I'm an avid skier and snowboarder and a former member of the National Ski Patrol. I take long mountain-bike rides with my dog every morning (except in the winter, when we cross-country ski), and then spend the next couple of hours on my farm writing and editing my books. (No office . . . I usually just sit on the tailgate of my truck.) I am a licensed pilot, a certified scuba diver, and an Advanced EMT.

This book is a great guide for the LDS youth, and as often happens, that makes it a great guide for the rest of us as well. This is written for the LDS (Mormon) market, so if you aren't in that group it might not make as much sense to you, but I still recommend it. I was impressed with the consumability of the message as well as the practicality of content aimed at young men from 12-18 years old. Which of us don't need a reminder to think of others first and take action? It also contains a succinct and specific summary of the duties of the Aaronic Priesthood, with examples. I enjoyed this book immensely and have recommended re-reading it to each of my sons.

This little book, only ten chapters and 171 pages long, packs a punch.
Over and over the author emphasizes the importance of a young boy's preparation in how he can and will find power as a newly ordained priesthood holder of God if he applies these principles of the gospel to his life. The Aaronic priesthood is the preparatory priesthood for a reason-it is preparing our young men for BIG THINGS.
The author couldn't be more adamant: Read your scriptures! Pray! Find the power of your quorum. Make a plan! Do it NOW! Start NOW! Make a difference! Remember others are always watching you (and there's a wealth of stories about ordinary boys influencing each others' lives to illustrate all these points).
There's no time to lose. Whether you are a boy or girl. Pick up this powerful book and let it touch your life. Do it today!
Think this doesn't apply to you? I'm a forty-something, never married, no children, woman in God's Kingdom and I was STILL able to take a few things away from this book that strengthened my testimony of the gospel and helped me better understand what life looks like from a young deacon's point of view.
After all, even I started out as a Beehive.

Even the prophet started out as a Decon by Shane Barker is a very funny and fun book. It is about scouting and has a lot of rely good sports in almost everything that they do, they are up at a scout camp and these kids were having a swim race and one of the boys almost drowns and one pof the kids swims over to him and saves him. It taught me a lot and how to be a better person. This book caught my attention very well, it was a pretty fast read and I enjoyed it a lot.

I think this is great for young men. There are great stories and examples in here of ways that young men have risen to the occasion, gave thier all, and did their best. There are also checklists of things boys can do to better themselves. It was easy to read, and easy to understand!
