One moment of weakness and now I’m stuck fake dating the man I never thought I’d talk to again. If it was up to me, I wouldn’t even look at Wesley Cole, let alone pretend to kiss him.
I’m smart enough to know the man in front of me now isn’t the boy from childhood who stole my heart. Too bad my body and brain can’t get on the same page. A few more months of playing nice and then he can go back to his family dynasty, and I’ll once again be the golden girl the media expects me to be.
If this is all for show, why is he so convincing when he looks at me like a man in love?
Better Date Than Never, is a full-length romantic comedy, can be read as a standalone, and is the second book in the Unlucky in Love Series.

Her books are a little funny, a lotta romantic, and with just a little twist of something more. She lives with her husband, daughter, and two needy dogs at home in the desert Southwest. She finds writing bios in the third person an extreme sport of awkwardness.
Better Date Than Never is the second book in Piper Sheldon’s Unlucky in Love Series and can easily be read as a stand-alone.
Twenty years ago, Emma and Wesley were on a TV show together. She was the “Golden Girl” and her reputation still proceeds her. She left Hollywood, but now uses her childhood fame to do charity work. He was the bad boy and is a member of Hollywood royalty. Having grown up in a Hollywood dynasty, his parents have controlled his entire career and he wants out.
She had a crush on him the entire run of the show and thought they were close, but he always kept their friendship a secret. When the show ended, they shared a night that changed them forever, but he ghosted her without any explanation. Years later, a moment of weakness from their past comes back to haunt them and forces them to deal with the consequences and into a fake relationship together.
The forced proximity makes them deal with their past and the chemistry they had when they were younger still exists. Wesley has a lot of explaining to do and a lot to make up for and boy does he. He’s always been protective of her and fought his feelings for her because of it. They really are meant to be together. Their fans even had a shipper name for them, “Emsley”.
I loved the banter between them. It leads to some great sexual tension that they finally, finally give into. It also gets pretty swoony when we finally see the Wesley he hides behind the Hollywood façade.
I love that Emma has a strong backbone and can stand up for herself. As much as Wesley wants to protect her, she’s very protective of him too. She’s pretty badass. There were times I wanted to throw my Kindle (IYKYK), but I was very satisfied with how everything happens in the end.
There are cameos from characters we met in Book #1 and I loved that we got to have a couple scenes with Agata because she is hilarious. Also, holy plot twist, Batman. That’s all I’ll say about that.
I’m really enjoying this series and can’t wait for Harrison’s story. It was highly alluded to in this book and I’m excited to see where it goes.
Don’t be chicken, you know you want to read it.
Thank you to Piper Sheldon. I voluntarily read an early copy of this book.
Troupes- childhood friends to lovers to enemies to lover, forced proximity, celebrity romance, mutual pining
CW- parental manipulation and gaslighting
I honestly went into this book thinking I wasn’t gonna care that much about these characters (Sorry for doubting you Piper😅) I’m not a huge fan of rich people problems or celebrities in general so I was not prepared for Emma and Wesley and their very tragic past and present!
OMG Piper could you have written a more unlikeable Baddie? Wesley’s father Rex is the scum of the earth and I was ever so grateful to have a paperback I could angrily slam it closed just about every time he was on the page! I also cried a lot! Sad tears, happy tears, angry tears, all the tear for all the feels!
Emma as the golden girl reminds me so much of Emma Watson, in fact this while series reminds me of the HP cast with Wesley as Draco Malfoy. I don’t know if that was Piper’s intent but I am loving the crap out of drawing the similarities.
Piper delivers on the almost all the spicy times. I want that cut off scene Piper! Emma and Wesley have of sizzling chemistry right from the first pages, which makes scene given their history. And it only gets more explosive the more time they spend together.
I don’t want to give anymore away so Ill just leave you with this.
If you love mutual pining, where he has loved her his whole life but has pushed her away to keep her safe, then this story is for you.
I cannot wait for Harrison’s Story! He needs is HEA ASAP!
