I find the writing style of Gabaldon lacking, it isn't very smooth. It's all over the place, she jumps from one thing to the other without closure, sometimes I don't know who the characters are, given that there are so many you lose track of who's talking to who, and the plot is barely there. so all in all her writing skills are pretty shotty and not very fluid at all
