MY FIRST BRAIN QUEST: ABCs is an interactive alphabet book. Each page features a letter with a picture based on it as well as some basic questions to think about it further. For instance, for a it shows "amazing acrobats" and invites children to count them, consider the color of the apples in the image, and think about what else begins with /a/.

What I loved: This is a great twist on the traditional alphabet book that includes an interactive element. Designed to be read with caregivers, it gives children a way to think more about the pictures and letters for additional educational opportunities. The images are quite clever with plenty of color and fun details that will give little ones plenty to look at while they answer the questions. Each letter features a couple of words that begin with it, which makes for some very silly combinations that little ones will enjoy.

Final verdict: A colorful and educational book, MY FIRST BRAIN QUEST: ABCs is an interactive board book that will work well for toddlers and preschoolers to explore the alphabet.

MY FIRST BRAIN QUEST ABCS educates children on the letters of the alphabet while engaging them with different questions. Not only does the author incorporate each letter, but they also teach different colors and counting up to five through questions. For example, "what color is the balloon" and can you count the acrobats" are some questions in the beginning. Each section has three questions and the third is always what else starts with this letter. My daughter immediately wanted to read this book again and I was more than happy to do it but challenged her to answer differently. The illustrations are adorable and bright and correlate with each letter. This question and answer format promotes the retention of each letter and color because it stimulates a child's mind. It also promotes early critical thinking skills.

Final Verdict: Overall, I love this format because of how much my daughter enjoyed it. Everything ties together to promote counting, learning the letters, and learning different colors which makes this so much more than your typical "ABC" book. I would recommend it to young learners and it would make a great addition to pre-k and kindergarten classrooms.

Little readers will have fun answering the questions as they go through the alphabet with funny animals. Each page has three questions; you have to think of more words that begin with that letter, answer a question about the color of an object in the picture, or count up objects or people in the picture. On some pages, the question might actually be an activity to do, like "Can you dance like a dragon?" The questions are always different, and are sure to get little readers thinking carefully to find the answers.

I love the cute illustrations in this board book! The animal characters are so adorable, and there are a few people too. I liked that the book even includes mythical creatures like dragons and mermaids. I think my favorite character is the pig who plays the piano!

There are so many great things going on here: you're working on the alphabet, encouraging conversation, and increasing vocabulary not regularly used in normal conversation. All things you want when reading to a baby or toddler.

My ONLY issue with this is that it's pretty long; 26 letters in the alphabet, but then each letter has 3 questions. While I know it's not necessary for a child to finish a book to get something out of the experience, I just have a hard time thinking any child would be able to sit through the whole thing.

I received a free copy from Workman Publishing in exchange for a free and unbiased review. I've read this book with my 1 year old and 4 year old both separately and together and they both enjoy it very much. The illustrations are so vibrant and I especially love the questions they have for each page. The questions help engage my kids- the 4 year old in particular- and sparks her imagination. We all love how interactive it is and it's perfect for both babies and young kids.

I loved this board book! Not only do you learn the alphabet with various animal names with alliterations, AND each page has three more questions for the reader. For instance, Dd dancing dragons. Can you count the donuts? Can you dance like a dragon? What else begins with /d/?
The extra questions make it so much more than "just another ABC book", I love the interactions for each letter!
A must-have for your board book collection and would make a fun baby shower gift!

The My First Brain Quest series is fantastic! Each book "promotes language development [and] encourages reading through conversation". The open-ended questions asked throughout encourage thoughtful investigation of each page and the bright, and inviting images make for a fun learning experience. I will be revisiting these!

This is a really great board book for encouraging interaction with the content and encouraging critical thinking. While still being age-appropriate.

This book provides an opportunity to really dive in and engage with the letter. It makes the child an active participant in the learning. And, the illustrations and word pairings are pretty cute.