Thank you Piper Sheldon for this advanced copy in exchange for my honest review! 😘
I loved the first one in the “Unlucky in Love” series and this one is no different. I couldn’t wait to read the “bad boy of Terraformative”‘s story!! Wesley Cole comes from Hollywood royalty and lead a very different life than the other kids on the popular TV series. Little did they know that he wanted to be just like them, but wasn’t allowed.
Completely controlled by his narcissistic father, Wesley doesn’t have a say in anything: his career, his friends, even his romantic partners.
Wesley and Emma have always had a connection, even if Wesley tried to keep it hidden from his father’s minions. All grown up and ready to break ties with his family, until once again, Wes has to toe the line to keep Emma safe from his father’s machinations.
Loved this fake dating story that was never really fake for either of them. When all the truths come out, you cannot help but root for these two to get their happy ending. And I loved how Emma is the one to save the day!! Girl Power!!
Totally recommend this series and loved the foreshadowing for book three. Cannot wait!!
“A lifetime of a thousand tiny cuts had left him one giant open wound, bleeding out in front of me.” Oh my heart. If I could give this book all the stars I would. Never doubt that Piper Sheldon is going to give you a book to pour all your emotions into. She consistently delivers with some of my top reads each and every year. This book is a must-read!!

I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I loved this book it was an enemies to lovers but not really?
The thing is Wesley and Emma have known each other since they were 11 and filming a TV show together. During the years of filming, they became friends and something more but always in secret.
Afterwards Wesley distances himself from Emma and for many years she has a complex of not being enough, all because of the way he treated her.
What we see is the story is how they find themselves in a situation in which they have to pretend to date and in doing so, they get close again and they find out truly what happened those years ago.
I loved Wesley and how he turned after having been brought up in a very toxic environment.
Wes and Ems chemistry is off the charts and their story is filled with ups and downs that leave the reader wanting for more.
All in all, I really liked this book, even better than the previous one in the series.

Piper writes the best characters - they will make you swoon, laugh and never want the story to end.
Wesley and Emma are the perfect match but they have to get past all the hurt, drama and annoying family to get to their HEA.
The side characters add so much to the story - Charles, Kate, Ageta - who’s so funny and Harrison. Harrison is a little much and I can’t wait to read his story. Also hoping to read more about Sofia and Mac - that could be interesting. Haha
I love the emotion, passion and love throughout this book. It’s a warm, feel good story that will make you smile, giggle and be thoroughly entertained.
I was excited for Emma’s story after Stranger Than Fan Fiction and this book did a good job with it! I didn’t love the story as much as Charlie’s, but that’s a hard act to follow.
Emma and Wesley were great main characters, there was just nothing really about them that made me connect to their stories. This one definitely felt like it was for the Draco/Hermione lovers out there.
Actions mean more than words right? So I'll just say I read this in slightly more than 24h, staying up reading till 1 am for two consecutive nights and I regret nothing!!
I am in love with these characters! I loved the friendship between the intrepid trio, i love Agatha (every time she gets a scene she steals it!!), I loved Wesley. Don't get me wrong, my heart ached for Wesley and it's still bleeding, but him and Emma are to die for. I love a good fake dating trope and if you mix in their previous emotions it becomes chef's kiss. And all of their adorableness (is that a word? Please be one), their cuteness, this bond they share which is incredible.
Now I don't know how I'll manage to wait patiently for Harrison cause the glimpses we got are amazing. And I really hope we get to see Sophia and Mac more, cause they may reserve us some really great scenes. And of course, more Agatha and more chickens for everyone!!
This series is so good. I cannot wait until the whole Intrepid Trio gets a story. I am so happy for Wesley and Emma. They waited years to be together. They overcame obstacles and family to be together. I loved getting to spend some time with Kate and Charlie too. Harrison's story is coming, and I have a feeling I know who the live interest will be. If she is the one, his will be the best one yet. Always happy to read and review for Piper!
When I received a copy of this to read from the author I was so excited! I have loved all of her books in the SmartyPants Romance world, and while I haven’t read the first in this series yet, it was set up as a standalone, so I was able to fall in love with the world so quickly!
