There’s a fine line between love and hate, so fine that you don’t know you’ve lost balance until it’s too late.
I’m not sure exactly when I lost my balance, all I know is that he was to blame.
Dane Winters.
The boy who’d spent most of his life hating me for reasons I never understood.

It was no secret that I hated her, but only I knew why.
She was off-limits.
And then our separate worlds collided with one tragedy.
It wasn’t her fault, I knew that, but I wanted her to hurt the way I did, and I needed someone to blame. She was an easy target.
Kennedy Monroe.
The girl I’d picked on all our lives.
And the woman I barely tolerated.
Until the line between love and hate was no longer visible…

DNF at 91%

I know what you’re thinking: 1) why am I rating a DNF but more importantly, 2) why did I not finish the book when I only have 9% left. Just hear me out okay?

I have finally reached my limits with this book. Judging from the high ratings from most readers though, I’m in the minority who feels this way, so before I even say anything else, please don’t let my upcoming negative thoughts about this book discourage you from reading it if you were interested before. Or better yet, if you’re one who believes in the ‘if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all’ thing, don’t read the rest of my review. Just dive right into the book.

With that being said, this book didn’t work for me. Actually, that is really putting it mildly. I had so many problems with the characters, with the storyline, with the romance, with everything I don’t even know where to begin.

Going into this book, I was pretty sure it’d be a winner for several reasons: I’ve read and enjoyed a book from this author in the past so I shouldn’t have difficulties with her writing style, the love/hate dynamic is something I was in the mood for and I was ready for the angst to hit me hard, and I was really in the mood for a NA read. But from the very beginning, I started to struggle with the story. I’ll just walk you through my thought process all the way up to the 91% mark where I just could NOT go on.

My first issue was that this book is way too similar to Bully by Penelope Douglas. Having re-read Bully about 2 months ago, there were similarities that stood out so vividly I actually went back to Bully to re-read some parts to compare and the essence of some scenes were virtually identical. I’m not insinuating anything here though. Every book with a similar premise is going to have some overlap – it just can’t be helped. However, the following parallels I couldn’t get over and when I read them, I was instantly reminded of Bully and that just cut a lot of my connection to this particular book.

1. Dane has a best friend named Reid who’s a Madoc 2.0. They both have lighter personalities and are a source of comic relief in tense situations.

2. Kennedy leaves town only to return as a tough as nails girl. Tate leaves her town only to return as a tough as nails girl. Kennedy meets her bully Dane again at a party. Tate meets her bully Jared again at a party.

There were other little things like how in both books, the heroine stomped over to the hero’s party because the music was too loud etc…Once again, it may just be me being too picky but because Bully’s story is fresh in my mind, I really did feel like I was reading another version of it, at least in the beginning.

By then, another issue came up – forget the jerk hero, I didn’t even like the heroine. In the beginning, I truly sympathized for her because of the hero’s cruel antics that tortured her, but when the story is fast-forwarded to present day and she supposedly has grown a backbone, I was less than impressed with her character. It seemed like on every other page, she either giggled, stammered, or cried. Not to mention she was extremely clumsy and fell twice, both times effectively grabbing the hero’s attention that way. I mean…couldn’t there be something different? And then there was one scene (the one with the flowers) where she was going to get payback on the hero and it was so.very.dramatic. Like over the top dramatic and my eyes couldn’t stop rolling. It’s safe to say I wasn’t head over heels for this heroine.

By this time, the hero and heroine are already sleeping with each other, leaving me to wonder what the heck happened to the love/hate dynamic. You know, the kind that's ‘I–hate-you-but-I-can’t-keep-my-hands-off-of-you-either’ type of relationship. There was no build up: it went from rude remarks to instant banging. Dane got jealous from the very beginning and Kennedy couldn’t stop thinking about how hot Dane was from the start either. Thus, the whole enemies to lovers premise wasn’t really strong and the lack of buildup was disappointing.

Another thing that bothered me was the focus on all the side character drama!!! It’s great to have a strong side character cast and in this book that was the case, but there was too much focus on Dane’s best friend, Kennedy’s two best friends, guys on the football team, both of their siblings, etc…and not enough focus on Dane and Kennedy.

And then, there was a little issue I had with the timeline of the story. First, it was very choppy. I go from the beginning (3 years into the past), then the present, and then from there, every other chapter seemed to do a small time jump ranging from a few weeks to months. For example, the first time Kennedy and her best friend meet their new roommate before college starts, right after that chapter it’s already a month later and fast forward to when all three become best friends already and go out to celebrate Kennedy’s birthday. I want the details too – what happened in that time lapse? What happened in the other time lapses?

