I rewrite my manuscripts 3 times minimum too. That way when it gets to the editor it's a bit more polished.
I think I read somewhere that it can take four years to build your author brand. Don't lose heart and keep writing those books, because once you start to build a 'fan' base they will be looking for other titles in your name. This is why Amazon free days work best for self published authors when they have other titles out there. Keep a blog, run some rss feeds around the internet (like goodreads) and such. This will get your name to the top of ggoogggggle! There are other ways to drive up sales and you can always go for paid advertising, which I hear, when done right can help build your initial fan base. It's getting that initial fan base and continually turning out books regularly that will help make you sales later. It's a beast market out there right now, but I'm sure you'll be fine if you are turning out professional work.
