Now updated with new material, Notes from a Friend is a concise and easy-to-understand guide to the most powerful and life-changing tools and principles from Tony Robbins, bestselling author and an international leader in peak performance.
Starting in 1991, a self-published version of this book has been handed out to thousands of people in need, as part of the Tony Robbins Foundation’s Thanksgiving “Basket Brigade.” The book helped so many individuals overcome the most challenging circumstances that people repeatedly asked to purchase it for themselves and for their friends. Now, for the first time, it is available to you in this special, updated edition containing new material.

For more than 30 years Tony Robbins' passion has been helping people BREAK THROUGH and take their lives to another level -- no matter how successful they already are -- in the areas that matter most: their business, personal finance, intimate relationships, families, careers and health.
Tony Robbins has helped more than 50 million people from more than 100 countries transform their lives and their businesses through his books, audio programs, health products, live events and personal coaching. He's been fortunate enough to work with everyone from presidents of countries to some of the true legends of entertainment, sports and the business world. But his work is not limited to Fortune 500 CEOs and athletes. He has a special passion for small-business owners, parents and students.
Being the Chairman of seven privately held companies and five holding companies in diverse industries keeps him busy. Many of his companies have become brands that are leaders in their category - from the award winning Namale Resort & Spa in the Fiji Islands, to Twinlab and Metabolife in the sports nutrition field, to the Anthony Robbins brand in personal and professional improvement.
Most of Tony's core strategies for creating breakthroughs have come from his work with some of the biggest names in the business world: He's had the privilege of modeling and distilling the strategies of leaders in some of the fastest-growing companies in the world. He's used these distinctions to help optimize and grow enterprises to new and more profitable levels.
One of the things Tony is most proud of is his humanitarian work through the non-profit Anthony Robbins Foundation. He's always believed that if we're blessed enough to have insight and economic opportunities, then we're also blessed enough to be able to give back. To those who much has been given, much is expected. Tony Robbins is extremely blessed to be able to feed more than two million people in 56 countries every year through his International Basket Brigade.
If you are someone who always wanted to read the books written by Anthony Robbins but are intimidated by the sheer size of it, this book will be an ideal choice to pick. It contains some of the crucial points from his other books, like Unlimited power. Even though the ideas told by the author are nothing new, they are presented in the best possible manner.

The simplicity of this book has always appealed to me and it is exactly what it’s called: a note from a friend, to be read at any time by anyone who just needs or wants a bit of inspiration. It offers some encouragement to those who need a reminder of life’s basic truths and the stimulation of a few good ideas about how to deal with whatever challenges face them. Notes from a Friend will give you food for thought, a simple way of looking at your life, and an avenue for beginning to change and improve it. If you are already a student of Anthony Robbins’ work, there may be little new here. Yet there seem to be a special effect: you’ll gain a new perspective as you review the material in this easy-to-read, accessible style. If you are new to his work, this is a down-to-earth, fun introduction, and I encourage you to look into his more comprehensive works and the resources from which “Notes from a Friend” is drawn - “Unlimited Power” and Awaken the Giant Within.” Understandably, most people are intimidated by the size of the books– (more than 400 pages each), but I promise you they are well worth it.

One of the best books i have ever read. It took me two hours to finish it which shows its smoothness. A book that could refresh my mind and push me forward. I recommand it for everyone who wants to be better, to put his touch in society and to make his dreams true. Don't hesitate to read it :D just make a try, you won't regret :) .
Just as the title suggested, this book feels like taking some wise advice from a friend. Rather than adding new approaches to changing one’s life, the author instead recommended a change of perspective on personal problems, which can be easily applicable to one’s daily life.
Anthony Robbins also wrote other books with longer pages, which perhaps dive deeper into the psychological reasoning behind one’s motivation and doing. If you have come across any of his books and would recommend it, do let me know.
A great read and an excellent book, but admittedly his other books are better... largely because they are more comprehensive. But for a short read, he hits a lot of the main points.
A great primer if you want to start reading Tony Robbins books to see how good they really are.
Yes. This time I finished off another book in a week by Anthony Robbins. He is the famous author of books like Unlimited Power and Awaken the Giant Within.