I love these characters that were all teen stars as part of a hit tv show that lasted a long time. I could totally see being one of the people that would be a big fan of the show and totally would have shipped some of the characters myself! There was a lot more going on with Wesley’s family, so much more that wasn’t even revealed until the final dramatic moment at the end of the story. But even just the little bits we got to know at the beginning, as well as bit by bit as the story went on, made me want Wesley to be able to share his feelings with Emma and be able to be happy for once, the way he wanted to be happy.
And then Emma had so much to be worried about letting herself feel for him again, but how much and how easily he could hurt her. Her friends were so good about being there for her, and trying to help her keep herself from getting hurt again. But they also knew when it might be time to let go of the reins so that she could get the chance to see how she and Wesley might actually be the one for each other. Their feelings for each other showed through every bit of their interactions and reactions throughout the whole story.
Now I must go back and read book one, and I am hoping/assuming the author will write a third book for Harrison, I’m guessing it will have something to do with Frankie, and that maybe we’ll get even more looks at the summers they spent with the author who wrote the books their tv show was based on. His part in this book was touching, and definitely had some tears in my eyes. I worry that there might be something really sad with him in the next book. And I wonder about the list he kept mentioning that Harrison was so intrigued/concerned about.
If you're in the mood for a story that feels like a soap opera, you'll probably really like this. Sometimes I like that. I haven't liked it with either book in this series. The story stays at a surface level depth while trying to feel deep. Anything and everything is possible by convenience and for the sake of drama and the reader is told far more than shown.
This book started off better than book one in the series but then the story skipped an important chunk of time that would have allowed for quite a bit of character and relationship development. Things were building and then *poof* fast forward a week or two and the couple is magically in a different place than they ever were and the reader doesn't get to see any of the magic that would have gotten them there. It was a disappointment.
I feel like the story skims across the surface of everything and only pretends to be "deep" without actually showing any depth. It feels cheap and campy. There's a lot of telling the reader they know each other's souls and are "stronger than anything that is thrown at them" but we don't get to see how and why they're suddenly so much closer than ever before. Being secretly close as teenagers does not equate to suddenly being even closer after 20 years of pretending to hate each other. It was frustrating and a huge missed opportunity to grow the characters.
Finally, the Brits read like fake British. Like Americans pretending to be British. I kept forgetting they were British until the occasional "hullo" or "bloody" was awkwardly thrown out. I am no expert but it did not feel authentic. It doesn't help that I just finished a novel by a British author, but it bothered me with the first book, too.
I'm going to do myself a favor and not read this author anymore. It's too soap opera-fake, anything and everything can and will happen, little showing/mostly telling. Too many pet peeves for me again.
*******************
After book 1 Stranger than Fiction, here is book 2 of the Unlucky In Love series, we follow Emma, 2nd member of the Intrepid Trio, and Wesley who is her teenage crush. As they celebrate the 20th anniversary of their TV series, Emma and Wesley are caught on camera by paparazzi, but out of context and from afar, this photo ignites fans.
In order to turn this fuss to their advantage, Wesley's manipulative/dictator father forces them to fake a romance while Wesley gets an Oscar for his latest film. Emma doesn't have much choice, her work with charities is threatened.
Nevertheless, Emma and Wesley are both secretly in love with each other and although they are a little reluctant at first, they soon indulge in the charade, until it becomes obvious that they cannot be separated from each other. But Papa Cole has decided otherwise... it's going to be time for Wesley to face his demons.
Emma and Wesley grew up together, both stars of a TV series when they were children, and both had to make a hard shell to protect themselves. Emma is viewed as the image of a perfect and flawless young woman, she lends her face for causes that are close to her heart, but she forgets herself behind this version of her. Wesley was born into a family with a big reputation in show business, he grew up doing what he was told to do and didn't even have a say in the choice of his films. But little by little he aspires to get out of his father's control and live a life of anonymity.
