The Characters Within

Brittany Myers is stuck. She hates her role as a Cheese Crusader to Florida's popular Cheddar and Such theme park! She is sick of the guests, the heat and working at the Fun at the Parm Attraction which features the animatronics Patty the Pretzel and Peter the Breadstick. Her only relief from the monotony is writing chapters in her upcoming novel "The Carnival Ride" where she tells stories with theatrical scenes about her co-workers, her fears and the struggles she faces day in and day out. With the help of her work family, the man of her dreams and her best friend, Brittany discovers that the magic she is looking for was right inside of her the entire time.

This is a fun book to read as we follow Brittany on her journey. When she first gets hired at the theme park she is excited to work at a place where she hopes to move up into management. Years later she is still working at the park, but things didn’t quite turn out well for her. Getting up every day to go to a dead end job is not where she wanted to be at her age. I do like that she hasn’t given up on her dream of being an author.

It can be sad getting rejection letters from publishers, but Brittany continues her dream of someday being a famous author. At times we can feel her hopelessness and dejected attitude as her life becomes a routine. The author explores what it is like as you learn what your purpose is. We all have experienced moments when we were not happy with a job, a decision or something that caused us to become stagnant. In our frustration we forget to be content where we are.

The book is short but has valuable lessons for us all. We need to remember the people around us that encourage us each day and to not take them for granted. Brittany was unhappy at her job and life but soon discovers that the happiness she had been looking for was right in front of her. I love stories that give me hope and remind me to never give up on your dream.

I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion.

This is a good book for high school through young career aged readers who feel they are unimportant and going nowhere. Perhaps they are in a dead end job. Perhaps they look at others, compare themselves to them and feel they are lacking.

Readers will find some thought provoking issues covered in this novel. Rodgers reminds readers comparing themselves with others is not a good idea because each person is unique and valued in a different way. She shows how readers need to confront the fantasy world they might be dreaming about. They may very well be missing the best thing that is right in front of them.

Rodgers' writing style is basic and easy to read. It would be an encouragement to young readers trying to find their way in life.

I received a complimentary digital copy of this book through Celebrate Lit. My comments are an independent and honest review.

This was a really good read. It was also a quick read. I liked Brittany and the questions that really can be brought to the surface by this story. I'm going to share this with my teenagers because I think it is a good one and since it is just a quick read, it will be a good discussion book.

I felt for Brittany and understand the feeling of being in a dead end job. I also liked the points made. The story flowed well and the characters were great. It really was a good book and I enjoyed it.

4/5

Thank you to the author/publisher for the review copy of this book via Celebrate Lit. I received this book in exchange for an honest review and the opinions stated above are 100% mine.

This quick read was a cute story by @authorsunshinerodgers ! This has a book within a book with a musical element to the story. I always enjoy an opportunity to read anything by Sunshine Rodges because she adds these little elements to the book that bring me so much happiness - like little pictures, songs, letters to the character.
If you need a book about found family, learning to recognize what’s right in front of you, and happy endings to love and career, pick this up. I read this in like an hour and a half! It’s a nice pick me up!

The Characters Within is a delightful little book by Sunshine Rodgers. I have enjoyed other books this author in the past and this one is no different. At just over one hundred pages, it was an easy read. I enjoyed the most important lesson, as well as, a great reminder in the book of searching who are you and finding yourself within. I was intrigued to keep reading to find out which way Brittany’s path would take her to see who she really is. Overall, a good, quick story.

I am giving The Characters Within four stars. Readers who enjoy reading clean and inspirational book. I look forward to reading more like this by Sunshine Rodgers in the future.

I received a digital copy of The Characters Within from the publisher, but was not required to write a positive review. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.

Maybe my first real job when I turned sixteen being at a theme park caused me to initially want to read this book. But once I started reading, I could not put it down. I loved getting to know Brittany Myers, her best friend Travis, and the other characters in this book.

Sometimes, we feel stuck where we are, and can not seem to move forward with our heart’s genuine desire. Brittany feels stuck in her job, and finds herself unable initially to get her book published, but she continues writing. Eventually, she discovers that her heart’s desires have been right in front of her.

This story moved along at a good pace and kept my interest. I also loved the inclusion of the dialogue from Brittany’s book she is writing. I also appreciated how Brittany continued writing and submitting her work until she finally receives an acceptance letter.

So check out this book for yourself. I definitely recommend it.

I received a complimentary copy of this book, but this in no way influenced my review. All opinions are my own.

Inspirational books with Humor are a good genre and I don't really give them the attention they deserve. The Characters Within by Sunshine Rodgers is the latest book that I had the opportunity to read.

Brittany Myers has been working at a Florida Theme Park for many years. She was excited about her job when she started working there as she had hoped she could one day move up and become a manager. She no longer enjoys her job as it is the same thing day after day and she is bored. The one thing that keeps her going is to continue to write chapters for a book that she hopes to be published in the near future. The book is a humorous look at things her co-workers do on the job and also her fears and frustrations she deals with on a daily basis. Will Brittany see her dreams of being a published author come true?

WOW, this book is short, only 114 pages, but it sure packs a lot of fun and love in it. I really LOVE that Brittany keeps her focus on her future even when discouraged by her current circumstances. The LOVE and Encouragement from her Work Family, Best Friend, and Boyfriend is a wonderful thing. Brittany felt the encouragement and love from those around her and it opened to eyes to her future. The book is one of encouragement, love and knowing that dreams can be reached and never to give up hope on your dreams. I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Inspirational Humor with Romance. GREAT BOOK!

Do you enjoy a book that makes you laugh? I love a good humour novel. I mean, suspense is and forever will be my favorite but I love it if my suspense books have humour in them. But this book, I loved it. It’s a great humorous novel but also within the humour is love and fun. Oh and a solid Christian base.

This is not my first book by this author. But I think it might be my favorite.

In this book, you’re going to learn valuable lessons. It’s a short book but it packs a punch.

Brittany never thought she’d be in the same dead-end job at a theme park (amusement park) at her age. But here she is. She’s not moved up into management. And she’s not made her dream of being an author.

Follow along as she and her friends work towards their dreams but also have fun along the way.

I have voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from Celebrate Lit. All views expressed are only my honest opinion. I was not required to write a positive review nor was I compensated in any other way. All opinions expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the FTC regulations.

Do you find yourself needing to laugh lately? Do you want a book that will make you smile? The Characters Within which is written by Sunshine Rodgers is the book for you. This was such a quick and humorous read. Brittany Myers took a job at a theme park with the intention of moving up. She is a Cheese Crusader and has to spend her days saying corny sayings. It was not how she envisioned things.

She starts working on a story which she hopes will be a best selling hit. She writes comical stories about her co workers and her adventures at working at a theme park. However, the rejection letters start to roll in - and she tries to not be discouraged. With the help of her friends and family - will she finally make her dreams come true?

This book had me chuckling a lot. It was a quick easy read and I enjoyed it. The book is well written. Thank you to the author, publisher and Celebrate Lit for allowing me to read a copy of my book - all thoughts are my own.
