That does make sense, but the whole point of the book was to get Delilah and Oliver together. That's why they went through all those problems. Even when they went through all that difficult stuff to be together, they still wanted to be together and they kept on trying. That would've been pointless if the real son ended up taking Delilah away from Oliver and many people would've been mad that after everything they went through, like Delilah going into the book, they wouldn't end up together. That's just my thought though...
