Hear, hear! Well put! Thanks, Red! I totally agree!
That's right! And to stay on the Historical accuracy note, the French part is such a load of stupid easy clichés and poorly researched pseudo facts...
She confuses Louis XVth with the Sun king, whom, the ONE thing she remembered about is: "he pooped in public! lol!!"
Needless to say it is false and misinterpreted. And don't get me started on the witch hunt and the secret esoteric room behind the king's bedroom??????!!!
I know it's fiction but it doesn't mean it has to be stupid and false, actually the best historical fictions I have read were very well researched and accurate, it's not contradictory.
The problem is, from her own confession, she wrote as she went, she did not have any particular knowledge or interest for the period she set her story in, she just fantasised on strong Highlanders in kilts, and everything else (the political, historical background, the time travel, the magic) it's all just a pretext for the romance, just a "decor" on which she can project her sex scenes...
Of course, in that context, why bother making serious historical research??
The next time I read or hear that those books are "accurate", I scream!
