Considering all of the above, and my separate notion that the Physicians proves what was in development so far - that Des and Pen blend as well, I expect their faith to be markedly different from what has happened with other demons and hosts (I know this is not the right word) before. And they have a child together, all three of them - I consider Des to be a part of it. It is one thing to be a rider of an intellecually inferior being and another thing to co-exist with someone at the most intimate of all possible levels. Pen has been a son, a brother, a father, a woman so far, and is the most potent magician of his time (well...). Remains to see if he will somehow transcend humanity (don't know if this would be a good thing or a bad thing). Or maybe the Bastard will take them both in and let them be. Which is also nice. Interesting why people, me included, are so focused on how it all ends, when the story has just begun.
