It could be considered Benvolio's fault but if there was no feud in the first place then it wouldn't matter if they went to the party or not.
I agree with you, Benvolio was the main cause of Romeo and Juliet's death. He was the one who caused them to meet, as you stated.
I never thought about it that way and that seems reasonable. Benvolio made Romeo to forget about his old love and make him find someone else who was impossible for him. He made them meet each other and eventually caused his death.
This interesting take and I do think that Benvolio played a part in Romeo and Juliet's death, however he is not the reason for it. Even though he did get Romeo to go to the Capulet party where he would eventually fall in love with Juliet, them being in love did not cause them to die. Larger factors like why they couldn't be in love or even fate is more directly connected. In my opinion, Friar Lawrence is really who caused their deaths. Even if that wasn't his intentions, his bad execution was the reason for Romeo's suicide and soon after Juliet's.
I disagree, either way Romeo would've found out about Juliet's death as she was popular in the Capulet family. He would still be very upset and may still killed himself. Benvolio also didn't know Juliet had died,, therefore not being his fault.
I don't believe its fair to blame Benvolio. Benvolio just wanted Romeo to get over Rosaline, as Rosaline didn't reciprocate Romeo's feelings. Benvolio did not make Juliet meet Romeo and fall in love. How could he have known?
This does sound true but just think about how benvolio was trying to help his cousin out. He wanted to take romeos mind off of rosaline. He just wanted romeo to be happy and did not want him to be sad. At the end it was all just a mistake. For example in the text it states "It was. What sadness lengthens Romeo's hours"(shaksphere)? This shows how Benvolio was truly concerned for romeo and wanted to help him.
