:) Hello everyone! My name is Eliah, I'm nonbinary and use they/them pronouns

I mostly read YA books, sci-fi, fantasy (preferably with a romantic subplot) and mythological fiction. But l'm more than happy to dabble into new genres, right now I have a lot of free time since I graduated so if you need a reviewer or proof reader I'd be more than happy to help.

— IMPORTANCE OF TW’S —
Please do specify if your book has any trigger such as
- rape
- explicit self harm
- explicit and long description of panic attacks.

I will still give books with these triggers a try but it’ll be much easier for me to finish them if I’m prepared for it.

— Books I’ve enjoyed —
- the fever king series
- the invisible life of Addie la rue
- scythe trilogy
- dark rise
- the song of Achilles
- cerci
- rot and ruin
———

Thanks for having me and I forward to hearing from you all!

E.B. Roshan Hello Eliah,

I have a kids’ graphic novel that’s a Sci-Fi retelling of the classic myth of the Minotaur in the Labyrinth. It was created with middle schoolers rather than adults in mind, but if you’re interested, I’d love to let you give it a try. My email is btznvntATgmailDOTcom

E.B. Hauk Hi, Eliah! I wanted to know if you'd be interested in reviewing my upcoming psychological horror, dark comedy, and drama novel, the Perilous Awakening of Johnny Hazard.

Synopsis: 1986--OSU assistant coach Johnny Hazard is a man who has everything: the woman of his dreams, a recently remodeled Dutch Colonial home, and a budding Benadryl habit. But when his wife, Janet, leaves him to "find herself," Johnny's Benadryl abuse grows out of control, and his nightmares follow him into the daylight. Reality melts, and he's introduced to the world behind the world, meeting a cast of wayward characters who know what he knows, and offer a safe harbor from the storm of his life. But Johnny craves terror, and his downward spiral tightens as he examines a growing sickness within society and himself.

The Perilous Awakening of Johnny Hazard is a deconstruction of the every man dedicated to the horrors of human existence, isolation, self-loathing, and everything we keep hidden. The supernatural terrors that haunt his step mirror his internal struggles. Watch a human dumpster fire in action.

Note: Some readers may find the content matter to be spicy or extreme, but it isn't gratuitous or gory, and nothing in it is done for shock's sake. Our main character's actions are symptomatic of his emotional illiteracy and desperate need for a genuine connection as his life implodes and his inner demons come home to roost. Mental health, sexuality, gender-identity, codependency, and loneliness are all themes. Even the impacts of Reaganism are briefly examined.

Content Warnings: Some (Non-Graphic) Sex, Swearing, Drug Use, Addiction, Brief Mention of Suicide

If you're interested, message me here and I'd be happy to send you the ebook in exchange for your email so I can send a reminder as the release date nears.

M.Ehtisaam Ullah Hey, I would love, if you check out my sci-fi, mystery novel (80k).

Synopsis: In a world run by robots, when newer model robots are made, the older models are thrown away like garbage. But Garbage needs to be discarded. So, the Nobles, the servers controlling the society, made Garbage Missions. Two friends Rex and Sabaton are struggling to survive. An opportunity comes to them that offers them new parts, but with a catch, among the thousands of robots, only one of them can get it. They accept this suicide mission to find a living human in a ruin of a tower. But little do they know that this mission is set up. Ancient mysteries lye within the tower, such as a living shadow, among others. They also meet an array of character. Chinggis, the best ruin hunter, and a robot on a quest to take revenge from Rex for killing his "Brothers". Majnoon, the only other robot who shares a faith with Sabaton, but alas they are bound to clash for only one of them can get the reward. The tower also contain secrets from their pasts and also Zahra, and Chloe, which they meet on there way. Will they succeed or be discarded like garbage?

Note: There are some horror elements, but I've kept them light, and few and far between. They are mostly related to dead robots, but there is no gore.

Just reply here, and I'll send you a copy

message 10: by Sophia (new)

Sophia Drake That sounds like a perfect match!! I can email you a PDF :)

The Age of Darkness is an action packed novel full of twists and turns that leave you on the edge of your seat. The characters are rounded and complex without subtracting from the momentum of the plot.