Wesley doesn't want his problems and insecurities to tarnish their relationship and is willing to go to extremes to spare Emma. But it is without considering Emma, who will put on the armor and leap to the recuse of her prince charming. Here it's the heroine who will draw on her own resources and be strong for two in order to help Wesley evacuate decades of abuse.
Piper Sheldon offers us a romance with characters in depth despite evolving in a world of glitter and pretense. A great success !
2.5 stars. It was fine. I had such high hopes for this book because I really loved the first book in the series but it just fell flat for me. Mostly I was bored…until almost the end. Clearly in the minority here.
I thought I couldn’t love the series more than I did reading the first book but I fell hard for Wesley and Emma. Their chemistry is palpable and I just wanted them to be real and be my friends. There was also some foreshadowing about the last of our trio and if I was reading that right and I’d like to think that I was, book 3 will be the best of them. I cannot wait and I think everyone should read this series.
5 Emotion-filled stars! This is the romance that my Dramione-loving heart needed. Emma Flynn and Wesley Cole have been shipped by their fans since their childhood days in the spotlight and their fake-dating attempts don’t fool anyone.
The fact that there is enough family drama and manipulation to sink a ship only made Emma and Wesley’s relationship that much stronger.
Piper Sheldon clearly poured her fan-fic loving heart into this unputdownable new release.
I received an ARC from the author today. It was a sweet and emotional love story. It was wonderful to see how these two characters finally got their happily ever after.
For me, a definitive indicator of how much I like a book is whether or not I keep thinking about the characters after I’ve finished reading. Not in a ‘I really liked that chapter’ way but rather a ‘thinking about them in their daily lives’/’forgetting they’re not real people’ way.
As you might have guessed, that’s exactly what happened with the characters in Piper Sheldon’s ‘Unlucky in Love’ series. ‘Better Date Than Never’ is the second book, following two ex-child stars as they are forced into a fake relationship for publicity.
The plot was slightly outrageous, which I adore in celebrity romances. I won’t include too much by way of spoilers because I truly recommend reading it for yourself, but the triumphant climax of the plot was emotional, entertaining, satisfying, and yet ridiculous all in one.
The overriding theme of the book is that love conquers all; I found Wesley and Emma’s commitment to each other really touching. I think there’s something unique about knowing someone as a teenager, that incredibly vulnerable stage in your life where you start to find your place in relation to others. This led to some beautifully tender scenes - and also top level pining!
My favourite part of this series is the friendship between Harrison, Charlie, and Emma. Their love and support for each other is just wonderful and really makes me smile. And I am so thrilled to say that the British-speak of these characters is not egregious, something I’m always wary of when reading English characters, so I can in good conscience recommend this to British people!
‘Better Date Than Never’ is a hopeful and charming romcom, which takes you on an emotional and entertaining journey. I cannot wait for Harrison’s book!
I really wanted to love this. I am not a fan of second chance romances. But when you read the beginning and you know his dad probably made Wes dump Emma then I was rooting for them. In the beginning I was anyway!
So they were on a tv show as kids. She was part of the main cast -the intrepid trio- and he was the villain but they secretly hung out and became close.
They gave each other there virginity but then he left and didn't speak to her again. Told reporters they were never friends. Even married someone else and refused to do the reunion from the first book. The whole time she's just mooning after him.
She sees him in a bar and he looks sad so she follows him outside and he tells her to leave him alone. She asks what she ever did to hurt him and he tells her not everything is about her and he is actually getting divorced. She gives him a quick hug then leaves.
The hug is in the news the same day his divorce is announced so obvs the woman is blamed. His parent -who might be the worst humans I've ever read- say they need to fake date which honestly I don't know why she agreed to it. She didn't need to. After the way they have all treated her for however many years she should have told them to eff off!!
The tension at the first photoshoot was written well and I couldn't help but think if they just had a discussion then the book could have been over at 37%.
She moves in even before they announce they are together which makes no sense. Why torture yourself like that. Then it jumps two weeks and I think we miss too much.
