Nice answer! I go for stuff that interests me, as opposed to what sells or doesn't. In fact, that question doesn't enter my mind prior to starting a new writing project.
Stephen King started as some kind of a high school teacher. But you can of course get a job in a theater, in a movie studio, or even an opera house, sweeping the corridors and polishing the door handles. Nowadays they have someone doing that with a strong anti-COVID-19 disinfectant. You would definitely make more money than as a "writer."

Aspiring to what? Writing? take out a piece of paper and decorate it with a bic. Doing a book? Best to use something with Word on it. Doing a meaningful and artful book? Post it somewhere online and put a few chapters on GR. Commiserate with other GR Authors about how insipid the guys who make money are. Doing a best seller? Write something the mass market already knows, and counter-point that with putting them in a good light; or better; one they think that is.
On second thouht. DON"T DO IT, unless you get off on pretending to like assholes.
Give me a lot of money and I'll show you how to write a million seller. Ask EL James.
I would do that, but Micky D fired me just because they found out about the felony convictions.
Aren't you sorry that you chose to answer this stupid question, stupid?
I'm a fries scatterer and bagger. Before I can be promoted to burger flipper I'll have to be the fries manager for a while. Do you think I should trust them to do that? The boss is not a nice person.
