Consdering she's 19, I'm going to recommend some adult books too :) I LOVE Twilight and it introduced me to other horror writers. My favourites are Kelley Armstrong (Canadian and she writes YA fantasy plus Adult. Her Otherworld adult series starts with Bitten which is werewolf but each book keeps getting better. I started those when I was 19.) Anne Rice, the queen of horror and the one who began vampires too. I'm reading her newest and return to vampires, Prince Lestat. I only read the first, half of the second, and started the third in the Vampire Chronicles. I don't think you need to read the previous books to understand what's going on. It's her vampire hero, Lestat, in the present day. I'm liking it so far and on page 50! Charlaine Harris has done adult vampires with Sookie Stackhouse. Those books are based on the TV show True Blood. I read the first which was good and put down the second. But lots of people love them. On YA in particular, I really enjoyed recently Half Bad by Sally Green. It's about a male witch however but it was amazing! Highly recommend! My suggestions would be Prince Lestat and Half Bad, also throw in Bitten (especially if she's on Team Jacob ;) ). I however am Edward.