And here we are, at the dreaded 91% mark. I honestly don’t know what else to say about this scene other than it seriously pissed me off, it made me throw my iPad at the wall, and it made me feel stabby for hours. But most importantly, it made me believe that there was NOTHING redeeming about the hero. At this far in the book, the hero and heroine aren’t even together. What does that even say about the romance and their relationship? Their messes are far from sorted out and then they get into this fight where the hero says:

Seriously. WTF!

For him to say this it would take a lot – A LOT – of groveling and such to make it up to the heroine (and me, the reader!!!) but if you noticed, this is at the 91% mark. I don’t even need to read the last 9% of the book to know that it’ll be rushed to tie up all the loose ends and give these characters a happy ending, especially since they weren’t even a couple at this point. So I thought to myself – why bother continuing? It’s obvious that the last 9% isn’t going to change my opinion for the rest of the book. My reading time is already limited and I can’t afford to waste any more. One thing this book did accomplish was make me so angry I can’t even think about reading another book, at least for a few hours or so. As I will never discourage anyone from reading a book, I’m going to end with read at your own risk.

Unfortunately, this wasn't really the book for me. My main issue was understanding Dane's motivations for keeping the 'feud' going. In the end, it just didn't work for me. The back and forth was exhausting, and the ending felt rushed. That added to the fact that this story was similar to another well known 'bully' book, just didn't sit well with me.

Overall, it was a fairly quick read, the writing was descent and I finished it. Other readers have rated it highly, so it may just be me, but I just didn't really enjoy it. :/

"Love is complicated. But worth fighting for.”

I struggled with how to rate this one, mainly because there were moments I really enjoyed this book. As I was gathering my thoughts on this one I choose how I felt most of the book. In the beginning I was really enjoying things.

We first meet Kennedy when she is in fifteen, in high school and is being humiliated by her boyfriend due to another guys, Dane, actions. It immediately made me think of another book and was trying to figure out why this guy hated her so much. We quickly learn that Dane’s family has been feuding with Kennedy’s family for multiple generations.

While Dane has decided to continue on with this tradition of feuding, the other kids in this generation have moved on. Kennedy and her brother Charlie are friends with Dane’s twin sister Jewell, but for some reason Dane refuses to move on.

The story picks up years later when Dane and Kennedy are going to be attending the same college. Dane will be rooming with his best friend Reid and Kennedy will be living with her best friend Jade. Again this feud is even more troublesome since everyone is friends with the exception of Dane and Kennedy.

A lot has changed and both have become more damaged and jaded based on the past few years. I enjoyed seeing these two navigate their attraction and find away to be around each other without being friends. Mainly because not matter what they can’t fight their attraction.

I was really enjoying the story up until we got closer to the end. I got very frustrated as time went on and didn’t understand some choices the couple made. I definitely didn’t get why Kennedy didn’t confide in her best friend, in my opinion it didn’t allow the characters to full develop. I felt like I could have enjoyed it so much more.

First, I love jerks in books, especially dirty talkers - which is exactly what we get with Dane. Not to mention Dane was damaged and I love damaged guys, but to me there was just this huge disconnect where I never full understood his mindset. Lastly, the ending felt rushed to me. Towards the very end Dane really disappointed me, and I don’t think the pain and damage he caused was really full expanded on in a way that allowed me to forgive him.

I am not sure if this books is for everyone, but if there was another book for Reid and Jade I would definitely read it. I do think if just a few things were different I could have really enjoyed it a lot more.

DNF at 33%

There are too many similarities with Penelope Douglas' Bully for me to enjoy this. The differences in characterization, plot and dialogue isn't enough to keep me interested.

I couldn't connect with the writing and the characters. The transition from one scene to another were awkward. One moment I was reading about them being in high school having a party and then the next page, they're already in college. And some plot devices were too convenient. Dane's parents were always away on some trip so of course he could hosts all those parties. Not only that, his parents bought another house so now he's using the old house just for his parties. It was too convenient.

I'd rather cut my losses than suffer through a story that I know I would never enjoy.

3.25 stars. I cheated and read a review that compared this book to Bully, which was okay. This book, in my opinion, was a lot better. Their reason for "hating" each other was a very valid one. Fun, guilty pleasure type book.

I fell in love with this book, so effortlessly, so utterly and irrevocably.. I read it in one sitting and cried so many times that now it belongs with my favorites.

The Line Between is an inspired, beautiful book, that entertains the line between hate and love.. Dane and Kennedy, share a story so emotionally problematic, due to their past and the pain that resides there.

Dane's feelings towards Kennedy are all over the place. But that's not anything new. The feud between their families is too old to remember how it started but he is still expected to hate the Monroe family. Even if he doesn't. Even if his twin sister is best friend with the enemy, even when something changes both their lives forever.