Then we have Wes being annoying. He loved her back them but his made him break her heart. He loves her now but cant stay with her cos his dad! Then he's touching and kissing her but knows he has to end it cos you know, his dad. Grow some balls man! Wes is a wet blanket!
He finally tells her everything that happened. That his dad even picked his wife and blah blah wo always me. He finally apologized which you know, about time too but he was still planning to dump her at this point.
Then there breakup is announced without either of them knowing about it and she is blindsided by the paps. They do stay together which was nice. He wins his Oscar confused as to why she isn't there and his mum is just awful. She basically tells him to be a good little boy and do as daddy tells you
Emma, who does have balls as it turns out gets Wes dad back and I really enjoyed that bit. Probably the best bit of the book
Epilogue was nice but more HFN
What is with them all saying hullo? I'm English and never heard anyone say that. It would have been more realistic to say ello. I'm not sure if the author is British but it came off weird.
I didn't like the podcast chapters. The brought nothing to the story
His friend betrayed him and nothing happened. He just tells him to be a bodyguard for Emma's friend. His friend says yeah ok and all's ok. Come on Wes! No wonder everyone walked all over you for so long!
His mum at the end. What the eff was that. She did a complete 180 personality change. The whole uncle this was unnecessary
The best bit of the book was the trios friendship. Its solid and makes me want to go see my best friend

An emotion filled rom-com from one of my favorite authors that's part of a series inspired by the only fanfic I've ever read, and it features one of my favorite tropes (fake dating)? SIGN ME UP! Like there was virtually no way his book could be bad, and yet, Emma and Wesley's story still exceeded my expectations.
Emma and Wesley have been into each other since they were kids on a hugely popular tv show. While they were secretly close during filming, Wesley went out of his way to distance himself from Emma when it was over - going so far as to be outwardly hostile towards her. Now, years later, a brief encounter at a party, a leaked photo, and an exceptionally vile father have Emma and Wesley having to work together to pull off a "dating for publicity" stunt to keep themselves in the public's good graces (and out of Wesley's father's crosshairs).
One of the things I like about a lot of fake dating stories is the mutual pining that often accompanies those stories, and this story delivers that in spades. Even when they're appearing to genuinely dislike each other, the chemistry between these two is undeniable. Despite it very much being a rom-com, there's a lot of emotion in Emma and Wesley's story. Not like sob-my-eyes-out emotional, but definitely enough to have me tearing up a couple times. There's no shortage of obstacles to Wesley and Emma finding a HEA - their fame, Wesley's incredibly toxic family, Emma's reputation and charity work - but once they get on the same page, they freaking work for it, and that was so lovely to read. I really love a story where a couple actually communicates and works through things together, and we get that with Emma and Wesley.
I'm just really enjoying the heck out of this series. Both books so far have been full of humor while also being emotional and heart warming. They're just fun exceptionally entertaining stories and I can't wait to see where the rest of the series goes. From the glimpses we got in this book, I NEED Harrison's book STAT!
This second book in the Unlucky in Love series about the Intrepid Trio of the tv series Terraformative delivers the Hollywood drama in a big way. Growing up in the public view is a big challenge in itself with tabloid and fan speculation and scrutiny on every move the tweens made. Add a narcissistic Machiavellian schemer to play puppeteer with careers and private lives and you get twisted feelings and miserable people.
Emma, Charlie and Harrison are the family they created on set, and nurtured off. I love their adult dynamic of being completely real and supportive with each other. I feel childhood envy on Wesley's behalf for missing out on their amazing bonding summers with book author/show creator Sedar on his estate. Wes might have been a natural fourth in their friendship had it not been for is family's interference. His and Emma's secret friendship might have had a chance. *sigh*
A pap photo creates havoc in the press for Emma's "Golden Girl" reputation and Wesley's fresh split from his wife, threatening to do real damage to them both. Wesley father comes up with a fake dating scheme. What is "fake" never really is in their minds and eventually reality. There are big, life long feelings here.
I love how they come to work as a team and get what they really want, no matter what. Emma is awesome!