There are no sex scenes but there is one kiss.
The violence is very minimum as the characters typically use their powers and not their fists/weapons
There is no profanity, but there are words such as heck, dang, crap, etc.
There is one scene where the FMC is panicking

Romance sub-plot: The MMC and the FMC have long been friends since kindergarten and Wren doesn’t want that to come to an awkward end by confessing her feeling, so she keeps it to herself and tries to ignore it. The romance does not happen unrealistically or lurch the readers forward with it, as I have read that far too often and it is not a favorite for me.

Tropes-
•Slow burn
•Found Family
•Redemption
•He confesses
•Quest
•Morally Gray Mentor

I know some of these aren’t actual tropes, lol

Age of Darkness kicks off the Night Hour trilogy and I am in search of more readers and reviewers so I can get it into people’s hands. 🙌

Reviews wanted for Amazon and Goodreads

message 12: by Jxm (new)

Jxm Jensen Hey readers and writers of Good Reads,

I was curious... I got an interesting response. Someone wanted to review my book on amazon.com

Its always lovely to have people express interest in your book, especially "good readers" like all of you!

So I followed up. I was a little surprised when they asked if I could I send a pub version.

I find pub versions very difficult to read. I was just curious if a reviewer wanting a pub version was unusual... the person did not accept friend requests and now seems out to reach...

(They said that they could not use kindleunlimited, even though I think my book is currently free on amazon....)

So it got me wondering...and musing... If nothing else, small curious moments can be the impetus to a mystery/conspiracy/science fiction novel.

Soon a story emerged. My mind ran around chasing it, observing, letting the characters and plot grow and feint, as they do.

Within five minutes, it became: "A mysterious reviewer online solicits books to review, but then copies them to be rewritten by chatgpt, and publishes the rewritten crappy AI book on Amazon under a different name and title.

What a clever scam! (I hope people do not do it). This is something that almost no one would ever catch or notice. Just another digital copy hidden in a flurry of other digital provocations...

My story sense required a twist: surprisingly both the initial real book and the purloined AI rewritten book start to sell. And sell and sell!

Both books describe a series of unlikely surprising events. Oddly they occur in real life. A library closes, and someone discovers that all of the books were dumped at sea.

The oddity of the senseless loss of books strikes a nostalgic cord. Why not just give the books away? The odd revelation lingers in the collective mind unanswered.

And ironically, the series of events in the book continues : Across the world, some clandestine secret society is discretely lobbying for public and private libraries to close as a cost cutting measure. University libraries are being digitized and the books stored out of circulation. Book publishers are being bought out by venture capitalists. Some one is rewriting Wikipedia almost as fast as it can be written. School text books are now electronic documents, without physical copies, that appear to be rewritten as they please. And an enigmatic billionaire industrialist just bought the biggest publishers of academic history books, only to sponsor a new mandate to have every text updated with the help of AI.

The original texts are disappearing. No one can quite remember them accurately. In their place, vaguely familiar words seem to change almost weekly, telling different stories.

The good readers of good reads notice the similarities and difference between the books and then set out to solve the mysteries. They soon realize that only the real author of the real book would know the true extent of the subterfuge.

But the real author suddenly disappears, goes into hiding, twitter rumors of threat to kill the real author ...

and then...

A good reader discovers that the rewritten AI books are embedded with coded roadmap to a clandestine society that is using AI to rewrite every book on Amazon and revise every reference on line. They are systematically rewriting history, literature, culture, civilization and religion. They are systematically revising every image in every book and telling a subtly different ever evolving story. History becomes a malleable text, a changling.

The secret society is irked that its activities are revealed before it has finished, so the clandestine society unleashes more computer power and more resources to expedite the transformation of all text and culture before anyone can stop it. The secret society
diverts vast resources to hack major web sites, delete the text of each web site and replace the text and photos with the preferred rewritten verbiage from chatgpt and deep fake images from Midjourney, hoping or realizing that most people will not notice or will not care.

It is soon clear that that this secret society is using AI to rewrite wikipedia, school text books, history books, to tell one story: the “great man” myth: that human culture and civilization was developed by a series of superhuman geniuses, typically white men, who should not be questioned, who do not have to answer or justify themselves..

