As a rape survivor this book needs to come with a warning for other survivors. & Just because BDSM is mentioned in the book doesn't mean that's what is actually taking place. I was disappointed, the book sounded like it would be good & it was anything but. h is supposed to be strong independent yet all it takes is him purring or growling & she's "dripping wet", "gushing". She's a sex slave/broodmare basically cause even when she clearly says no he just rapes her & she loves it all because he growled at her, when she cried after the "sex"(actually rape) he would purr & shes like yup I'm cool with it now. I don't think the author knows what BDSM is, it's all about consent. She can't have emotions, can't talk cause he'll just purr at her which is basically like a sedative (now we're drugging people?) Says she doesn't want kids..purr. want to go home?...purr. No sex?...growl/purr. Oh & there's nothing to this book but sex scenes. If you took out all the sex scenes this book would be maybe 50 pages. No build up, no storyline, nothing. How it has almost 5 stars is beyond me.

A great blend of alien and Omegaverse that surprisingly works! The story is pretty typical of alien romances: girl wakes up and finds she’s been abducted by aliens, her alien mate rescues her, she longs for home but eventually realizes she loves her mate more than she misses Earth, they live HEA.

Despite the fact that the story is not super original, I still enjoyed it! It’s a quick, smutty read with an ok plot. If you’re in the mood for alien/Omegaverse smut, I would recommend this.

So this one is different..

It was weird. Scary, sexy, sweet, and weird. It also kept me angry and shocked one minute, only to melt into a pile a goo the next.

Kahn.. in a word, is Bent. But in the best and most infuriating ways possible..

This was a great first installment to this series.

It has a decent amount of history/world building, but not enough to make your eyes gloss over, in hopes that the story would just move along already. So I loved that. I love that many things regarding this world and the Kings who rule in their perspective corners, will be revealed as the series progresses.

The flow to this one was at the right pace. Kept me intrigued and glued to my Kindle. I read this one in just under 19 hours😁

I love the way the major conflict was handled with our MCs. I was VERY worried that this would take a turn that I just didn't like, nor could accept where Kahn was concerned. But he surprised me😍

I would definitely recommend this first book. Still on the fence about the series though.
I'm currently reading book 2 now.

I believe all books out in this series are currently on KU, but don't hold me to that. Books 1 and 2 definitely are on KU though.

I really liked this one. Though it took a hot minute for Khan to see Emma's wants and dreams, plus all that she's lost; and for Emma to see what's really important....and it's not a caramel lattes.

I'm looking forward to seeing the different Kings and how their Omegas take to them in the coming series.

Quick read that had a good storyline and 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Emma is bit naive and a smidge annoying but the chemistry between her and Khan makes up for it. For a short read it is put together quite well.

How read!

Happy reading,

This book is the equivalent of a caveman grunt. I'll forewarn y'all now, this is the type of review that will either steer you away or have you running to 1-click. As I've been there and done that, there's no judgment. #noshameinthisgame

I didn't know what I was getting into when I read this - I picked it up as a freebie and let me tell you, the shock was real. I don't have alot of experience with Omegaverse, but um

description

Legit, I didn't know when I was supposed to start reading the romance because it is just lots of dripping, gushing, pulsing, squirting, spurting. Which, hey if that's your jam and jelly

description

This is ALOT, and I mean, ALOT of non-con/dubcon sex and up until the very end, I was with the heroine's desire to GTFO. The story starts with her being drugged and auctioned off, and then the MMC taking her and banging her like a screen door. Constantly. NO conversations, mostly grunts and her confusion as to why this gigantic alien is saying she's an Omega and made to breed his army of biggins. When she had very specific desire to never have kids in the first place.

description

Throughout the book, the MMC states quite clearly that he doesn't care, he disregards her emotions and her body but it's ok because she seems to like it because of all the orgasms.

description

Only at the very, very end is there a moment where suddenly, they both realize they love each other and it's all HEA. The End.

On the serious side though, I completely understand that this is a trope that does work for alot of people and had there been any attempt to build a relationship, maybe it could have worked for me? Ok, that's a big maybe and more of a probably not, but I digress. This isn't for me. Onto the next.

The couple: Khan and Emma

Romance genre: omegaverse
Series: Planet of Kings
Length: 146 pages

Plot: Emma is outside of a bdsm club, looking for some fun when she is turned away. As she's walking home, she's sucked into some sort of portal and she wakes up with a bunch of aliens headed to an auction slave. Turns out she's an omega now and very valuable because of her ability to bond and breed. She's bought by Khan, who belongs to a species nicknamed the "Brutal Ones." He is very excited to have an omega of his own, but there's definitely a learning curve. And when they get to his home planet, things are not smooth sailing at all.

