Housewife Wish Fulfillment? I love that line. That sounds like a sub-genre to me. I come to this series only through the television show. I was trying to enjoy it but had the nagging feeling that someone had tricked me into watching a series based on romance novels disguised as fantasy.
This Housewife Wish Fullfilment and description...... I think is spot on...... which is probaby why I hated it so much (granted I am not therefore the target demographic)
The series is definitely better! It's as if Diana has to get some help refining the story and she gets that from the screenwriters.
I definitely felt similarly with the first book. I saw the series first and then read it and felt like the actors definitely bring some depth to the characters. Caitríona is just awesome. I think DG gets better with time but at the same time the books are just too long towards the end, they need editing. But DG thinks too much of herself to allow it.