The real author, now in hiding, is the key to unravelling the truth. The real author was once a computer technician inside the clandestine society. She secretly maintained a back up of all the files that had been changed or deleted. She alone has all of the true text in her possession.

Now the society has to find her and delete the back up files, to forever delete history. The society is threatened by exposure and is desperate to find the original author. She alone has the information and she alone can prevent them from rewriting human history.... so

(I have to stop avoiding the work that I have to do.... but it does illustrate perhaps a character flaw of authors and other dreamers: curious ideas can be far more interesting than working in the real world! )

What do you think? Of any of it?

message 13: by :) (new)

:) Jxm WOW that sounds like an amazing idea that is sure to resonate with people ,specially those in the arts and creative expression industry since AI art and chatgpt are genuinely a terrifying reality with uncertainty and all the right details for a sick sci-fi 10 years in the future dystopian adventure I’d be SO down to read something thing like that!!

Summary:
THE ART of JOB HUNTING is Anastasia Helena Fenald's second poetry collection, a classic one-two punch of humorous satire and blunt truth. While taking inspiration from job applications, skill assessments, and interview questions, each poem delivers wit and sarcasm sprinkled with plenty of uncomfortable (read: honest) vulnerability. The Art of Job Hunting is for anyone living paycheck to paycheck, plotting to cannibalize the rich, and still hopeful enough to think they have a chance against nepo babies.

Terry Lister Hi Elijah,
Thank you for being willing to read and review books. This is such an important aspect of authors meeting readers. I would be very happy if you could read my book on Christmas in Africa. My book shows how Christmas is celebrated in 16 African nations.
Let me share the blurb of Peace,Joy and Love:Christmas Across Africa:
For some living in highly developed societies, Christmas is a time of exorbitant expense and sheer panic. Children are suddenly acutely aware of their conduct, and parents subconsciously feel pressured to tackle pricey wish lists.

But in Africa, Christmas is a little different, especially depending on the country you decide to visit.

Terry Lister’s experiences and research gives the reader a glimpse into the customs and practices of more than 160 African nations, delivering an educational taste of the traditional foods and common rituals. Vibrant photographs display the cultural variety and demonstrate the ways in which unlikely communities work together to make the season a festive time for all, including the most impoverished.

There are lessons to be learned and adventures to be had within the pages of this literary travel treasure. Explore Christmas in Africa and prepare to walk away challenged on the concepts of what it really means to have peace, joy and love during the holiday season.

The Blurb:
Calois Greenway used to be an assassin known as the Thousand-Yard Arrow, but now he lives day to day as a hunter. His quiet and monotonous life is disturbed one day by two women, one of which claims to be Marina von Alschwert, the princess of the Kingdom of Alschwert.

Marina knows about Calois's past and wants him to work for her as a bodyguard. As it turns out, she's on the run, and she needs to get out of the kingdom before assassins can take her life. Calois takes the job, but it may end up being more troublesome than he realizes...

At its core, the story revolves around a family who find themselves in a world where all technological devices suddenly become useless. While exploring the consequences of three interconnected catastrophic events in the United States - a cyberattack, failures in nuclear power plants, and an electromagnetic pulse - the novel also highlights themes of family, love, societal dependencies, the vulnerability of our contemporary world, and the intrinsic human instinct to build communities in times of crisis.

C.W. Lovatt Hi Eliah,

I hope you’ll consider reviewing my latest novel, and winner of the Literary Titan Golden Book Award, “Yuri & the Pig” (87,000 words [282 pages] published by Wild Wolf Publishing on September 1, 2023), a work of fiction based on the current war in Ukraine. However, the countries involved are fictitious, too.

Although there are cases of rape and self harm in the story they aren't explicit.

Some excerpts from editorial reviews:
“C W Lovatt's storytelling is masterful…” ~ Readers’ Favorite
“Lovatt's novel is a literary gem …” ~ A Look Inside
“A genuinely thought-provoking novel, it beckons readers to reflect on the intricate dance of life, growth, and self-discovery.” ~ Literary Titan

The following is the blurb:

“From the best-selling author of the Charlie Smithers adventures.