Kennedy lost the only person that was important to her, her only family, her brother Charlie, and now more than a year later she has to look almost everyday at the person who was her tormentor her whole life. She hates him, he hates her.. Such a relationship is bound to become dirty.

After so many years of repressed hidden need and want, the two of them will end up in a relationship noone ever thought possible.
Their chemistry is off the charts but it has to be a secret even if they are so good together. Will they give it a fair chance?

All in all i loved this book so much. Even if somethings are a little askew -i believe that was the case because my copy was an ARC- the writing was very good and the story spoke straight to my heart!

THOUGHTS ABOUT THE BOOK

- An emotional read but not overly dramatic.
- The sex is soooo hot!!!
- I love Jade.. She is awesome..
- I can't wait for Reid's story.. I'm sure there will be one..
- Their siblings, ohh such a tragic story..
- The kiss in the nightclub.. Wow!
- Dual POV.
- Grady was great. Every girl should have a friend like him.. He made everything light with his humor..
- I wish really bad things to her stepmother and father.
- Charlie was a great brother.
- Their first time together! HOT ALERT!!
- The cliché, awww!
- Dane is pierced! Woohoo!
- I 'm not particularly fond of Ashley.

Dane Winters.
The boy I’d spent almost all of my life hating.
And now? I find myself on the other side of that very fine line…"

Ughhh!!! What can i say for this book???
I L.O.V.E.D. it!!!!

Every single fuckin' moment...
I felt fiercely in love with the plot and the characters...
It kept me on the edge all the time...

It filled my heart with so many emotions...
Love, hate, lust, jealousy, anger, sorrow, sweetness, hotness, intensity, fury...

Everything floated inside of me and make me wanna cry and laugh and to break anything near to me...

You probably wonder how that's happened when that book started with so much hate...
But that happened because underneath the hating surface there was so much love...
Love beyond any imagination!!!

And the journey that did Dane and Kennedy from hating to loving each other was a difficult and hard road to walk but it was delightful for me...

Because those persons had suffer too much pain and loss and the only way to survive was to hold on in an inexcusable hatred...

Kennedy and Dane grow up with a similar way... From the earlier years of their lives, they knew that for some unknown reason their families was in war...
The difference between them was that Dane was the strong one and Kennedy the weak...
So in school years Dane torture his prey a lot...

It was like a game to him, since it wasn't alouded for him to be something more for Kennedy, even though deep down inside him, he wanted it desperately...

Everything changed when tragedy knocked their doors and the hatred became more obvious and came with much more intensity from the suppressed unknown feeling deep inside...
The rival between them was big and every day was becoming bigger, until the thin line between them blurred and it confused them...
The suppressed feelings came rapidly in the surface and swallowed them...

And they lost themselves to each other and it was so wonderfull and unique that even though they knew that they have to stay away from each other, they couldn't...
But eventually the secrets revealed and the line between blurred for once again...
Kennedy and Dane will find the way to overpower themselves and welcome that beautiful unknown feeling or they will leave the hatred to dominate their lives????

Well, i liked Kennedy and Dane...
They had suffer too much from each other and from their families and when the tragedy hit them they lost themselves... They were strungle to keep living... and they were strungle to stay away from each other...
Kennedy was more calm... She was suffering silently and she never put the blame to anyone else...
In contrary, Dane was more loud and he was accusing Kennedy for what he lost... So, he was more aggressive...

Everything was in contrast between them, but in my eyes that was what they made them to fit so good together... Their connection was fiercy, intense and strong...
It was leaving me breathless every single time...
And near to the end??? I wanted to scream to Dane and shake him up, because he was soooo... wrong!!!!

Anyway... I said too much and i don't want to reveal you much more about it!!! You should read it!!!
I just wanna tell you that i really liked Reid and Jade and i can't wait to read their story...
I felt so much sympathy about Charlie and Jewel!!! They were just... great!!!
And finally, their fathers sucked... sooooo.... much!!!
They were awful persons and very bad parents!!!!

Well, i feel pity that this book finished... I need more...

First - I absolutely loved this book! And the dedication?! LOVED IT.

"This book is dedicated to everyone who has ever felt inadequate, unloved, unappreciated, or invisible. You. Are. Enough. You. Are. Loved."

The Line Between is freaking awesome! It's the first book I've read by this author and I absolutely plan to read more of her books! I couldn't put this down.

I. FREAKING. LOVE. IT.

Dane and Kennedy's story is sad, emotional, wonderful, awesome and hot. They're meant for each other, they're perfect for each other. Both their dad's are assholes. I mean.. Wow. Their dads were both horrible.