Piper has created a world that I'm completely invested in for the long haul. I fear it will end before I'm ready to let it go. Emma, Charlie and Kate, Harrison and now Wesley and all the other characters are so real and fully dimensional. The Terraformative background foundation is rich with history and secrets.
I love me some Piper Sheldon - Smartypants and otherwise! Her Unkucky in Love series is such a great follow up after the SWS! I wasn’t sure I could survive once she concluded those incredible ladies, but here we are with her amazing writing and a new cast of characters to drool over!
I adored book 1 and the introduction to the world of the unlucky cast of child stars from Terraformative, a sci-fi show they acted on for years and wrapped at least 10 years ago. Darling Emma had a secret friendship with fellow cast mate Wesley, who was not friends with the other main cast. Theirs was a special bond, but troubled because of his family life and how they discouraged him from spending any time with the others, who were beneath him and his “Hollywood royalty” family.
When they run into each other so many years later and everyone is in different circumstances, out at a club one evening during filming of the big reunion show, they are caught on camera in a hug after a breakdown when he reveals his divorce, and it leads to the show producers turning it into a fake relationship opportunity like no other. The pair can’t stand each other for reasons they haven’t communicated, while of course they have long-term, unresolved feelings from show days.
After the whole cast ends up spending time with the author of the book series over the holidays, they finally might have the time and opportunity to say everything his family always stopped in the past.
Piper has such a special way with words and her storytelling is absolute perfection and pure genius. I adore absolutely everything about her and everything she writes. This book is something everyone needs in their collection, and you should all be running over to KU now to grab your copy!
I received an advance review copy from the author, and this is my honest feedback.
Better Date Than Never by Piper Sheldon is a swoon-worthy second-chance, fake dating romance. Wesley and Emma were child stars together and secret friends. The son of a Hollywood Dynasty, Wesley grew up in the spotlight and under the thumb of his power-hungry parents. Emma was a young unknown who earned the role of a lifetime, but at what cost? A devastated young Emma left the limelight to build a philanthropic empire. A decade later and the tension between Wesley and Emma still sizzles behind a facade of indifference. Is it hatred or could it be yearning? In Better Date Than Never, Piper has written a beautiful blend of heartache, pining main characters, amazing found family, and soul-deep love. Piper’s storytelling style is captivating and heartfelt. Wesley is a charismatic, tortured, heart melting Hollywood star striving to escape his toxic family. His protective, kind-hearted nature has kept them apart for a decade. Emma is a spitfire & an altruistic heroine whose heart has always only longed for one man. The one man she can’t have; that is until a devious plot throws them together. I loved the inclusion of Emma’s best friends and Kate, the heroine from Stranger Than Fiction. They are wonderful, dynamic side characters with fantastic cameos. I cannot wait to read more of this crew. Emsley stole my heart! The Podcast interludes made me guffaw! If you love celebrity, fake dating, second-chance at first love romcoms, add Better Date Than Never to your TBR now!
This book could be read as a standalone. However, I think you should read book one too. Not because it is vital to this story but because it is just as good. Anyway, on to Wesley and Emma. These two were childhood co-stars on the show Terraformative but Wesley was not in the “trio”. However, Wesley and Emma developed a special relationship during this time. It left a lasting impression on both of them. However, twenty years later they find themselves faking a relationship. Emma has the label of Golden Girl in Hollywood. Her philanthropic endeavors have become a brand. So much so that she no longer feels she can be herself in public. Wesley comes from a film industry family. One that has dictated every move he has made. Wesley and Emma have a lot to work through to get their fake relationship to reality. They are both complex characters that have been shaped by their fame. I loved both Wesley and Emma equally. This is a rather hard feat to achieve for me as I tend to relate more to one charter than the other. Wesley is trying so hard to be a good guy in a bad situation. Emma is trying to not be so good that she loses her humanity. I also love this other world that Piper has created within the book. We get to spend some time with the creator of Terraformative and it was such a bittersweet time. Also, we get a hint at Harrison’s book which is sure to be interesting.