I had got a glimpse of Tony's writing in the book Unlimited Power where he had described how much our diet plays an important role in fueling excellence and peak performance in our lives. I was amazed at all the tips given by Tony and was surprised how we all do the common mistakes and abuse our own bodies and later blame the lifestyle saying "I am tired due to this fast moving life".
The book "Notes from a friend" is no less than a 100 pages book. It is combination of both Unlimited Power + Awaken the Giant within. The main purpose of writing this book was to condense the 400+ 400 pages worth information from both the books into one single small book. Tony has once again proved himself that he is a leader in terms of helping people realize their true potential within these 100 pages.
Here are some of the things that the book teaches you:
Following are the stories described in the above image.
Tony asks us to write down the 2 important decisions in our lives and focus on them.
TONY'S CAR RACING LESSON
TONY'S MORNING EVENING RITUAL OF ASKING QUESTIONS THAT CAN SAVE YOUR LIFE
In addition to all these, if you find a copy of Awaken the Giant Within the following chapters could be read if you find the entire book quite intimidating with its huge volume
Decisions: The Pathway to Power Belief Systems: The Power to Create and the Power to Destroy How to get what you really want Questions are the Answer The Vocabulary of Ultimate Success Destroy the blocks, Break down the wall, Let Go of the Rope and Dance your way to Success: The Power of Life Metaphors The Magnificent Obsession- Creating a Compelling Future The 10 Day Mental Challenge Energy: The Fuel of Excellence (From Unlimited Power)
Overall I would give this book a 5/5 rating since it speaks in a very simple manner what is required to get hold of your life when life controls you and drives you crazy.

My brain is currently undergoing a bit of a mental battering and in my desperation to change the way I think, I parted with my money for this very simple, chatty little book that in the space of about a week has already had a pretty significant impact on my life. Each chapter contains a set of handy tools and useful thinking exercises that instantly change your attitude to the current situation and put you in the right frame of mind to deal with your problems. Who knew that simply writing down a couple of Real Decisions and taking steps to fully realise those Decisions could be so uplifting and motivating? This book is also littered with lovely little metaphors that help keep your mind from focusing on the negative (the car, the skid and the wall was my favourite).
Things aren't perfect for me yet and it's going to take a lot more than this book to make me completely well, but it really has helped these last couple of days and I am definitely going to continue with these exercises. I've read a couple of self-help books in the past but none of them have worked quite so quickly or been so short and simple as this one.
If you haven't read any Anthony Robbins books and don't have the time or energy for 'Awaken The Giant Within', Notes from a Friend will get you up and runninng. Also handy as a gift for a friend who may be going through tough times, this book provides inspiration and guidance, with all the credibility of someone who is an unquestionable expert in this stuff.
I mixed up when i read these books, one of my friend recommended to me,they help me alot and learn that I never never never give up in my life and always look at the sunny side of everything.
Some people like to mock Anthony Robbins, but the truth is, he's successful because a lot of what he says makes sense. It's an easy, practical approach, but I like his books.
Forgot to update this but I did finish this yesterday I think or at some point in london. An okay book, nothing revolutionary although I will continue to describe any minor inconvenience as a 'stinker'
A simple fast read. A good introduction to what Tony teaches. What I'll take away from it is; the power of decisions, following it with action and the words we use effect how we feel.
▪ this, describe the kind of person you would have to be to attain your goals.
▪ here is no need to put any limitations on what’s possible.
▪ : they don’t know what they want. You can’t hit a target if you don’t know what that is.
▪ I learned something superimportant; my success depended on doing my best not just once in a while but consistently. All people who succeed dedicate themselves to continuous improvemen
▪ reason we set goals is to give our lives focus and to move us in the direction we would like to go.
▪ The harder you prepare, the luckier you seem to get.
▪ Michael’s desire to achieve his goal was so intense that would hang on the monkey bars at school trying to elongate his body because he thought it would help him make the team. (This just shows you the power of “stretching” yourself!)