I admit that I got angry at Dane several times but I still love him. I wish I had my own Dane Winters.

I will definitely re-read this! And I LOVE te cover!! I loved Jade and Reid and I'd love to read more about them!

I'd recommend this book to everyone because it was just sooo good.

Thanks again for the arc! :)

Holy fucking come all over my fucking face THIS BOOK!

So I've been in a bit of a book funk for quite sometime now. I read a book that left me so fucking hungover I just couldn't get into another book. I tired really I did but nothing seemed to compare to it. I only managed to finish one other book but still felt that emptiness.

An author friend of mine send me a message ranting and raving about a book she's just read. She stated it was in her top ten books, and knowing said author I knew it had to be good. So after she mentioned that the alpha was in fact an arsehole, I one clicked that fucker as I was completely sold. I have a thing for men who are compete wankers. You give me an absolute horrible fucker with a filthy mouth over a nice clean cut guy any fucking day.

I wasn't meant to be reading another book, I was way too busy with the ones I currently had but for some reason I just knew I had to read it there and then. So whilst telling myself I shouldn't be reading it the next thing I knew I was on chapter four and just couldn't put the fucker down.

I said to my author friend if she could compare it to any other book what would it be. So she told me. So I went into this book really excited as I loved those kind of stories. But not once did I ever compare it to the other book. A book I will not name as this book is in a league all on its own and dare I say I kind of liked it more.

I thought about this book from the moment I woke up to the time I fell asleep and I still thought about it in my dreams....really wet ones over Dane Fucking Winters!!! Fuck me that man done stuff to me! His filthy mouth, the way he spoke, I could hear his sexy voice in my head every word he said and the way he manhandled Kennedy, well let's just say she's one lucky fucking women! Apart from all the HOT motherfucking sex, the way they loved each other made my heart ache. I fucking cried through a fucking sex scene, ME! I'm normally running into a cold fucking shower whist reading a sex scene but no there was me fucking crying like a cock. It was so just beautiful and that fact that it was a goodbye just broke my fucking heart.

Now all I want to talk about is Dane, Dane I-Want-To-Sit-On-Your-Fucking-Face Winters. You are a complete and utter fucking WANKER but I fucking love you silly! You make me giddy as fuck that when ever you walk in the room or when ever your name is mentioned I want to climb in my book and ride your face, cowboy style and then lick you all over. I love the way you HATE but I fucking love the way you LOVE. You, you hot fucker have fucked your way into my life and you ain't ever leaving and no other fucker is having you either, you are MINE and Kennedy's. I will even settle for a threesome but only if I get to sit on your face.

 photo received_10155181294780473_zpsyqoxujcv.jpeg

Now as a lot of people already know that I'm a heroine whore, I can fall in love with a heroine as much as I can fall in love with the alpha. I have to be connected to the heroine to enjoy the book and I fucking LOVED Kennedy. I wanted to cry for her. The poor thing has been through a lot and it just seemed to get worse. Even Dane *moist* was the reason for most of her hurt but he also was the one to put her back together. Not only did I love these two together but I also loved the relationship Kennedy has with her best friend for life, Jade. They both remind me of some of the friendships I'm very lucky to have. They have become two of my favourite fictional friendships ever.

I was up from 4am till 7am reading this book and I feel I am now complete. This book completed me and for as long as I live I will never forget it. I will never forget what these beautiful characters went through and how they dealt with it. I will never forget the love and the hate they shared and the lose they both suffered.

It will make you laugh, especially when Jade and Grady get together, all girls need a gay BFF in their life and I want my very own Grady. You will have your own private pool party In your knickers with the filth that comes out of Danes mouth and the fucking animals sex these two indulged in. You will cry, fuck me you will cry. I was In a fucking state and have woken up with puffy eyes that look like two pissholes in the snow. But you will finish this book wanting to cuddle it just to get some comfort because you are so happy.

Not only do I want to thank all these characters for taking me on such an emotional roller coaster and for being in my life but I want to thank the author for creating such a beautiful story that captured me form the start and gave me a new book boyfriend and a heroine that I want to best friends with.

Tamsyn Bester, you are a beautiful writer and I will carry this book with me for the rest of my life. I'm crying as I'm writing this bit as this book has quickly become very special to me. I can't stop thinking about it and want it to continue forever.

I am completely and utterly in love with this book and want to rewind and read it all over again.

It's my very own 'Cliché'.

Not going to lie; this book was sooooo hard to read... ALL the anger and hate ESPECIALLY from Dane... I honestly wanted to punch him in the throat/balls/any body part really, for so much of this book... That said, while it was a hard story to read, it was sooooo good as well; well written, HIGHLY emotional and SUPER steamy, so JOB WELL DONE Tamsyn Bester :D

PS. Would sooooo love a book on Jade and Reid... just saying...