She’s done it again! Piper Sheldon has written an absolutely engrossing, masterpiece of a story! I truly enjoyed every page and couldn’t put the book down from the second it showed up on my kindle. This book has absolutely lived up to the fantastic-ness that encompasses all Piper’s other stories that came before it! Plus, I just always love me some “fake” dating romance 😉😘👌🏻 Lol Piper (as per usual) did a superb job of developing and describing the characters in this story, not to mention the phenomenal depicting of emotion(s) throughout every scene. Basically this story and these characters are incredibke and you need them in your life! But that is no surprise given who the author is. ☺️ Like with all of her written works, Piper kept a perfect balance between lighthearted romance and more serious and mature aspects/scenes throughout the entire story. I always try to keep my reviews of books vague to ensure I am not giving out any unwarranted spoilers but I can confidently say this... Emma and Wesley’s story is a must read! 👌🏻 I think this is one of (only one of, because there are so many amazing Piper Sheldon books) of Piper’s best work yet and I HIGHLY recommend picking up this book! Once again, I love, love, love this story and know you will too! You cannot go wrong with this author! 💖 Five stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Nothing really happened in this book. It was so verbose. The main characters have true chemistry but this was lost due to the plot and scripting being so poorly done. It starts mid scene where the h leaves the pub to go comfort the H in an alley near the pub, even though he hasn’t given her any indication in nearly 13-20years that he’s interested in her. I say 13 to 20 because the timeline is never well explained but I was so bored with the writing that I’m glad for a few less pages to read. Anyways, coming back to this plotless plot. While she kisses him on the cheek, the paps take a photo and since he’s going through a divorce that might tarnish her reputation, they agree to fake date because his father threatens him into it. NONE of this makes ANY sense! Then there’s a lot of blah blah blah, reminisce, reminisce, reminisce, talk about the show, la di dah boring text, and then they’re living together. I mean what?? Then they kiss and his ex wife is having a baby and they go to some other country to meet the show writer who has Alzheimer’s. Jeez! This author needs to have jotted her plot points, then run it by a good alpha and beta reader and then a good editor. Everything was missing! It’s boring and it took me days to finish because I couldn’t be bothered. Wish I had DNF’d instead. Add to it, the cover looks silly
After having read all of Piper Sheldon's books, I can say I'll read whatever she writes, because it will be worth it. Each book is better than the last, and this is no exception.
This is the second book in the Unlucky In Love series, and we meet again with Wesley and Emma, two of the actors in the Terraformative series. They were best friends during the filming, but they grew apart to the point they can barely tolerate each other. Or can't they? One moment of weakness by Emma, and the press is all over them, swooning over a long awaited ship, "Emsley".
She's the Golden girl, with a pristine reputation and charity work. Wesley is Hollywood royalty, and hasn't been allowed to make a single decision for himself in his whole life, and now it's not any different. They are forced to keep a fake relationship to keep her reputation intact, whereas he... well, he has no other choice.
The chemistry between these two is insane, their banter, their feelings, the friendship between all of them, Agatha and the chickens,... and the best part? That it's Emma who saves the day, as the badass she is.
“A lifetime of a thousand tiny cuts had left him one giant open wound, bleeding out in front of me.” *sigh*

Thank you so much to the amazing Piper Sheldon for this opportunity. You don't know how happy I am. These series is addicting! 😍
This story focuses on Emma Flynn and Wesley Cole. These two *big sigh*... these two literally broke my heart. I promise. Their story is very emotional. All they ever want is to fall in love but a very big hurdle is on their way. I adore Emma so much. She is strong, very positive, and she fights for the person she loves and Wesley was just the same. It pains me to know what he has been through. It gutted me so bad.
This is such an amazing, emotional story of second chances. Two broken hearts that taught me how to be strong and fight for what/who I love. An amazing story that will surely leave a mark on our hearts 😢💕❤
I really though that this was a romantic- comedy just like the first book. I'm not complaining because I really really reaaaally love it so much! and now I can't wait for my favorite playboy to have his own happy ending ☺🥰