Character development: There was some lack of world-building (which, honestly, I don't need LOTR-style world-building, but it does help me visualize the characters, their surroundings, and their actions better if I understand the world they're in. In this case, it was really the social structure I was missing. We didn't get much more beyond the names and numbers of the kings.).
Emma was as expected - she's betrayed by her new physiology, but ultimately she wants to go back home and she does not, under any circumstances, want to have children. Unfortunately, that's her one role here on this planet. The change of heart at the end feels abrupt and arbitrary.

Next book in the series: Brutal Claim

This is the first book in the Planet of Kings series and features Emma and Khan. This is an Omegaverse story and as such relies heavily on the Alpha/Omega, dominant/submissive relationship. I wouldn't classify it as a dark Omegaverse but there is definitely elements of consensual non-consent and power exchange.

Emma goes to a BDSM club looking to get out of her head for a little while but finds that she isn't on the list to get in and ends up leaving. As she is walking home, she gets sucked into a portal and spit out on another planet/world. Just her luck, Emma wakes surrounded by aliens and thrust into a slave auction. Emma is an Omega and holds more value than she understands and is quickly bought by Khan who is of a species called the Brutal Ones.

When Khan sees Emma at the auction he immediately recognizes her as his and goes to claim her and take her to his kingdom to be his mate and bear his heirs. Khan has been looking for a mate for a long time. In Khan's world, being an Omega and bearing children is an honor but in Emma's world that is just not the case. The two of them go head-to-head and slowly have to learn about each other. The cultural differences are vast but can Khan and Emma make compromises and learn what they need from each other? Can there be a happily ever after for them?

I really enjoyed this. This was HEAVY on the steam but I'm not complaining. Whew. I could have used a little more world building (we only get glimpses of the other Kings in this world who I hope will all get stories) but I also liked that there was such a strong development of Khan and Emma's relationship. I wish Emma had been a little more stubborn and made Khan work a little harder but I also know that the Alpha/Omega dynamic has a particular design. Both Emma and Khan were good characters and I liked their banter. Overall, if you like steamy Omegaverse stories then definitely give this one a try.

A really enjoyable alpha/omega storyline. Well written, Khan and Emma must overcome the difficulties they both face trying to understand the differences of their respective cultures. What would you give up in the name of love?

Both Lee Savino and Tabitha Black are, in my opinion, extremely talented authors. So when I saw they had combined their efforts to start the "Planet of the Kings" series, I was excited to read the first book, 'Brutal Mate'. It starts off with Emma trying to get into a highly-prized BDSM club that doesn't have her name on the admit list. Being forced to accept the fact she won't be admitted, Emma walks home only to find she somehow winds up in a cage with creatures discussing her being in an auction. This is a pretty frequently used scenario in alien books. What did grab my attention in this is their character, Khan. He's referred to as a 'Brutal One'. He is one of nine Kings on the planet Ulfaria. Carved into kingdoms, each king rules there unopposed and is named for either his attributes or those of his kingdom. Khan is known as the Wanderer King. Khan is known as a Brutal One is proven fairly early in the story while at the auction. Not only is he an Alien Alpha, known as a Brutal One, a warrior, a king, and then his personality comes to life. He has a caring heart, his Omega is cherished, family is all-important to him, and when he is ready to make one of the biggest, surprising sacrifices I've read, my eyes welled up. I'm hoping we get the stories of the other kings because even just reading Emma's reaction to them, I'm intrigued by how this will work out.

Emma finds herself abducted by aliens and put up for auction after being chemically induced to be an Omega. Khan enters the auction scents his mate and takes her. Khan's planet is in need of Omegas, they only have betas that cannot produce alpha offspring. Khan finds Emma and learns that she was given a serum to make her an Omega, so his new goal, after impregnating his, then on to help the other Kings of his planet get their Omegas. Emma isn't happy to find herself objectified as a broodmare and tries to fight that part of her abduction and place in Khan's world. I wasn't happy with Emma's attitude towards Khan, this wasn't his fault, he just took advantage of her as an Omega and tried his best to make her happy with everything he had available to him. Honestly the rut and heat keeps Emma happy when it's happening, but if she's not having hot sex, she's miserable. I was very happy when Emma learns what's really important in the end and Khan gets his heart's desire.
Looking forward to King Aurus and Kim's story, Brutal Claim expected in October!

Meh. I didn’t find the h’s 180 about having children to be realistic. I didn’t find the love between the MC’s to be very convincing. All they had was sex. They didn’t have much in common at all. We never learned much about the setting or the characters’ backgrounds. It was just okay. I doubt I will continue the series.