A farmer and his pig set off on an extraordinary quest across war-torn Eastern Europe.

Entangled in a savage war, the country of Xoraina is fighting for its very existence; but to Yuri, a simple peasant from a remote mountain village, it seems all but certain that the invading Zlaimperians must ultimately prevail. Not that it is of any consequence to him, of course. In Yuri’s view, every form of government is equally bad, so it makes very little difference who holds the reins of power. Indeed, throughout time, the only things that have ever really mattered are that the soil be tilled, the cows milked, and the pigs shipped to market, all in a timely fashion.

But when an exorbitant new tax threatens that philosophy, he sets off with his pig across the war-ravaged land to the Capital in order to fight the injustice. In the process, their journey becomes a road to a terrible enlightenment, causing Yuri to question his deeply seated beliefs. But only when he and his pig find themselves placed squarely in destiny’s path is there any hope of those questions finding answers.”

If interested, please contact me at clovatt@xplornet.ca and I’ll arrange for you to receive an e-copy in the format you prefer.

Thank you for your time.

Prelude of Fire: The Gailean Quartet, Book 1

Hello there!! I'm an author of a YA epic fantasy series. Previously published, but I had to leave the publisher last year due to an unfortunate negative experience. So, like my characters, I'm on a quest! I'll be republishing later this year and am questing for early readers for my ARC for Book 1, Prelude of Fire.

Prelude of Fire has found family, a good vs. evil quest, emotional twists and turns, and elemental and musical magic. One reader says it's like "if Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings had a baby."

ARC is available in PDF, Epub, and Mobi.

If you're interested in helping me out, drop a comment or message me here directly. I appreciate any help I can get for a successful relaunch. Thanks for considering!

Here's the blurb to help you decide if you're interested:

A desperate mission. Sinister sorcery. Can she find the seven prism shards to stop the world from being destroyed?

Ashlai, a young Fyre mage who can harness powers of flame from the sun, yearns to know about her kin. Her adoptive elven father refuses to let her travel abroad with her brother, and she despairs of ever knowing who she really is. But when the new king’s vicious spell attacks her forest home, she flees toward that unknown past—and an uncertain destiny—guided only by the strange melody in her head and a piece of broken prism.

Determined to save the land from the enchanted drought burning everything in its path, Ashlai searches for six other magical fragments to overthrow the ruthless king. With the help of a shape-shifting thief, two squabbling bards, and a snarky water elf, she races toward a perilous confrontation…and a life-changing truth.

Can Ashlai fight fire with fire to defeat the devastating spell before it consumes the entire land? And can she survive the secrets she discovers without losing her new friends, her family, and even herself?

Prelude of Fire is the thrilling first book in The Gailean Quartet YA epic fantasy series. Featuring a diverse cast, high-stakes quests, and music melded with magic, you’ll love Schulze’s emotional journey.

Read Prelude of Fire to ignite destiny today!

would you open to read 3 chapters of my upcoming contemporary romance? If you like them I will get you the whole book, but for now I am just collecting feedback to whether the book instantly grabs you, and you want to keep going.

What I’d love to know is simple:

Does it pull you in? Would you keep reading?

🖋️ What to expect:

– A past that won’t let go

– A love that refuses to fit into neat boxes

– One red velvet cannoli, a soulmate bond, and summer in San Francisco

– Emotional intimacy, sensual tension, and lyrical writing that hits the heart

Ann Kalus Hello,

I've published my indie debut The Sea Whisperer last week and would love to find some readers to review my book! It's an action-adventure about a sickly girl who is destined to save the world from a Great Tempest. Lots of naval action and a subtle romance subplot. Nothing explicit, and no rape/self-harm/long description of panic attacks. It has a pretty mythological feel.

Dana Harp I would love to have you read my ARC! Here’s my original post for details and the sign up link…

📚 ARC Readers Wanted for Slowing Down Amelia 📚

Are you a fan of emotional, funny, and slightly chaotic coming-of-age stories? I’m looking for ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) readers for my upcoming YA novel Slowing Down Amelia, a standalone companion to Growing Up Hadley.

