Lilliana Anderson I love the characters - I just want them to change a little. For example, how about Stephanie actually does some training to become a better bounty hunter? OR the whole book could be new content instead of constantly rehashing other stories to remind us who's who. By book 19 I know who Ranger is, I know why her grandmother lives with her parents - I don't need to be told over and over again.

Pat Hi Lilliana, I have a thought- which does not mean it is the correct answer- but, I have happened upon several books just because the cover was appealing and so I have checked them out of the library. Specifically, The Julius House by Charlaine Harris. Come to find out, after starting to read it, it is the fourth in the series, of Aurora Teagarden Mysteries. I went back and restarted with the first, so I could get the basics. I have done this with several of the series characters and, although it may be repetitious in the respect you mentioned, I at least gathered some gist to what the story was about, rather than plunging into something and feeling confused.

Lilliana Anderson Hi Pat, Thanks for your thoughts. I do understand that's why it's written that way - I myself have done the same as you and checked out random numbers in a series from the library. Truth be told the first Stephanie Plum book I read was number 10 and while I appreciated the background then, it is just far too repetitive for an almost 20 book series if you know what I mean.

For me, I don't mind if I get a book in a series, start reading and realise I need some back story - it makes me go back and get the other books; kind of like jumping into a tv series half way and having those Aha moments when you get to watch it from the start.

That's just me though ;)

Sofia Like life we get what we deserve or we accept. If we demand quality we will find it if the authors want to sell. If we are satisfied with repeats, that is what we will get. I loved Stephanie Plum during the first books, then I got thorougly tired of the repeats and the hair descriptions and I had to stop. It is my reading time and I like to read something engaging, so I do not just read anything just to read, time is too precious.