I'm so aggravated, I forgot to add the CWs.

In brief, and most definitely incomplete:
- fatphobia
- disordered eating
- weight loss
- non-/dubcon
- coercion

We start off on page 6 with some fatphobia, so let's not kid ourselves this is going to be a kind review. There's no reason at all for this bullshit, either. She just starts claiming that the bright side of her recent break-up is that she's lost weight from not being able to eat, ~20 pounds that were from "years of being on the pill." That is NOT HEALTHY, and depicting that kind of weight loss as positive & directly related to a character's desirability is gross and harmful. It has zero bearing on the plot; the break-up is never mentioned again, and we never even learn her ex's name. So why was this such a necessary thing to talk about?

Emma's childfree. Or she was, until she got mated and fell in love and oh, now suddenly she wants babies after railing MULTIPLE TIMES about how her family treated cis women like broodmares.

She has moments - MOMENTS - of having a spine and expressing what she wants, but none of it matters because she's an Omega and her entire purpose is to pop out babies for an Alpha.

Right, this series is Omegaverse. Which is fine, if that's what you want. And I'm usually a fan.

Typical Omegaverse tropes:
- size queen
- knotting
- growling
- purring
- copious amounts of bodily fluids
- rut/estrous
- breeding kink
- mating bites
- non-/dubcon

Aaaaaand here's where I'm going to pause for a minute. Because I don't have a problem with CNC or non-/dubcon. (Written by adults, about adults, for adults, with full knowledge that it's fiction and not real life.) What I do have a problem with is when it's done poorly, when our leading lady decides to voice her entirely valid concerns and her leading man... Ignores it. This isn't billed as dark erotica/romance. Emma gets angry, she tries on more than one occasion to tell Khan WTF is wrong and instead of actually having a meaningful dialogue, it gets bulldozed and ignored.

Especially the part when she tries to protest the kidnapping of cis women from Earth to be injected with a serum that turns them into Omegas for the Alphas of the planet she finds herself on.

At one point she flat-out says that it's one thing to be in a BDSM relationship and hand over control to your Dom, but her A/O relationship with Khan is totally different because she has no choice. There's coercion all over the place, and she goes from having a problem with it to being borderline depressed to just... swanning along, baby at her breast. Excuse me? That's some lazy fucking storytelling, and shitty characterisation to boot.

And finally, the sex was boring. You had the perfect opportunity to have some seriously hot scenes, given that Emma's a masochistic submissive with a degradation kink and into orgams control. One scene had some pretty good edging. Everything else was just "he's so big it hurts" constant orgasms and brief mentions of mostly off-screen spanking.

I'm going to give the second book in this series a go to see if it gets better, but my hopes are not high.

This is the romance between Emma and Khan. Emma is a human from Earth who accidentally fell through an alien portal. Some aliens found her and put her up for a slave auction. The hero, Khan, is an Alpha alien king who has been searching for an Omega mate for years. Once he smells Emma he knows he has finally found that Omega and he plans to steal her.

I love alien romances, but there was not much about this book that I enjoyed. I think I might have come to realize that Omegaverse books just aren't for me. I don't like the fact that most of the time the heroine does not want to be with the hero, but her body forces her to be. It makes me think that this relationship is just sexual assault the whole time, which just turns my stomach sour. Another main gripe I had with this book was the heroine's opinion about not wanting to have children. Yall can guess what happens at the end of this book, but I hate when authors change characters' minds like that. I get that people change their minds, but it was a complete 180 from what she previously thought. There was no growth to that thought. It's like a switch was quickly flipped. That is just not enough development for me. The same goes for the romance between these two characters. I did not feel it at all. They were just banging and then claiming that they loved one another. Where was the progression??

Brutal, yet beautiful.

Emma and Khan's brutal journey together has left me spellbound.

The fact that we start with Emma on her way to a BDSM club definitely sets the tone of the rest of this excellent alien abduction romance.

Khan is a hot alien warrior. He's dominant, rough, and his knotting skills leave Emma shaking and quivering.

Emma wants to return to Earth, but she becomes addicted to Khan's legendary mating abilities, and who can blame her.

I loved the steamy scenes which included spanking, squirting and plenty of pleasure.

A perfectly humouros read if you want to experience what it would be like to be claimed by a brutal Warrior who has found his Omega.

5 stars. Can't wait to get reading both Levi and Tabitha's backlists.

