That's what Public Domain is about: there is no "Estate".
If authors always needed "approval" to reuse cultural artefacts most of the artworks would never have existed.

OMG Now I´m imagining Tolkien with vampires and zombies HAHAHA. I do think they are taking this trend to an overuse, but as everything we are free to read it or let it go.
