Jess Feyre didn't fall in love with her "jailor" and this is not stockholm syndrome. Listen, I love Rhys. But he makes bad calls too. I'm not talking about Rhys in all books vs Tamlin in ACOMAF and beyond. Obviously, Tamlin is a monster in ACOMAF. But the point that "there were abusive tendencies all along in ACOTAR" are simply untrue.
Tamlin: Took Feyre because of the laws of Prythian that state that if you kill a ferry, then something like the High Lord of that ferrie must claim you for himself. I forgot the exact wording, but it was some ancient law. We see time and time again how laws/curses/bonds in Prythian can only be broken with powerful magic or at poweful costs. If we can forgive Rhys for the things done out of preservation of the bond he has with Feyre, certainly we can cut Tamlin a little slack that he followed an ancient law/rule.

When Tamlin takes Feyre, he provides for her family a LOT.

Tamlin allows Feyre to leave his court and do whatever she wants. In fact, he tries to to stay away from her as much as possible, EVEN at the expense of losing the war to Amarantha, because he feels so guilty for how his ancestors treated humans that he wants right past wrong. He even argues with Lucien about trying to seduce her. He doesn't want to manipulate her.
Tamlin is not perfect. Nobody is. Who he became in ACOMAF is inexcusable. How he did nothing for Feyre when she was imprisoned was heart breaking, but evil? Abusive? No. Maybe weak and uninspired but I think most people, when faced with someone like Amarantha, would be afraid to fight back too. Sure, Rhys fought back, Rhys is perfect, blah blah blah. I get it. I love him too! But...
I have yet to see someone make a strong case for showing that Tamlin was over controlling or abusive in ACOTAR. Most people throw around things like "Stockholm Syndrome, manipulative, controlling" but use false equivalents to back it up. (Didn't mean this to come off hostile, btw. I appreciate a good discussion!)

Jess Oh and one more thing... Rhys fought Amarantha back ONLY when Feyre was involved. He admitted that he was going to be enslaved theoretically forever if it meant keeping his people safe. SO... He watched other people get killed and tortured and did NOTHING but then we blame Tamlin for doing nothing for Feyre? If Feyre hadn't been Rhys' mate, then I bet you one billion dollars that his character wouldn't have lifted a finger to save her because the "ends" (saving Velaris) would have justified the "means" (Feyre's death).
What i"m trying to say is we make Rhys the hero because he fought Amarantha for Feyre. But he only did that because she was his mate. He openly talks in ACOMAF how he witnessed the horrors inflicted on other innocents by Amarantha but did nothing. Hell - he even stood by and watched as Feyre killed 2 innocent faeries! So I can't blame Tamlin for doing nothing when Rhys had already been doing "nothing" when other innocents were being hurt/murdered. Maybe he would have fought against Amarantha for his inner circle but I cannot blame Tamlin too much for not fighting Amarantha when literally EVERYONE up until the point that Rhys tries (in vain) to save Feyre had also failed in standing up to her.
