The Complete Guide to Chakras: Vintage Edition: Discover Healing, Positivity, and Self-Care Through the Power of Your Chakras

Rate this book
This longtime Barron's best seller has now been updated and reformatted as an attractive new hardcover edition. The ancient Indian word, chakra, comes from the Sanskrit word for "wheel of light," and describes energy centers believed to exist in every man and woman. The Book of Chakras explores the nature of those energy sources, and instructs on how to use them. The author identifies seven energy centers, starting with the Root Chakra, located in the lower torso, which anchors us in life. She also describes the Sacral Chakra, the Solar Plexus Chakra, the Heart Chakra, the Throat Chakra, the Brow or Third Eye Chakra, and the Crown Chakra. Traditional Chakra teachings describe seven bodies that make up every person's aura, and claim that each of these bodies vibrates in ways allied to the colors of the universe. However, only one of these bodies-- the Physical--is visible. When we understand these bodies, we become able to correct our Chakra imbalances and harness our powers for peacefu

I'm the kind of a guy who practices astrology and watches "Ancient Aliens" so it's no surprise to find a book like this on my shelf. The edition I've got describes itself as the "Vintage Edition" even though the book was first published in 2016. I think that claim has something to do with the way the contents are presented. They are designed to look like they are printed on faded, ancient parchment, when in fact this is standard glossy paper that has been inventively messed with (for want of a better expression).

You know what you're getting here. You're either willing to give this sort of thing the time of day or you're not, and I have always been something of a fence-sitter with a lot of this mind, body and spirit stuff. I'm curious and interested enough to go at it with a straight face, but I am not by any means completely convinced.

This was an interesting read, and it really is rather beautiful, but I don't intend to start meditating or peering into crystals any time soon, sorry.

I picked this book because I thought it would be a 'chakra for dummies' type deal, and it was. Very simple but also extremely informative. It includes a breakdown of each energy center, as well as healing affirmations and meditation practices. I will use this text in the future like a reference book. It is a bit 'commercialized' and the one aspect I didn't care for is the Catholic/Christianity references, as it felt excluding. Overall good read.

Judgy as hell about addiction, body size, uses the world “wholesome” about ten times, relates all illness to your personal chakra imbalances and how if you’re sick, that’s basically your fault. Exhausting.

LOVE this book. I have read many books on this subject and I found this one to be one of the best in terms of simple and complete explanations spanning many areas of each chakra. If you are looking for affirmations and meditations to practice this is the best book I personally have read on the subject. I love how it gives a comprehensive guide to each meditation full of visualizations which allows even the most in experienced of meditators to be able to easily start.

A very insightful book on each of the chakras. Ambika clearly has a wealth of knowledge relating to the chakras and here she shares it with us in an easily digestible manner. I really enjoyed the questionnaire and meditation section for each chakra and also very grateful for the technique of sealing with the cross in the circle of light.

I love this book, very insightful and I found that the mantras it supplies are useful guides. I know I definitely have blocks, so I will be using the access instructions and the handy questions to explore blocks in the next part of my healing journey.

This book is also absolutely stunning, made for a very easy read because of all of the illustrations and detail.
