My goto book on AD operations. It is starting to show it's age, but Kaplan did a great job explaining the in's and out's of using System.DirectoryServices.

this book does what 9000000 google searches couldn't do, accurately explain how to write a real ActiveDirectory application. the author does a fantastic job explaining the many, many pitfalls of developing against LDAP and how to use ADAM as well.