This might more accurately be a high 3/low 4 type of rating for me. Now this is a big of an odd one. I enjoyed it, and thought it was quite addictive, though I do have several issues with certain scenes/dialogue/reasoning for actions. A bunch of it didn't make sense to me. Plus, the enemies to lovers aspect which I usually love was very drastic and sudden in this novel.

Ultimately, this felt like the love child between Bully by Pen Douglas and Under The Lights by Abbi Glines. (I don't even know if UTL was out yet when this was released but I just read that before this one so...). But back to Bully, there were one or two scenes that were blatant Bully rip offs. It was so obvious I had to roll my eyes.

All in all not a bad novel, but it'll stay in the shadows between those aforementioned books in my mind. It was good, but not great.

But hello angst at the end! Loved it.

This book was fantastic! Kennedy and Dane hate each other. Dane is a jerk - he is a huge manwhore and is constantly doing things to hurt Kennedy. Their families are rivals, they were born and raised to hate each other. This story was kind of a Romeo and Juliet type story with an edge and a lot of steam. Sometimes, Dane does go a little too far and it is difficult to forgive but I really enjoyed the push and pull between him and Kennedy. I also really liked the supporting characters - especially Jade and Reid. I really loved this book, I'm adding it to my favorites list and I recommend it to anyone who loves a sexy college romance.

Nope, nope, nope, nope!
I don't know how to write an honest review and remain polite with this one. It's my first time feeling offended by a book and I don't know how to deal with it.

Ok I'll just say the few things that I liked. It was easy to read and sometimes the story had my attention. I was like 'Oh, it might get better.' and then I was 'Naaah it won't.' There were a couple of times that the description was perfect and I enjoyed a few steamy scenes but just that.

From now on my review won't be spoiler free so just have that in mind.

I'll start with the fact that the book had absolutely no plot. The whole 'our families hate each other and we can't be together' is no plot. I hoped that there was a good reason why the families hated each other but that wasn't the case. They just hated each other for some lands and that's not an excuse. Seriously!

The book starts with Dane bullying Kennedy because he was so carried away by the hatred. Well ok, I accept that because being a mean dick who enjoys bullying others is realistic. Sadly it happens a lot and even though it's unacceptable I get why Dane did it. Well that was untill he framed Kennedy for being a stalker. He went through all the trouble to actually stalk her boyfriend in order to frame her. That's not called bullying for fun, that's called bullying because of fucking obsession. He was sick.

Kennedy on the other hand, allowed a bully to destroy her life. Well yes, victims don't usually talk about it but it's their fault. I don't know a lot about bullying but if it was me being the victim, I would have destroyed the motherfuckers who annoyed me. Anyway, I'll just get past that because I am in no place to talk.

Both of them lost their siblings and that was when the story and my headache began. They both tried to go on with their lifes and forget about the hatred and each other till they met again in college.

Kennedy and her two friends were obviously the only good and worthy girls in this book. ALL the other girls in the story were described as trashed and sluts. I wonder why the author prefered to emphasize that they were readheads. Yes, I was offended and I don't get why having read hair instantly means you're a slut.
Also, all the girls drooling over Dane were presented as easy substitutes, who would willingly open their legs and allowed him to fuck her.
Not all girls are that way and you must be a misogynist to believe that. I thoroughly dislike when the leads are perfect and everybody else just not worth it.

Also, the book is written that way so that Kennedy can look like she has trusting issues but all I got was that she was just being a lying bitch, believing that her BEST friend was not good enough in order to trust her. Well, flash news for you Kennedy, being secretive and dishonest causes misunderstandings and makes things worse.
Jade was seriously the best friend anybody could ever have. Caring, understanding, supportive and all.

Dane was the absolute meaning of 'drama queen'. Hating Kennedy not because of the family history but because she was off-limits and all, made no sense. Why was she off-limits? Why hate her anyway? There was no real explaination.
If he wanted her and she wanted him, they could be together since both of them didn't even care about their families.

Also, the sex scenes were too much. I am so into steamy scenes and I enjoy them but when half of the book is sex then the genre goes from new adult to erotica. If I wanted to read erotica then I would have picked a book from that genre. I was like 'Oh look, another sex scene. Skip skip skip skip!' I needed some plot and I was convinced that erotica books have more plot than this one.
Another reason I skipped the sex scenes was the dialogue. Phrases like 'ahhh yeah', 'Mmmmmmm', 'Ohhhh' are unacceptable. A good author can describe a sex scene without using useless, ridiculous, awkward phrases.

To sum up, I was angry, offended and tired. I didn't like it at all. I do not recommend it but I suggest you read it. When you're done, come back to me and tell me I was wrong if that's the case.