Set in the summer of 2000, this book follows 14-year-old Amelia, who’s determined to have the best summer of her life… even if it means breaking some rules along the way.

It’s full of heart, friendship, teen rebellion, and that nostalgic feel of growing up fast.

If you’re interested in reading an early copy and helping an indie author out with a quick review, I’d love to have you on board!

blurb:
What happens when Life and Death collide?

As the Embodiment of Life, Aveoth must preserve the living and continue his legacy. His existence is governed by these two purposes. But questions of morality began to creep into his mind and his once clear path becomes increasingly blurred. Everything he once knew changes when he finally meets her—Raizel, the Embodiment of Death.

Trained from childhood, Raizel moves through existence detached from most emotions and living in silent obedience. Love, hate, sorrow, despair and most other emotions are foreign to her. But someone breaks through her cold existence—a man who claims to love her. Yet his twisted devotion is marked by merciless and ritualistic murders.

The more Aveoth and Raizel work together to unveil the mystery, the more they are haunted by the corpses that are left behind. Each death began to pull them closer to the truth—and to each other. The killings are personal and the killer’s obsession with Raizel is unmistakable. Yet, beneath the surface of their search, something far darker prevails—a growing tension which suggests the killer may be closer than either of them realizes.

Is it affection or madness?

As the line between love and obsession blurs, Aveoth and Raizel begin to wonder: What if the killer isn’t an outsider, but someone close to them—much closer. And if that’s true, how long until their identity comes to light?

In a universe where Life and Death are bound by their own destiny, can they uncover the real murderer before the next victim falls? Or is the answer one neither of them is prepared to face?

A.K. Smith In a fractured world where power is inherited but truth is buried, one girl's mark could ignite salvation—or spark total collapse.

Mark of Fate is a sweeping, character-driven fantasy that blends raw emotion, ancient magic, and political unrest with secrets sharp enough to split the soul. At its heart is Aleecia, a young woman marked by destiny but raised in silence, now hunted for a gift she barely understands.

If you crave:

Layered, immersive worldbuilding that doesn’t hold your hand
Spiritual undertones and supernatural forces grounded in legacy and betrayal
A coming-of-age heroine who must choose between what is right and what is written
Unforgettable side characters who love, deceive, and survive on the edge of loyalty
Romantic tension, haunting lore, and emotional twists that hit like a spell
Then you might be exactly who I’m searching for.

I'm looking for a small circle of insightful, honest beta readers who want to be part of this book’s journey before publication. Your feedback could shape the final form of a story years in the making.

This isn't just a read—it's an invitation into a living myth, where every choice tips the balance of a world cracking under the weight of its own lies.

Will you walk the Veil with me?

M.D. Engel Hey everyone, I have recently published my debut novella:
Gravity, Grease, & Soybeans: An SV Demeter Novella

It is a short read, ~2-hours, with a nerdy rom-com vibe with a bit of sci-fi (it is set on a space ship).

It has forced proximity and opposites attract. Great to read when you need a pallet cleanser, get "G" on your alphabet challenge, or just nab another "book read" for the year!

I appreciate your support!

Devikumar Ramalingam I’m Devikumar Ramalingam, author of The Celestial Hunt.
This novel is my attempt to bring together everything I love — immersive storytelling, deep philosophical ideas, and a mystery that crosses borders.

What you’ll find inside:
A Unique Core Idea – The belief that thought frequency shapes destiny, and the haunting mantra “Nothing Controlling Everything”.

Two Interwoven Worlds – From the rain-washed streets of Hyderabad to the moonlit shores of the Philippines.

Memorable Characters – Koushik, the curious schoolboy; Jaidev, the enigmatic teacher; Chandrashekar, the philosophical guide; and Edwin, the artist chasing hidden truths.

An Ancient Mystery – A lost book (Providential Psyches), a recurring name (Sangford/Sangfroid), and a trail that could change how we see the universe.

If this blend of mystery, history, and spiritual insight sounds like your kind of read, you can explore it here on Kindle:

Looking forward to your thoughts and discussion!