Brutal Mate is book 1 in the Planet of Kings series and a really enjoyable read for me. It was pure smut which was exactly what I was in the mood for. I love Omegaverse and everything that comes with it. Emma is coming home from a club when she falls through some kind of hole and the next thing she knows she's being prepared for an auction which included being given a serum to change her into an Omega. I liked Emma but she was definitely a bit annoying. Khan is a King known as a Brutal One who has been searching for an Omega. Once he smells Emma, it throws him into a rut which I loved. I'm currently on book 3 and I'm loving that there are no more Omegas in the Kingdom where the Brutal Ones who are Kings live and how regular woman are being turned into Omegas.

Brutal Mate is one hot ride. Emma is not only kidnapped by aliens and put up for auction, she’s also injected with a serum that transforms her into an omega. So you’ve got the classic alien abduction/auction trope in romance combined with the newer trope of omegaverse. And what a sexy, intense combination this is! Savino is a wonder at fantasy romance, while Black has written some of my favorite omegaverse reads. They combine their expertise in this new Planet of Kings series.

I loved learning about Khan, a king on his planet who has been searching for omegas for years. I loved how Emma is terrified by what’s been done to her as well as overwhelmed by it. These two have a huge cultural gap to overcome, which is challenged by the fact that they’re intensely drawn to one another due to the alpha/omega mating rut. Because of this, they simply keep not learning about one another’s needs outside of the bedroom.

There’s a lot of focus on the sensual scenes in this book, and I wanted things to move a bit more towards the character’s full relationship more rapidly than it did. Brutal Mate is a fiery hot read, but I really enjoyed the latter third of the book, when the conflict between Emma wanting to return to Earth and Khan’s desperation for a life partner came clearly into focus.

There’s a fair amount of exposition in Brutal Mate; Savino and Black are setting up their world here and getting Emma to it, and that’s part of the reason why it took time for the central conflict between Khan and Emma to evolve. I’m hopeful that future books will move more immediately into the tension between characters since so much was established in this book. And I’m excited for the rest of this series! This world with nine alpha kings offers fascinating possibilities for future books.

If you love omegaverse and you love SFF romance, give Brutal Mate a try. It might be just what you’re looking for!

Wow. Just WOW.
Dual POVs.
Neither are virgins.
Omegaverse
Dubious consent. (Having no choice is her only choice)
A lot of Steamy smex scenes 🌶🌶🌶💯 spanking, oral, lots of slick, multiple orgasms, mild BDSM, knotting, rough sex, fingering, squirting 😘
Fated mates trope; Insta-attraction/love. ❤️
No cheating. No other woman/man.
Happy ending!
Mild Angst! (Especially towards 4/5 in)
Epilogue: Life after her first child

Dubious consent is my guilty pleasure, but only when we (the readers) know that the man loves the lady more than breathing! And in this case, that’s what’s up. 💯👍🏻

🚨spoiler alert🚨

Having longed for something so much in your life and finally finding it, especially that “something” is a fated mate who completes you and fills the void in you. Our hero(Khan), the Wanderer King, finally found his omega after transversing the galaxies.

Emma, an independent hard working human woman who turned omega through alien science. She’s a sexual submissive and turns the girl on more than being manhandled by her sexy Alpha alien ❤️

Overwhelmed and don’t want to end up like her mother/sisters/women of her family (barefoot and pregnant with the dads walking out on the ladies), their relationship hits a few bumps. She dislikes the feeling of having no choice is her only choice and the feeling of being just a “pair of ovaries.”

This made her oblivious to the deep feeling that transverse from their mate bond but she does realize her love for Khan and his love for her at the end. Khan shows her that he would die for her if that’s the last thing he does. And that he wouldn’t mind going to Earth with her since almost throughout the whole book that’s what she wanted. ❤️

Would I re-read this on my free time? fuck yes! I love Omegaverse, and I love an alpha like Khan! ❤️

Also, same cover dude as the Hoard King series? DOUBLE YES!

Cant wait for the next book!

I really enjoyed this story. One of the things I liked the best was that instead of the typical "my body betrayed me", props to the writer for the h enjoying intimacy with the H but still feeling despondent or withdrawn during and after sex. She also stayed true to her character's nature of not wanting to have kids, talking about birth control, a career and being an individual. They change and grow but it's not without sacrifice which makes a story more engaging.

This was a gift from the authors after attending a book signing and I just adore the colors on the cover.

So thank you for the free book☺️

The book was nice. Very basic, yet I did find the world building quite nice.

Characters wise I was not impressed, but I still enjoyed it.
Will be tempted for the next book.

There were a few times I just wanted to stop but kept going since the rating on this book is almost 4,

But nooo it’s just not my cup of tea allot of books with the same story line and are much better.