Thank you.

3 Love/Hate Stars

The Line Between is a standalone, New Adult novel chronicling the relationship between two people fated to never be able to be together. Dane and Kennedy star in this witty, fun, romantic story written by a new author on the scene. Told from both their points of view, The Line Between flows rhythmically without dwelling or dawdling over inane plot points with internal dialogues where the reader gains great perspective on each of the main characters.

Dane Winters proves to be very much an anti-hero when we first meet him with Kennedy Monroe hailing as a victimized heroine. As the two experience horrific tragedy in very different ways providing each of them a different perspective the reader sees them each in a new light. When their paths cross and as the palpable tension between them enflames the result is a game of cat and mouse where each character plays role of both.

I believed in these characters and was invested in their story their fighting and banter proved very satisfying. I flipped through the pages in order to learn more and see where and how they would finally end their journey. At times, the story became predictable. The ending also felt quite rushed to me, I wished there was more of resolution to the ultimate conflict rather than the quick ending we were given plus bit longer epilogue as the epilogue felt like the resolution itself rather than an added bonus. However, passion does ignite between Dane and Kennedy. The games of banter and constant fighting were fun and refreshing to where the push/pull of their relationship didn’t become tiresome. The secondary characters lent a lot of positivity to the story as the reader could invest just as much in them. The Line Between was a good debut novel from this author if you're in the mood for a fun, angsty New Adult read. I enjoyed reading it.

Kennedy and Dane have known each other since they were kids. Generations before them, their relatives got into a disagreement which neither family can recall what it was about, but Dane’s family has been very adamant about the hate that they have for Kennedy’s family.

Since Kennedy could remember, Dane has been making her life hell; either by bullying people not to associate with her or embarrassing her in every way. Something tragic happens with one year of not seeing each other and these two enemies end up going to the same college. Dane’s old habits of making Kennedy’s life hell do not stop, but it is as if he is the only one that is allowed to make her miserable.

I love books that involve love-hate relationship. Where the hero “bully’s” the heroine most of his life, but turns out that he has secretly cared for and had a strong feelings for her his entire life. This was that kind of story. Perfect, I thought. I was in such a mood for that type of romance. I requested peace and quiet while I was reading this. This book started out so good (5 stars), but just when I thought all the attitude was going to stop, it didn't. This relationship was like watching a tennis match with all the back and forth. It took something tragic for one of the characters to realize feelings for the other person or at least that is what it felt like. I have a pet peeve about all the answers in the plot not coming out until close to the end. I understand that certain “mysteries” cannot be revealed until the end so the reader is still drawn to the book, but that does not mean that the reader has to wait for everything.

Even though, I enjoyed parts of the book, I just needed a little more.

Although it was a good read, I do feel as though Dane forced this "feud" to go on way longer than it needed to! Although the back and forth banter was rather amusing at times, it got old. You either want her or you don't!!

I got rather frustrated towards the end and kind of wanted it to end already...not a good thing to want while reading a book!! I did like the ending, though it did seem a bit rushed if you ask me!! The rest of the book dragged on...why couldn't I at least get a proper ending?!

Too much like a poor man's 'Bully'. I couldn't get my head around the story when there was so much similarity.

some_text

We were a mismatched set of complications, and craptastic pasts, and everything else that made us a colossal disaster in the making.

I love it, I love it, I love it.

Dane Winters had made her life a living hell. All those malicious pranks that was pulled upon her during her teen years. He hated her too much, for some reason that none of them can comprehend. I hated Dane for what he did to Kennedy. Sometimes it was too much, even his best friend Reid would agree. There were times he couldn't just stop himself from being an a**h**le and it was totally frustrating.

But there was this tinee-tiny sexual tension that was already there the moment they hit puberty, and each time they met, it only continued to grow, and it was a bomb so dangerously close to explosion. And it was the one I was looking forward to.

Kennedy was not hard to love - she's a sweet, intelligent girl who didn't want any trouble. It took her long enough to finally stand up and go against Dane, but it was such a site to behold. I love this girl - her good, forgiving nature. At some point, when he was just too much, I think he didn't deserve her. Both of them had endured lost, they just dealt with grief differently.

As for Dane, I wished he'd just kissed her and get over it. He had done too much damage. He'd be nice, and then he'd hurt her more. He'll said some things that can break heart, and then regret it. God. He so made me cry. His words were cruel, as it was spoken at the height of his emotions. But there were times when another Dane would appear, the sweet, caring Dane. The one you would fall in love with. The one you wanted to be with. He can be amazing once he put his mind into it.

