Empyema Thoracis is a disease very commonly affecting low economic group. It carries a very high morbidity and mortality if not treated and managed properly at correct time. It's complications remain for life long if neglected. In India the most common cause is still Tuberculosis and sadly this disease is still very much neglected.In this book, author has explained in easy language the art and science of empyema management with lots of photographs from his own collection and links to surgical videos made by him in his OT, making it easy to understand this complex disease. The book is useful for undergraduates as well as for postgraduates in fields of medicine, surgery, chest and TB, pulmonary medicine, paediatrics and cardio-thoracic surgery.This has always been one of Siddharth's favourite area of work. He has continued the legacy of thoracic surgery alive in BHU apart from active cardiac surgery programme. Very few centres in India are now doing thoracic empyema work. He has treated more than 2500 empyema thoracis patients. He learnt the basics of thoracic surgery from masters in the field like Prof. T. K . Laheri, Prof. Damyanti Agrawal and Dr. R. K. Dewan.