Almost 90% of the book the h did not say anything cause if she is not having sex then she is sleeping or being told to be quiet. Ugh just a boring book

I loved this story. I wasn’t sure what to think of it when I read the title - Brutal Mate didn’t really seem to leave anywhere to go.

Not to give anything away, but as mates go, Khan isn’t brutal to Emma. He’s not even really into BDSM (although he doesn’t know what that is), and Emma’s a masochist. He’s just a giant compared to her. That and they have that alien versus human thing to figure out. There’s no non-con here.

As heroine’s go, Emma’s was trying to get into a new BDSM club and was turned away. Totally ticked off, she decides to walk home, takes a short cut, gets her feet stuck in some mud, and wakes up in some in a cage on another plant. While I caught when she was injected with the translation device, I missed the omega injection. It’s possible the serum and the translator was in the same injection. It’s also possible I just missed the passage where the omega injection occurred. Since all of this happens in the first chapter or so of the book, I don’t feel too badly about giving away spoilers. It’s the main story that comes after that matters. Khan and Emma have not met at this point.

They meet because Khan has been searching the galaxy for an Omega. As in many of the books, the omegas have either died out completely on his planet. He’s desperate to find his omega and when he hears of an Omega, he doesn’t know anyth8ng about her, but he’s determined to obtain her for himself. This being the type of world it is, it’s a man’s world, and she’s in a cage to be auctioned off.

One of the things I do hate is when the translators are able to translate every other single world they say but seem to get stuck on one word that is then said over and over again. In this book it’s the word “human”. It’s spelled “hoo-man” throughout the entire book every time an alien thinks or says it. Just drives me nuts. You’d think the translators would adapt. It kept making me think of cows mooing it. Talk about throw a person out of a scene. If it was supposed to make me think they were aliens, I guess it did…cow shaped ones….😊

I can’t wait for the next story in this series (I do hope they make it through all the kings). I am excited to see mister high and mighty Aurus get his comeuppance. Khan’s Emma was a nice artist who fit perfectly into his world as his queen. Some how, I think the gold king, who has somehow managed to appoint himself the king of kings, is going to get a honky tonk, good old girl who gives as good as she gets and puts him in his place while doing it. He’ll be learning what Khan did…human women, Omega or not, are nothing to be messed with. They have claws, even if they’re tiny and the claws are figurative.

This was a very good read and I really enjoyed it. This book kicks-off an intriguing new omegaverse series that I think offers a lot of potential. I thought the book was well written and in my opinion, it reads fast and smoothly. I liked Khan a lot. He is certainly intense, hot and totally alpha, but I also thought there was a true underlying sweetness to him that really appealed to me and it melted my heart. I could easily feel for him. Emma on the other hand, I struggled with. There were many reasons to sympathize with her and I did. I could even understand with most of her feelings. However, I'd be lying if I didn't admit that she frustrated and annoyed me. I blame my practical side but, whether she wanted to admit it it or not she was so incredibly lucky because the situation she was in could have been a billion times worse. Her fierce insistence to be unhappy and avid determination to be blind to things that were so incredibly obvious just grated on my nerves. Ultimately, I did not care for her. You can expect lots of steam mixed with emotion, drama, action and a bit of kink as you read this book. Of my own accord I am posting a objective review.

Not too bad of a read.
Typical human female abducted from earth, put up for auction and then becomes a mate to a king.

Couple of issues with the story - she’s changed into an omega without her consent which is never addressed, and therefore everything that happens to her because she’s an omega is never fully addressed. She states that she doesn’t want kids and never did. But after a quick five minutes at the end is excited and overjoyed at being pregnant, just to much of a change of heart to be believable and new flash it’s ok to not want children and to stick that, just as it is to change your mind.

On another note he does ultimately give her a choice to stay or go so he wins some points for that.

I love lee savino books, but what i DON'T like are heroines dedicated to their own misery. Literally 27% of the way in,the heroine FINALLY acknowledges she is not in kansas anymore. And honestly, that is too long for me to wait for a heroine to get a clue. She was annoying as h e l l. I am interested in the other kings and their journeys, but the "stubborn, independant" woman thing is overblown and irritating. A practical heroine with some common sense and a sunny outlook is my preference.

Don't let the title fool you. The male alpha was not brutal, nor was there much in the ways of BDSM. Khan is actually kind of sweet for a "brutal" alien. He is also pretty human-like, so no worries about weird genitalia or anything like that. The plot was very standard, and I almost gave it 3 stars until the end. These kind of books usually don't make me cry, and ummm...this one didn't either. At all. I'm not crying...YOU'RE crying!
