an action taker ● How to stop self-sabotaging and conquer your procrastination tendencies ● Why you shouldn't rely on motivation to get things done and what you can do instead ● Practical ways to fight off your inner worry and the critical inner voice ● How to desensitize yourself from the pain of rejection ● How to manage stress, gain inner peace, and become a happier version of yourself
And much more... Even if you dealt with worry, self-doubt, and paralyzing fear since you've known yourself, the information from this book is simple, practical, and here to help you get unstuck. Don't wait for someone else to change your life. Overcome your fear of failure, procrastination, and perfectionism today!

Started this months ago and thought I’d finish it as I was 42% of the way through. Not a bad book. Very insightful.

Gosh this book is so good. It’s truly helped my decision paralysis. I’ve been taking what I’ve been reading and practicing it at work. I’ve just started my new job and being proactive and making decisions in this role facing crazy deadline was exactly what i needed. If it wasn’t for this book, I would’ve been more stressed than I should’ve. The self awareness and coping mechanisms this book teaches are truly practical. Once again I am feeling more fulfillment out of life after every self help book i read. I can’t wait for the next one

Not completely bad. But just a compilation of cliche.

Great book and well written

The cover was enough to get me to read the book, and I enjoyed and appreciated her speaking from the heart.

That stated, the book wasn't just but excellent. If you wonder why you procrastinate or why fear holds you back, this book could help. There are several additional stuff that Hale teaches us, such as why people start strong on a new activity, like working out, but lose motivation. It's worth reading, even to validate what you may already know. You might learn something along the way about yourself!

Inspiring!

I really enjoyed this book. I found the suggestions to conquer fear very practical. I feel I will definitely use the things I learned here on a daily basis. In fact, I already have. I was inspired and encouraged. I highly recommend. I often find myself paralyzed by low self-confidence and perfectionism. This book has given me a new perspective on how to handle these emotions, therefore, setting myself free. Thank You for writing this book.

Cliff note version

The lack of footnotes made it had too read. Nice summary or cliff note version but needs some real meat or techniques.
It was free, part of my prime membership, so I don't feel taken. Keep up the work, and remember a book does allow do-overs!
Got the book a second time to get the reference list which was extensive but unfortunately not included with footnotes.

A good short read. I personally find it helpful and applicable to me. As I’d always been a “perfectionist”, I sometimes tend to fear to fail and with that, I fail to try something new. This book reveals several good pointers that push you to be disciplined so you can pursue towards your goals. Definitely motivate me to start working towards some goals of mine that I would love to achieve by end of this year. No more procrastination! Just do it! 💪🏻

Very well written and true to conventional and sage wisdom

I enjoyed Wilda’s writing style. She gave me a big sister encouragement vibe that I appreciated. I also liked the way she worded the research findings she referenced. They were a helpful and refreshing perspective on what it costs to live a full life but also why it’s worth it. Thank you and I look forward to more books in the future.

Very inspiring read!

Very well written and very inspiring. Reading this book opened my eyes on how much I could relate. My fear of failure has prevented me from seeing my full potential. I will definitely be re-reading this book again. I can’t wait to see what Wilda Hale will be writing again in the near future. One of my new favorite authors.

Good ideas, so-so delivery

I've come across the ideas here before, and while they're shared decently, I still feel like something is missing. Admittedly, it might be that the ebook formatting was glaring at me throughout. But if you are seeking some means to cope with fears, Ms Hale has some worthwhile offerings here.

This was a quick read. I read for about 15 minutes each night for 5 days. A lot of good information but a lot I already knew about. I wish the author had made it more personal and shared her own stories rather than use hypothetical situations. Still I know a lot of people in my life that would benefit tremendously from this book.

First time giving a 1 star rating. This book is build of simple platitudes, written for the reading level of an 11 year old in a patronizing way. Only good thing about it is the references to what great thinkers and do-ers have to say, although some of the quotes speak against each other and feel like namedropping.

Some decent actionable pieces of wisdom but felt like nothing really groundbreaking. Good to think about though going into navigating job searches and interviews — current phase of life I’m in! Nothing that will change the way I think forever though.

I wasn't even halfway through this book and recommended it to a few people. Personally, I think everyone can get at least one thing they can use in every day life out of it. It is an easy ready and you can start implementing habits from the start. I know I will be reading it again.

Good Read

Definitely worth reading. Lots of good nuggets, lots of insights. Not a book you should read in one sitting, pace yourself, take notes and you'll get the most out if it...

Great read

I read this book because of my perfection paralysis which i have allowed to lead me into a life of procrastination. Wilda really put together some fantastic strategies with words of advice and coaching. This is one I will keep and read over and over again.

Could have been a much shorter article

While a lot of the information was really helpful it felt like there was a lot of repetition for the sake of reaching a word count. Would have loved it to be more concise.

While I'm glad I read the book, I did find it simplistic in places. There were enough kernels of goodness for it be worth it.

The author gave good advice and tips overall, but much of it wasn’t different from what I have heard before.
