I'm sure he's a great Dungeon Master for his group. Those skills did not transfer to novel writing. And I'm not sure I would enjoy being one of his players given the style of things he apparently enjoys.
Brings me back to my AD&D days in my parents basement. I re read Dragons of Autumn Twilight by Weiss and Hickman. 12 year old me thought it was epic fantasy 40 year old me couldn't finish it. Maybe that's the problem with this book you're at the wrong age
Weis and Hickman are 10 millions time better than Greenwood as a writer. Dragonlance actually has a plot.

Yeah, an age with judgement and taste.
I read Dragonlance for the first time a couple years ago. The first book was okay, the next two not so much. But I could see the reasons for the nostalgia.