He hated her since then, made her life miserable - and he was the only one who knew why. One tragedy connected the both of them that had changed their lives profoundly. He didn't know who to blame, so he made her his target. Everything was just the same, until he crossed that thin line between hate and love.

Would the secondary characters have their books as well? Because they're a bunch of support system that have their own sets of issues. Their loyalties are astounding, and I love to hear their stories as well.

Once I started reading it, I was hooked, I couldn't put it down until I was on the last page. It was filled with so much emotion - of love, of hate and that fine line in between. It was too intense, it consumed me. You're going to love the characters, hate them, root for them. They're going to make and break your hearts. I love how the story went, no boring moments in between, all fresh, raw emotions that will send chills to your spine and tears in your eyes. Yep, I was teary during the late night read and I couldn't wait to recommend this to friends. Talk about another one of those book hang-over.

My first Tamsyn Bester book, and I'm sure this wouldn't be the last. Hey Tamsyn, you got yourself another fan right here!

Do you smell smoke? That was just my kindle combusting from all the smokin' hot sexual chemistry coming from Tamsyn Bester's newest release, The Line Between. We all know there's a thin line between love and hate. This book takes that premise, flips it on it's head, throws in some angst, some HOT sex and, ladies and gentlemen we have ourselves an amazing addition to the New Adult genre.

Kennedy and Dane hate each other. Neither of them really quite understands the reason why. An age old feud between their great-great-great-grandfather's has been ingrained into their existence since birth. Dane goes out of his way to make Kennedy's life a living hell while secretly wanting her. Finding new ways to torment her is his favorite past time. Until Kennedy hits her breaking point. Soon indifference and hatred turns to lust and that thin line is crossed. When their family feud begins heating back up, will their burgeoning relationship survive the cross fire?

I have to say, BRAVO, Tamsyn. I really loved this book! Just the right amount of angst to keep my heart fluttering and all around sexy! There were excellent secondary characters I definitely wouldn't mind seeing again. Reid and Jade, hint hint. Plus this book is nice and long!

The Line Between is told in first person POVs from both main characters. Standalone, no cliffy.

4 Stars!

I think this book is either going to be a love or hate for many people because of the similarity to Bully by Penelope Douglas. There are a lot of similarities which can be off butting to many readers.

However, me personally I enjoyed this book!
YES it reminded me of Bully
YES I'm probably going to go reread that book now
BUT Kennedy and Dane still had their own drama that was very different from Bully.

The family dynamics were completely different. Dane's motive were completely different thus giving this story it's own identity apart from Bully.

Kennedy and Dane's family remind me of Romeo and Juliet's, their families hated each other and thus they were expected to do the same as well. Mostly to which Dane does. He torments Kennedy all throughout High School to the point where she disappears for a year and a half after graduation. (I'll admit the time line for this book left me crazy confused, and I still am) I'm assuming she went to school her freshman year in Georgia before transferring to Brighton with the rest of them? Because then how does she live with all sophomores.) Anywho Kennedy and her friend Jade find themselves living next door to none other than Dane and his best friend and this is where things get tricky.

Kennedy has all but ignored the family feud that's been going on. She was best friends with Dane's twin sister until an accident left the families to loath each other even more. It's an accident that Dane hasn't forgotten and even in college has decided to make Kennedy's life a living hell.

Kennedy's a different girl though, and she's tired of Dane and finally stands up to him. Which only sets Dane off even more, and then something happens between the two that no one and everyone saw coming. Now all they have is a short amount of time because let's face it they can't be together with all the circumstances as to who they are.

----

Like I said I enjoyed this book, BUT I was left with A TON of unanswered questions.

There were more I just can't remember but overall it was a really good book with a ton of steamy scenes!

So, have you ever had that one character where they were so frustrating that you hated them, and then the next minute they would do something so sweet that you just couldn’t help but love them. Well Dane was that way for me.
So, I do like asshole guys but I will admit that I thought Dane was just a little too much at first. I even put the book down for a few days and read a different one. But, after I picked the book back up and got threw a few chapters I started to like Dane.
Dane sure can make you go through all kinds of emotions, from being pissed as hell in one minute for something he’s done to loving him the next. He just kind of grows on you.
From the beginning the chemistry Dane and Kennedy have is very strong. But when they actually get together its explosive. And the Sex scenes are hot. And I do mean hot. That never was their issue. The issues they had where mostly because of their family’s.
I really felt sorry for Kennedy. She has gone through so much because of Dane, amongst other things. She was a great heroine. She was a fighter. I’m glad that she had her best friend, Jade, by her side. I usually either smiled or laughed when she was around.
The side characters aka the best friends where amazing. I loved each and every one of them. Loved Jade and Reid.
Overall
Despite not like Dane at first he really grew on me. He got on my good side and I was cheering for him and Kennedy to get their HEA. Really liked it. The book does have some really mature adult scenes so beware. I think if you like the enemies to loves then this book is something I would suggest you check out. And if you have read any of Tamsyn's previous books, then I would check out this one.