▪ when I met Michael Jordan, I asked him what he thought set him apart from the other players, what it was that had advanced him time and time again to personal and team victories. What made him the best? Was it God-given talent? Was it skill? Was it strategy? Michael told me, “Many people have God-given talent, and I’m certainly one of them. But what has set me apart throughout my entire life is that you’ll never find anyone more competitive than I am. I will not settle for second in anything.”
▪ I’ve interviewed many of the greatest achievers in the world, and one of the interesting things I’ve learned is that each of their incredible accomplishments began with the same first step: the setting of a goal.
▪ Years ago, one of the most important ways I changed my life was to change the pattern of the way I moved, the way I gestured, the way I spoke. At first, I thought this was kind of silly and a little like “putting on airs,” but what I found was that by moving my body in new ways, I literally sent a message through my nervous system back to my brain about what I expected from myself. It began to change my feelings and mindset. I began to think more dynamic thoughts and take more powerful, positive, and aggressive actions. But the secret was doing this consciously and deliberately in the beginning and until these unfamiliar movements became my own. Eventually, I didn’t have to think about them anymore. I wasn’t acting. They were simply powerful, positive habits within my mind and nervous system.
▪ We all must realize that emotion is created by motion. The way we move changes the way we think, feel, and behave. Movement affects our body’s chemistry, including everything from more physical activities (such as running, clapping, or jumping) to the smallest movements in the muscles of the face.
▪ The Problem Solving Questions
1. What is great about this problem? 2. What is not perfect yet? 3. What am I willing to do to make it the way I want it? 4. What am I willing to no longer do in order to make it the way I want it? 5. How can I enjoy the process while I do what is necessary to make it the way I want it?
▪ One thing that’s useful to know about all this: when you change your focus, often you don’t immediately change direction. Isn’t that true in life as well? Often there is a lag time between when you redirect your focus and when you experience catches up. That’s all the more reason to start focusing on what you want quickly and not wait any longer to solve the problem.
▪ The reality is that whatever you focus on you move toward.
▪ Once you understand how beliefs are like tables, you can begin to see how they are formed and get a hint of how you can change them, as well. First, though, it’s important to note that we can develop beliefs about anything if we just find enough legs to support them
▪ What are some of the reference experiences you’ve had that make you feel certain you are loving? Maybe someone has told you that you are a very loving person. Or maybe you do things every day that make someone else feel more comfortable, more happy, or more hopeful. Maybe you feel good toward other people, and just feeling loving means that you are full of love for others. But you know what? All of these experiences mean nothing until you use them to support the idea that you’re loving. As you do so, the legs make you feel solid (certain) about the idea and cause you to begin believing it. Your idea feels solid and now it’s a belief.
▪ How do we turn an idea into a belief? Let me offer you a simple metaphor to describe the process. If you can think of an idea as a table with one or two legs, you’ll have a pretty good picture of why an idea doesn’t feel as solid as a belief. Without its legs, that table won’t even stand up by itself. A belief, on the other hand, is a table with enough solid legs. If you really believe “I’m loving,” how do you know you are? Isn’t it true that you have some references to support the idea? In other words, don’t you have some experiences to back it up? Those are “the legs” that make your table solid that make your belief certain
▪ How did these amazing individuals do it? They all, at some moment, decided that they’d had enough. They decided they would no longer tolerate anything but the best. They made a real decision to change their lives. What do I mean by a “real decision”? So many people say things like, “Well, I really should lose some weight. I should make more money. I should do something to get a better job. I should stop drinking.” But you can “should” all over yourself, and things still won’t change!
▪ Was he lucky? Maybe, if L.U.C.K. means Labor Under Correct Knowledge.
▪ “It is in your moments of decision that your destiny is shaped.” - Anthony Robbins
▪ Massive, consistent action with pure persistence and a sense of flexibility in pursuing your goals will ultimately give you what you want, but you must abandon any sense that there is no solution. You must focus immediately on the actions you can take today even if they are small one
▪ YOUR PAST DOES NOT EQUAL YOUR FUTURE.
▪ Like a sponge, I learned as much as I could and begun applying what they taught me immediately. I began to develop a series of strategies and understandings of my own.
▪ In the process of becoming more, I attracted the woman of my dreams,
▪ My secret was focusing on the needs of other people. I constantly asked the question “How can I add something of value to people’s lives?”