I’m obviously one of very few that do not like this type of alpha male.

The ones who are overly forceful. Severely angry. Too rough. Major assholes with a sensitive side.

And no matter how sensitive that side is, I can’t look past the other parts.

And every time Dane would do something sweet or say something funny, I would remember the times he was a dick.

And his reasoning for being a dick (because, as you know, all our bad alpha boys have some major daddy or momma issues): because he believed some shit his dad told him and couldn’t have the girl he wanted.

Is that justified reasoning to ruin a girl’s adolescence? I mean maybe in middle school I can see a guy picking on a girl that he likes and it being sort of okay, but in high school and even beyond that? FUCK NO. It’s ridiculous. And it was cruel. Ugh, it made me cringe.

So that is why I didn’t completely fall in love with this book.

I did, however, fall in love with some of the characters, mostly Jade and Reid. And I absolutely think they need their own book.

I loved the friendships between everyone. I liked the humor and some parts made me tear up. Seriously, the last few chapters were really emotional!

And yes, if I forget about Dane being a douche, it was hot. Like, holy shit, dirty talk to the max.

And then there is the cowboy aspect. I can only assume that The Line Between takes place in Texas. And considering that I am from right next door in Louisiana, I’ve seen my fair share of cowboys. And then I’ve seen cowboy type people. FYI: just because he wears a cowboy hat, cowboy boots and drives a truck, he ain’t a cowboy.

Anyways, I read this fairly quickly. It was interesting and pulled me under pretty fast. I just am not attracted to Dane as everyone else must be.

This is a Standalone novel.

Kennedy Monroe is a 19 and ready to embark on a new chapter of her life. Having spent time away from her home town to pick up the pieces of her shattered life following the tragic deaths of her best friend and her older brother; she is now ready for a fresh start and is looking forward to joining her closest friend Jade at College.

Life has always been tough for Kennedy. Having lost her mother at a young age, the distance of her so called father always stung. The person she could always rely on was Charlie, her best friend, beloved older brother and the only true family she could rely on. When he died alongside Jewel Winter, a little part of her went with him. Returning to college in Brighton though means facing Jewel's twin brother and her high school nemesis Dane. He made her life hell and as difficult as he possibly could. They hate each other with a passion, but she is stronger now and is determined that he will not ruin her college experience. The plan is to avoid him, that is until she realises that he will be living next door.

Dane Winter is rich, gorgeous and the campus playboy. Since the death of his twin sister, he has partied and slept his way across campus to mask the pain of his loss. The fact that she died alongside Charlie Monroe makes her death that much harder to accept. The Monroe's and Winter's have a long history. They have feuded for generations and he has been more than happy to continue the family tradition. He hated Kennedy and relished in making her life difficult. However when they hit puberty he started noticing Kennedy for all the wrong reasons. He stepped up his campaign of hate because there was no way he could or should even want a Monroe. Now she has returned and she is even more beautiful. How can he continue to hate her when he wants her this much.

This is a modern day twist on Romeo and Juliet, of the fine line between love and hate and of forgetting the past to find a brighter future.

I am so pleased I got to read this book. I loved the synopsis and the subject matter of the line between love and hate has always been something that fascinates me in storytelling. I was sucked into the book immediately; I then seriously struggled to put it down until I'd reached the very last page. It had the perfect mix of family drama, love, hate, serious steam and my absolute favourite... ANGST. This book is packed to the rafters with it and you will be kept guessing throughout as to whether these two former enemies can admit to the love and connection that they have, instead of hiding behind the actions of hate as they have done in the past.

It is a push and pull relationship and you will route for them throughout. I loved Kennedy and her determination to stand strong and take no more shit. I also had this real sympathy for what she has tolerated not only from Dane but also from her Father. Dane, I loved him but I would also understand people hating him (it's that love and hate thing) It's never easy to be the bullied but actually his bullying was more a case of pushing away someone that he believed he couldn't and shouldn't want. He does some shitty things but I could feel the attraction he had for Kennedy throughout, he just struggled in finding the right way to show it.

This really was a heartbreaking and breathtakingly beautiful love story; Tamsyn Bester should be very proud of the characters and the story she has created. Her writing draws you in and she has managed to express the characters emotions so well, you will seriously feel them tingle in your bones. This is my first Tamsyn Bester read; it won't be my last.

If you want to read a captivating story of finding love in the arms of the enemy - The Line Between is a MUST READ!
